And let add another thing:

The b word was used several times in this list in the past years and no one
from livecode chimed in.
Anyway, i will replace it with nonsense in the future…

2016-03-01 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Kevin,

if you feel offended by my “bulsh…” expression then please excuse.
And you are right i am not privy to the conversation and because of that i
did not give any advise to him what he should do.
I just commented Wilhelm´s repetition of Livecode´s support team´s view.
And this should be allowed.

And if you´ve read my entire posting then you should have seen that i do NOT
in any way assume Livecode Ltd any negative intentions. I even took Livecode´s
part.
Otherwise i would not have written about my positive experiences with your team.

Regards,

Matthias

Sorry for that expression, but if that is the view of the support team , then
that is bullshit. If you bought a perpetual license, then this license allows
you to use at least the version that was current at the time when you purchased
that license for ever. There was also the possibility to purchase an
“additional year of upgrades”. All new released versions within that year were
added to your license. That might be the reason why your perpetual license in
your account shows the range 4.5.x to 6.1.0.

I am not a lawyer, but i am pretty sure they cannot change your perpetual
license to a subscription license without your confirmation and without any
notification.

I am confident that they will find a satisfying solution for you. I´ve had
always good experiences with them discussing license questions.

Re: leap to future

2016-02-23 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi Shawn,

the lifetime license from the 1st Kickstarter campaign is for all platforms
Livecode supported at the time when the Kickstarter campaign ran and for all
new platforms Livecode will support in future.
That is a fact and already confirmed by Kevin in several posts and emails.

If your license does not list Html5 as supported platform, then just drop the
support team an email and ask them to add Html5 to your license.

I´ve done so in the past.

Regards,

Matthias

Re: [On-Rev] TIO: again all index files were overwritten

2016-01-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
On my tio accounter there were 2 sites. One created with Rapidweaver and one
with Website X5 if i remember right.
Nothing special. No lc scripting. Just standard.

Nevertheless the accounts were affected and much more important they are still
not restored. And as i wrote in an other email in this thread.
That´s the 2nd time that the sites were not restored.

Re: [On-Rev] TIO: again all index files were overwritten

2016-01-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Kevin,

the index files have a changed date 17.01.2016 7:00 GMT+1. That was yesterday.
When were the things restored? I informed support today morning by emergency
request at 08:15 GMT+1.
Did not hear back from support. So i phoned Heather at 10:00GMT+1.
But nothing changed. Until now i did NOT get an answer to my emergency request.
11 hours later ! ! !
And my data is still broken. Btw. that´s the 2nd time that i have to restore it
on my own. The last time i had also to restore the data on my own. because
there was a problem with your backup.

And why is no one able to inform customers about this incident, so the
customers can check if their data is broken or not?

[On-Rev] TIO: again all index files were overwritten

2016-01-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,
please excuse. My subject was a little bit mixed up in my previous email.

Maybe this is of interest of other On-Rev users on TIO, but in our accounts all
index files were again overwritten. But i am pretty sure it´s not just our

So be aware.

Hi,

Malte created a date library https://github.com/derbrill/libdate

If i remember right it can handle dates below 1970 and above 2036.

Re: [On-Rev Tio] could someone test the index.html files in her/his account on Tio?

2016-01-05 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,

it seems that all index files, regardless what suffix they had, were
overwritten in all folders in all accounts
.
I noticed that on the 28th and informed On-Rev Support. At that time they were
already running a script which tried to restore the data from a backup.
Unfortunately not all accounts were successfully restored. So i had to restore
my data manually.

The sad thing is that the respective customers were not informed about the fact
that they had to restore their data manually. I am pretty sure there are plenty
of them who even still are not aware that there was and still is a problem with
their site. I call this really awful information management.

@Kevin Miller, in the case you are reading this, please don´t reply with such
phrases like "I¹m not aware of any particular delays in processing on-rev
support at the
moment. I¹ll investigate this question for you.”

Fact is, standard On-Rev support requests are answered very very late. Most
emergency requests are answered in an acceptable time, but some also just were
ignored or answered very late.

