No session recording - OM 6.10

2021-08-22 Thread Lee But
Hello,

How is session recording done?
I have clicked the button in the top-right corner, and Actions >
Share/Record Screen, but nothing seems to happen. There are no recordings
in the list.

Thanks.

2021-08-24 Thread Lee But
@Ali, I went to the room, but the share button does nothing using Firefox
and Chromium.

Server: Debian 10
Kernel: 4.19.0 (Cannot upgrade - OpenVZ)
CPU: AMD Opteron 4386 - 1 core
RAM: 2GB guaranteed

All packages relating to Openoffice were installed according to the user
guide.

Thanks,
Lee.

iptables rule stops tomcat/catalina

2021-08-24 Thread Lee But
Hello,
I've applied the various iptables rules as per the installation guide and
VPS securing (see attached iptables.txt file), while docker has added many
'chains' I don't understand. iptables is new to me.

Everything works until I apply the rule iptables -A INPUT -j DROP
After that, tomcat/catalina does not start. I have these commands in a bash
script:
sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart
sudo /etc/init.d/coturn restart
sudo /etc/init.d/docker restart
sudo docker restart kms
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat34 restart

This is what I see this in the terminal:

2021-08-24 Thread Lee But
Hello,

I turned off self-registering, and when I set up a user as admin, no
verification email is sent despite the key being set to true.

Also, the email that contains the user's account details does not contain
the password, nor a link to the openmeetings page, so they cannot log in.
Here's the message:

2021-08-24 Thread Lee But
Thank you for your help.
We have worked out that the problem is likely with my computer setup and
not a server problem.
@ali, thank you very much for your help with troubleshooting.

All the best,

Re: No session recording - OM 6.10

2021-08-24 Thread Lee But
I installed Opera browser, which worked.
Then I thought it could be browser extensions on the other browsers.
I disabled them one at a time. When I disabled ublockOrigin, it worked. I'm
not sure what ublockOrigin is doing.

Something simple in the end.

Re: How to change email templates?

2021-08-31 Thread Lee But
Hello,

I amended the RegisterUserTemplate.html file (see below), but when I added
a user I was greeted by the "Something bad happen[ed]" screen.
This wicket code is confusing me a bit because I don't really know where to
put my amendments. First, I added the lines shown below inside the
block, and then outside. Both failed.

Follow this URL to login. If this is your first time logingg in,
change your password first.

I amended the file after stopping all of the Om related servers.

Thanks,
Lee

Where is the privacy policy file, please?

2021-08-28 Thread Lee But
Hello,

I'd like to change the privacy policy page, but I cannot find where it is.
I have looked in the folders under /opt/open610, the default folder as per
tutorials.

I do not use Google Spyware on my site, so I'd like to remove that part
about Google.

All the best,
Lee

Re: Where is the privacy policy file, please?

2021-08-28 Thread Lee But
Hello Ali,

That's what I call Google Services, as generally that's what they are:
spies. They track, and follow users around the internet often without the
user's awareness, which is spying.
Anyway. I've just found the privacy policy in the docs folder, so I can
make the changes.

I keep Google locked down as much as I can. I only use Gmail (via a VPN)
because I don't want my personal email addresses publicly broadcast in a
public user group.

Regards,
Lee

2021-08-31 Thread Lee But
I realised that I hadn't closed the block.
Changing that template did nothing to what was emailed, so I don't know
which template I need to amend.

Re: How to change email templates?

2021-08-31 Thread Lee But
Hello Sebastian,
Thank you for your answers.

Yes, I made a bash script to stop the servers that are mentioned in the
installation tutorial from the openmeetings site:
sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop
sudo /etc/init.d/coturn stop
sudo /etc/init.d/docker stop
sudo docker stop kms
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat34 stop

This is the first time I've had a VPS, set it up and installed OpenMeetings
on it, so I have no idea about how to change the ports in OM, nor which
component determines the port.
I just followed the tutorial, which I assumed was following best practices,
since it is linked to from OpenMeetings.

