We (Czech Ubuntu l10n Team) use this -- http://wiki.ubuntu.cz/Lokalizace/Ubuntu -- list of Ubuntu-specific packages. This list looks useful. We, Ubuntu Dutch Translators, have a page on our wiki with the status of packages that have untranslated strings. It is updated on a regular basis.