Fact is other providers like “HostM” are also offering WebHosting with
LiveCode server and they are answering standard - not emergency- support
request within some hours instead of days and that for very low monthly rates.
Fact is also there is absolutely no communication between On-Rev Support and
On-Rev customers when for example a maintenance is planned. I remember even a
situation when PHP was upgraded on an On-Rev server w/o informing the customers
about this. Not before and even not after the upgrade. Okay we noticed it here
automatically because after the upgrade we had massive problems with our online
shop.

It would be nice, if you, Kevin, would tell us how many people work
exclusively full Time in the On-Rev support. I have the impression that only
David is there 24h for the big problems. At least he is the only one who is
answering the emergency requests.

Regards,

Matthias

Re: Dictionary alternatives

2016-01-02 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D

I see an "Internal Server Error” and i see that Björnkes site is on Tio. There
was an external attack to Tio some days ago where the content of all index
files were overwritten with the text “Internal Server Error”. The On-Rev
support tried to restore the files from an backup, but it seems at least in my
and Björnkes case the restore was not successful. I had to restore my sites
manually. Maybe other accounts were also not restored.

So i am pretty sure that if Björnke will fix his site. I just sent him an email
about that.

What i don´t understand is, why the support did not inform all customers who
have accounts on Tio, so they could check their site and could restore
manually. But that´s an other story.

I received answers that way in the past.

But in recent months, this does not seem to work very satisfactorily.
I am pretty sure it´s not David´s fault. The problem seems to be that David is
actually the only one who is fixing the bigger on-rev problems.
I mean that kind of problems Heather cannot solve.

It´s a lack of manpower at the moment.

I really hope that Livecode Ltd. will change this asap.

Re: wtf diesel?

2015-11-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D

Two or three days ago the On-Rev status page showed a high load of diesel.
Although the server load of diesel is now low again, it could be that the
server has to deliver a massive amount of emails which get stuck due to the
high load.

And this could be the reason why the emails are now coming in w/o order. Newly
sent emails could be delivered earlier than the “older” ones in the queue.
This is a “normal” behavior after such an event. At least i experienced the
same behavior on non On-Rev servers also.

Re: Indy doubles in price because of HTML5 export ?

2015-11-06 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
It was stated before by Livecode/Runrev that HTML5 will be an extra for which
you have to pay.

I had also an Enterprise license and if i remember right only Win/Mac/Linux
deployment was included.
Mobile deployment and Livecode server were extras for which one had to pay for.

What i definitely know is, that the Lifetime Commercial License(now special
Indy License without revenue limit) from the first Kickstarter campaign(the
open source campaign) includes
all existing and all future platforms. So HTML5 is definitely included in that
license.

Re: recursion limit when creating file list of harddrive

2015-10-25 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Thanks for all your comments.
Richard was right, my recursion limit error was caused by the fact that the
directory could not be set.
It was, like Alex assumed, a strange character in a folder. After i changed
that folder name in my “sample” harddrive i was able to import the drive.
In future my program will ask if the customer wants to continue or quit when
the directory change was not successful with some additonal information about
the folder.

And Alex, thanks for your script.

Matthias

recursion limit when creating file list of harddrive

2015-10-24 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,

long time ago i created a program which creates a list of files of backup cds
or dvds and stores that listings in a database with some additional information
like cd name/number.
So if the customer needs to know on which cd/dvd a needed fileis, the database
can be searched. This worked fine a long time. But with time the customer used
harddrives for the backups.
So they imported now the file listing of harddrives. Even that worked fin. But
now with bigger drives and more stuff stored on the drives my program is not
able to import the file listing anymore if the number of files/folders exceed a
special number. It just freezes.

If i try to create a directory listing of such a drive in Livecode i get an
recursion limit error telling me that the recursion limit of 40 was
reached. I tried to increase that limit, but i still get that error, but with
the newly set value.

I am using a script snippet which was posted by Scott Rossi to the list and was
originally from Geoff Canyon in 2002.
http://lists.runrev.com/pipermail/metacard/2002-August/002274.html

Is there a way to scan a complete drive with LC regardless how many folders and
subfolder that drive contains without getting that recursion limit error?

Regards,

Matthias

Was anyone able to successfully make the payment for the plegdge?

