Hello,
I face a similar problem using an eeepc touch with kernel 3.2.0-27-generic i386
architecture (intel ATOM) from lubuntu 12.04. This kernel boot fine.
On the other hand, if I boot the 3.2.0-29 generic it fail with kernel

problem is solved: I use zsh as shell and /bin/sh was a symlink to
/bin/zsh. Problem is that all initramfs-tools/hooks/* is using !/bin/sh,
building of initramfs finished without error but in verbose mode I saw
bad syntax on all hooks!
Once I symlink back /bin/sh to /bin/dash all went

Regarding your comment #36, I tried, but all the messages flow so
quickly (and are such a large amount of informations... pages and pages

I have thought about the reports and the test results and the test procedures

I have obtained the same results: if the problem is random, it's... repeatably

Sorry for the delay (again...)
What you described in your last comments makes me think this is not a kernel

points this way: the first line points to an issue on the init script.

Thanks. Still nothing there... your script seems to be sane. Would you

Thank you. And don't worry if these kernels fail: we're following a
process here using git bisect, which will (hopefully) show us exactly
the commit that introduced the issue you're hitting. There are a few
more kernels to test until this process finishes (roughly 3 steps more).

A strange new symptom with V4: grub fails, thus at boot I can only see the
grub prompt with only minimal BASH-like line editing support. I have

Yes, it works. I'm sure that I used sudo update-grub after installing