2015-09-28 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,

received the “Your pledege is due” email from Livecode. But i am not able to
finalize the payment through paypal.
After entering the login details i see the spinning icon and “Sie werden
eingeloggt” (You will be logged in). But after some time the icon and the text
dissappears and i just see the cart on the left side without any button.

Am i the only one experiencing this or are there others, too?

Regards,
Matthias

Re: Was anyone able to successfully make the payment for the plegdge?

2015-09-28 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I was finally abel to finalize the PayPal payment. But i had to deactivate my
security keys in my PayPal settings first. After that i was able to login and
make the payment.

So if anyone else is running into this, try to temporarily deactivate the
security keys in your PayPal settings. You can activate them again after the
payment.

I have no idea what caused the problem, but at least i was able to pay. ;)

Re: The Feature Exchange Progress

2015-09-22 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I hope that at least 2 of that 4 features will be funded. The 2 i pledged
for. ;)

And i really hope that this new Feature Exchange will help Livecode (the
company) to raise enough money in the future to keep their good work.

Although i am more interested in the Remote Debugger feature, i pledged also
for Mac 64bit as i think that is also important for many of us.

Hi John,

please excuse. That was bullshit. I should have reread my answer before
posting. Just replace file: with ftp:// in the examples. That should work.

put tData into
URL”ftp://HERCOMESTHEUSERNAME:herecomesthepassw...@ftp.mymftpserver.com
”

Re: Mobile ftp

2015-09-21 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi John,

to upload a file by ftp to an ftp server you need to add the username and
password to the put statement and also if the file is a ascii/text or a binary
file
E.g.

put tData into
URL”file:HERCOMESTHEUSERNAME:herecomesthepassw...@ftp.mymftpserver.com”

this put a text/ascii file into the root folder of the ftp account
put tData into
URL”file:HERCOMESTHEUSERNAME:herecomesthepassw...@ftp.mymftpserver.com”

or to put the text file into an existing subfolder named “testupload” use

put tData into
URL”file:HERCOMESTHEUSERNAME:herecomesthepassw...@ftp.mymftpserver.com/testupload/"

Replace file with binfile if you want to upload a binary file.

Matthias

If you want to upload a file then you have to use

put URL myvar into URL “ftp://…..;

where myvar contains the the path to a file and as prefix file: or binfile:
e.g.

binfile:c:/users/matthias/documents/test.jpg

Re: [ANN] LiveCode External to validate the MAS Receipt

2015-09-15 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
First i have to admit that i have no clue about c programing. I know that is a
really good precondition for what i want to do….

I tried now with receigen.app. Creating the needed code with receigen is really
easy, but the further steps are my problem.

fI i try to build according to the steps in the video, then i get errors and
warnings. Most of the warnings tell me that there is deprecated stuff in the
code, not in the code created with receigen, but in the code provide in the
xcode project.
And i get errors that “_stack” was not found. I assume that has to do with fact
that i need to link to OpenSSL. At least that requirement can be found in the
first comment lines of the created receigen.h file:
// This generated code has to be linked to OpenSSL (either statically or
dynamically).

I will stop here. I wanted to publish my app for free in the app store and i
know i can do it anway without this validation. But w/o that validation stuff i
will publish it on my website instead.

What about the other Livecode apps in the Mac App store? Is no one doing such a
validation?

And another thing. I see that receigen.app offers also to create such code for
iOS.

Does that mean, that the iOS apps created with Livecode could be copied to and
used on IOS devices of users who did not downloaded/purchased it with their
apple id?

Regards,
Matthias

The reason why i asked was to avoid buying receigen.app and then finding out
that it does not work anymore.

But i will take the risk and will let you know.

Re: What is this - is anyone making money?

2015-08-19 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I am pretty sure there are many who made and still make money with Livecode
apps.

I for example have an app, unfortunately a niche product, which i am selling
through Kagi for some time which gives me some revenue. I am selling round
about 10 to 20 copies a month.

I´ve created 6 iOS and Android apps for customers. 5 of them are listed under
the customer names.

I´ve created an inhouse iPad app for a customer which is used by sales
representatives to sell products to undertakers.

And i´ve created several inhouse apps (pricelist tools, reporting tools,
download portals and other db stuff) some in combination with livecode server
for use in our own company.
Okay, with our inhouse stuff i did not earn money, but we spent a lot, because
we did not have to hire some one to do this for us.

At the moment i cannot earn a living with my LiveCode stuff, but i am still
happy with LiveCode, because i see at least some revenue.

Another question is where is the beef for the different apps. Games, plays -

There have been quite a few comments and clearly a number of different views
amongst members of the community. I would like to add my perspective.

The LiveCode Kickstarter campaign was very unusual in that the LiveCode could
fulfil all of the rewards without actually having to complete the project.
The rewards consisted of gifts and existing LiveCode products.

In one sense, LiveCode completed the Kickstarter campaign when all the
rewards had been delivered. I’m sure that Kickstarter would take this view.

But then the Kickstarter campaign is not yet completed. ;) The printed
dictionary reward was not yet sent.

Anyway, luckily lifetime commercial license owners have a license for all

[OT] FlipPDF for 19$ instead of 99$

2015-07-22 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,

maybe this is of interest for you.

FlipPDF (Win or Mac) from flipbuilder.com is for sale for 19$ at

https://dealfuel.com/seller/flip-pdf-page-flip-software/

With this tool you can convert PDFs to Win Exe, Mac OS X App or to Flash and/or
HTML5.
You can even export the flipbooks as a plugin for Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla.

I´ve just got a confirmation email from Flipbuilder.com that this offer is
legal.

And no, i do not earn anything for recommending this offer here. ;)

I am using the Mac version for over a year now and i am really satisfied with
it. I created e.g. restaurant menu cards which are installed on tablet
computers.

Regards,
Matthias

 Hello list
I have different apps used by clients that make requests to LC scripts on
a server. All this stuff is a few years old and all scripts urls are in
the .irev format. I would like to use instead new .lc scripts without
having to rewrite, recompile and redistribute the apps.
Can I use the htaccess file to have all url requests ending with .irev
triggering the .lc scripts instead (similar scripts but using the most
 recent engine) ?
 If yes, how to ?
The main reason behind that is that I've been told that .irev scripts use
the legacy engine, which is plagued with random bugs...

 Thanks in advance

we have three founder packages here and all show 100GB in cPanel. If yours

Given the ever-larger variety of systems that use multitouch I hope this will

has already been done for tablets and phones.

 Hi LiveCoders

One thing I’ve wanted for a long time is for the Test button to deploy to iOS
devices in the same way that it does on Android. mergTestApp was part of the
way there but I’ve gone the rest of the way with a new plugin called
mergDeploy. Just install the stack and associated external in your plugins
folder and LiveCode will recognise when you plugin an iOS device and list it
in the Test Targets submenu. You can then click the Test button and it will
install onto your device. Great for rapidly testing on a device where it
 counts.

This new plugin is available from mergExt.com http://mergext.com/ for $9 or
bundled in mergExt Complete which is now $940 worth of products for $299.

 See http://mergext.com/plugins/mergdeploy/

Re: OT mysql select command works on windows, but not on On-Rev or Mac

Thanks Mark.

But the DB is only 64kb in size at the moment. So the maximum query size should
not matter. I checked the On-Rev settings in my account for max_allowed_packet
and i get 268435456. This should be enough, shouldn´t it?

I will try on windows myself and will compare the settings with my Mac

Thanks again.

thanks for recommending Keystore Explorer.

I can open my keystore file w/o problem.

Maybe my problems have to do with the fact that i have setup my mac in April

Is it possible that there are some certificates or keys missing?

 Hi,

 maybe i am missing something.

I have to update an app i uploaded to the google store mid 2014.

For creating the standalone i am using of course the same keystore file i
used for the version from 2014.

After i enter alias and the 2 passwords i get the following error message

“There was an error while saving the
 standalone application
signing failed - keystore load: Inavlid

 What could cause this error?

I wanted to try a fresh version of the android SDK to see if this solves my
problem, so I downloaded the most recent version of Android SDK and
installed SDKs for 2.2 and 2.3.
But with the new version i get an error “There was an error while saving the
standalone application. could not generate package manifest”. The most
version of the Android SDK Build-tools are installed in SDK Manager.

So if someone has an idea what is going wrong here.

I am working on Mac OS X 10.10.3, LC 6.7.5, Android SKD 24.3 and JDK 1.6.

I know 1.6 is outdated, but i need it for a iSCSI driver which only runs with

Re: LC Android: Invalid Keystore Format error when saving a standalone for deployment

2015-06-11 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Jacque and Ralph,

thanks for your comments.

There were several problems i had to fix.

1. it seems all copies of my “old” android sdk did not work anymore. Tried here
4 different versions which were stored on different time machine drives. I had
to install a new version of it.

2. I had an icon image in standalone settings selected which had a wrong size
(512x512). Interestingly it worked with that image when i first published that
app in 2013. But now this image caused the package manifest error

3. Not really a problem. I noticed today that if i enter the password very fast
and definitely without a typo some characters seem not to find there way into
the field.
I am writing with 10 fingers and i am really fast. And if i type slowly i am
always able to create a standalone (after fixing the above 2 problems). But not
if i type very fast. If i remember right now, i ran into this already in 2013.
I have now put a notice in 1Password for my “Keystore” password/alias record.
So i have not to ask the list in 2 years again. ;)

Regards,

Matthias

Re: Simple .lc Script to INSERT data...?

2015-06-05 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
John,

if you post data to a livecode server script then you need to use $_post[]
instead of $_get

$_get[] is used if you add the parameters to the url like

put URL (http://username.on-rev.com/ipad_1/add_datga_2.lc?object_name=“
tName) into tResult

 Hi All,

I must be missing something simple and I can’t find it…

I have a mysql database with one table and one field. Varchar(1000)

I have a LiveCode project with one button and the following code:

 on mouseUp
put urlEncode(the name of target) into tName
   put object_name= tName into ArgList
   --answer ArgList
   post tArgList to URL http://username.on-rev.com/ipad_1/add_data_2.lc;
 end mouseUp

My .lc file looks like this:

 ?lc
 put revOpenDatabase
 (mysql”,username.on-rev.com”,username_ipad_2”,username_ipad_2”,password)
  into tConID
 put ipad_data into tTableName
 put $_GET[object_name] into object_name
 put object_name into tFields

put INSERT INTO tTableName ( tFields ) VALUES (:1); into tSQL

 revExecuteSQL tConID, tSQL, object_name
 revCloseDatabase tConID
 put empty
 ?

The .lc script creates a new record but it never puts the name of the button
in the object_name field? The record is completely empty. I was having the
same problem on a much more complex database and script, so I thought I would
super simplify but I’m still having the problem.

Does anybody see anything I’m missing?

 Thank you!

Re: Status of on-rev restore?

Hi Howard,

just a shot in the dark, but maybe the SAGE server accept only ssl/tls
connections.
So you could try to change the account settings in your email client.
change the ports and select ssl or tls. It depends on your mail client which
option it shows.

Change the
pop3 port from 110 to 995 (if you are using pop3 to fetch you email)
imap port from 143 to 993 (if you are using imap)
smtp port from 25 to 587

Re: Communication Suggestion for LiveCode (RunRev)

2015-05-07 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I suggested such an info page, which informs about planned and urgent
maintenance or about any other related stuff, a long time ago.
I mentioned that this also would reduce the urgent support requests, because in
cases of a server fault the users could see there is already someone working to
fix the problem.

I also suggested to inform the customers by email if and when „normal“
maintenances are planned.

Maybe after this big bang they will think about such an info page.

Re: Status of on-rev restore?

2015-05-07 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi Howard,

if you want to get to know on which server you are hosted, just open your
website url with :2083 to open cpanel.

e.g. http://YOURACCOUNTNAME.on-rev.com:2083

You will then forwarded to the appropriate server and the url in the browser
address field changes to SERVERNAME.on-rev.com:2083.

Re: OT : Hosting providers

2015-05-04 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I just noticed, that one of our accounts which is on JASMINe since 2013 (it was
moved from pancake at that time), now shows also old DB data from 2014.

Not only our shop is no showing outdated products, but also it is not working
correctly anymore because the onfiguration is stored in the db also and we are
changing passwords regularly. Even our user access db for download is not up to
date any more.

This shows me
1.they did not delete the old account data on Pancake after our move to
jasmine in 2013 and did include that old data in every backup.
2. they do not have a correct overview which accounts are on which system.

So if there are others who moved from Pancake to Jasmine some time ago. Check
your Databases.

Regards,

Matthias

Re: OT : Hosting providers

2015-05-04 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Just to clarify: I have to correct my self. The DBs were not overwritten. I can
see the current data using phpMyAdmin.
Only our shop is not able to show the current data. Interestingly new orders
and customers can also be seen. Only data between April 2014 and up to 30rd
April 2015 cannot be seen.

So no old backup was restored to our „old“ jasmine account.

Re: On-Rev server Pancake problems - old backup restored?

2015-04-30 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I am seriously thinking of leaving the On-Rev platform.

I have several accounts, lifetime and payed ones on different servers.
In the past i always have born when there were problems with one of the servers.
I even felt negative comments about the reliability of the On-Rev platform as
unfair and i defended RunRev and On-Rev.

But this incident now is one of many in the past. Please don´t get me wrong.

I do not blame David Williams. He doing what is possible. But my understanding
is that he is the only one who is responsible for such bigger problems.
At least he is the one who replies to emergency support request regardless if
at day or at night.

I do blame Runrev to not having extended their On-Rev staff and improve the
On-Rev platform.

Btw: Does „ringing the bell“ at NASDAQ and showing ones logo cost money? If so,
Runrev better would have invested that money into the On-Rev platform and the
support staff.
It does not make sense to go for new customers also for On-Rev if you cannot
handle it afterwards.

At this stage i cannot recommend On-Rev as a professional hosting platform
anymore.

I am really pissed of now.

Matthias (who is now preparing to repair his sites in the hope no other old
backup is restored)

 Hi Matthias,

We have been a bit too strict regarding the validity of Xcode 6.2 on

meanwhile, if you have a look at the bug report

 regarding the minimum iOS version.

I still have no clue how the „Build for“ in standalone settings does work or

iOS app crashes under iOS 8.3 sporadically when doing a revopendb

2015-04-20 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Under iOS 8.3 one of my apps sporadically crashes when opening an sqlite
database.
In the majority of cases a 2nd start of the app (sometimes after 5th or 10th
start) resolves this problem and it´s possible to open and close the db as
often as one likes. But when restarting the app it could happen that the app
again crashes when opening the sqlite database.

I am at a loss with that. Has anyone else noticed such behavior?

I reported a bug that sometimes LC5 did not attach the database drivers to the

My fault was i forgot to add a „pass savestackrequest“ to the SaveStackRequest

I am sure you will never forget to set the visible of a scroller to true, like
i ever won´t forget to add that „pass savestackrequest“ thing. ;)

  on bug 15118
  from Panos Merakos

Hi John,

We had a deeper look in the scripts of the sample stacks you have attached,
 and
found the problem. You have not set the visible of the scroller to true, and
this is why it does not scroll. This is what we did to resolve the issue:

 1. In stack local directory copy.livecode:
Go to card id 1011, and add the following line in the buildScroller handler
 (at
the point where you set the scroller properties)

 iphoneControlSet scrollID, visible, true

 2. In stacks textScroll.livecode and PicsHorz copy.livecode, this line already
exists, and thus the scrollers work as expected.

 3. In stack scroll704.livecode:
Go to card id 1002, and add the following line in the buildScroller handler
 (at
the point where you set the scroller properties):

 iphoneControlSet scrollID, visible, true

Can you please let us know if this fixes the problem for you?

 Warmest regards,
 Panos

presumably this is how databases are controlled. But I emphatically have not
seen a dialog or a field asking me for a password for the database itself. As
I can’t put attachments on this list, i have simply made the test again (log
in to cPanel, go to ‘mySQL databases’, click on ‘create database’ - the name
had to begin with my On-Rev name and an underscore), and I confirm that the
database is created with no password anywhere. I know that the Joomla
database connection process thinks that my database has a password, but the
only passwords I have are for the users and the cPanel itself.

Let me add this too. In Cpanel when you create a database, you're asked to

as your Cpanel login, but can be if that's how you create your database. And
as I mentioned previously, when connecting to MySQL it's username_database

Re: Database error?

2015-04-09 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Graham,

i just did a quick test on Diesel, which is the server where your account is
hosted, and DB connections are working.

Maybe a dumb question, but are you in any case trying to connect to the MySQL
DB from your Livecode App/IDE ?

If so you need to

1. configure „Remote MySQL “ in cPanel to allow the remote access to
your DB.

2. use the following servername for connection YOURACCOUNTNAME.on-rev.com
if using localhost for the server the LC app/IDE tries to connect to a
MySQL DB on your computer instead of connecting to your On-Rev MySQL DB.

Warning: Please be aware that configuring remoteAccess for MySQL for your
on-rev account is a security risk and should be avoided.

If you tried to connect from a LC server script then either your script is
wrong or the On-Rev server is having some problems, maybe only with your
account.

Try the following script. Create a file e.g. dbtest.lc, put the sample script
into it and upload it to your public_html folder and open it in your browser:

http://YOURACCOUNTNAME.on-rev.com/dbtest.lc

If the output is a number then connection works, otherwise you will see an
error message in your browser

?rev
set the errormode to inline
put revopendatabase(MYSQL,localhost“,YOURDBANME“,“YOURDBUSERNAME not your
accountname“,“YOURDBUSER PASSWORD) into tDBID
put tdBID
repeat for each item i in revopendatabases()
   revclosedatabase i
end repeat
?

Matthias

So, does anyone here know anything at all about installing Joomla on an

have you as a team member. They would include at least one of your devices in

to 100 devices. If they only need about 10, that would cover quite a few
 employee and device changes.

And if i remember right every year you can reset that list of devices. This
would allow you to delete non active devices and it increases the number of
possible test devices again.

A better option is if you can get the client to join the iOS Developer

It's $299/year but then you can get Enterprise distribution profiles/

Re: OT Wordpress installation on On-Rev server Diesel fails

2015-03-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Mark,

thanks for that info. Was not aware of that.

In the meantime the customer was able to install the „custom“ version of
Wordpress.

Installation was denied, because i had installed an account wide .htaccess
firewall some months ago.

This firewall protects against evil exploits, bad requests, and other
nefarious garbage“.
http://perishablepress.com/5g-blacklist-2013/

I had to disable it for the installation process and enabled it after
installation.

Not sure. Diesel has an up-to-date WP installed already. It can be
added via the control panel. Shouldn't have to install anything.

OK. Sounds like you've got this under control.
But I think if you've installed your own WordPress copy then you're
 responsible
for keeping it updated, as opposed to running the version on-rev supplies.

The On-Rev integrated one is updated automatically?
Only security patches or also version upgrades?
I would have no problem with security updates,
but automatically upgrading to newer versions is not what i would want.

Re: OT Wordpress installation on On-Rev server Diesel fails

2015-03-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
I just checked his installation. And can assure you it´s version 4.1.1.
With custom i meant, Wordpress and other needed files.
The customer has hired a professional Wordpress developer with several years of
experience. This guy wanted to upload/install by his own to be sure all needed
files are there. So i am confident that there is no security risk except the
ones which might be in 4.1.1.

Matthias

Well, I'd be *very* wary of doing that.
I believe the the on-rev servers have the latest version of WP
installed, with the latest security patches in place. WordPress is
notoriously insecure, so you could be letting yourself and other users
on that same server (me, for instance) in for a lot of trouble by
 installing a different custom version.

OT Wordpress installation on On-Rev server Diesel fails

2015-03-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe | M-R-D
Hi,

one of my customers has a On-Rev account on Diesel. He´s trying to install
Wordpress into it and is getting the following error

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /wp-admin/install.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request.“

when he tries to open the wp installer script.
He added a addon domain which root is ~/public_html/www2. Into the www2 folder
he has copied the complete wordpress stuff.

Btw: A info.php file which is in the same folder than the installer script is
executed w/o error.

Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong?

Regards,

Matthias