Regards,
Lee

Re: How to change email templates?

2021-08-31 Thread Lee But
@sebastian, I guess this is for people who are network/backend experts.
I did change instances of 5443 to 443 that were already uncommented, but
then OM was not accessible at all. Changed it back.

@Maxim, I have attached a copy of the file I changed.
Thank you.

I'm testing with my own email addresses until I am sure that I have

I think that would be great. Also, a link to the login page would be
useful, as without it, users don't know the URL of the website.

Re: No session recording - OM 6.10

2021-08-25 Thread Lee But
Hello,

Can this issue with ublockOrigin blocking screen sharing and recording be
added as a known issue to the installation guides and user manuals, and on
the website somewhere?
It looks like ublockOrigin must be disabled for the site. Despite not
actively filtering, it is doing something.
Maybe some others can test to reproduce.

Thanks,
Lee

I have an update.
It looks like my VPS is not opening ports by default, so not having that

Isn't there a way to send an ID key in the invitation email that can
automatically remove the record that matches the key. Or, match the email
address?

Re: Registering on behalf of users - no confirmation email

2021-08-25 Thread Lee But
Hello Maxim,

The is just to point to the website that
openmeetings is on so that the user can recognise it. Example, Maxim
Solodonvik at www.openmeetings.apache.org has invited you to join their
online meeting room(s).
Perhaps, it would be better if the admin could create an 'organisation
name' and have that in the invitation instead.

The , would point directly to a page to change the password and
complete registration.

What I mean by 'deregister' is to remove the information that the admin
created: names, password and email address. That may not be clear.

I suppose it could read, 'If you have received this invitation in error or
do not wish to join the meeting room(s), please *click here* to deregister
your information shown in this email.'

2021-08-25 Thread Lee But
Hello Maxim,

Here are two templates. One is formal, the other informal. I think it would
be useful for admins to view default templates and create their own
invitations as well.
possible keys could be:

send.formal.invite.to.user.created.by.admin
send.casual.invite.to.user.created.by.admin
send.custom.invite.to.user.created.by.admin

In the examples below, the name order could be swapped according to the
language being used.

I still haven't been able to work out what's wrong.
Everytime I add the iptables -A INPUT -j DROP rule, OpenMeetings cannot be
reached by the browser and times out, and restarting the servers in my

I had this problem.
Are you using Firefox?
Have you changed the *about:config* settings?
Make sure that *media.peerconnection.enabled* = true

Oh, I read the message too quickly.
My error was slightly different, but it was about RTCPeerConnection, so my
solution may not be directly related.

How to change email templates?

2021-08-30 Thread Lee But
Hello,
I'd like to change the account details e-mail template to include the login
page, as the current one does not provide a link for the user to log in:

Which template is that? I know nothing about wicket., so I don't know where
the text is pulled from.

Thanks,
Lee.

Re: Registering on behalf of users - no confirmation email

2021-09-01 Thread Lee But
1) Perhaps there is no need for a new template, just make it possible for
an admin-registered user to follow a link to log in.
Yes, a password with registration is a bad idea.
Which methods are available for a user to log in without knowing their
password if not sent by the admin?
My bank sends verification codes via email, so I suppose there must be some
way to use email securely.

2) I think the base url is enough, the same as the application.base.url key
in configuration.

@maxim,

Probably. In the configuration it is the same as the key:
application.base.url
Which directory is that template in, so I can amend it?

Should I register the user@openmeetings.apache.org address as a user so you
can see the email directly?

Re: Some uploads - error converting - file not found

Thanks, Denis.

It is probably the number of pages / slides, then. The pptx file sent to me
has 96 slides of text points.
They duplicated the previous slide for each change instead of using
transitions on one slide. It is 488k.

Thanks again,
Lee

@Denis, @Jeffry,

Hello,
youtube-dl works well on Linux to download YT videos to a local directory.
Check the licence before downloading anything from YT. The YouTube Standard
licence does not allow third-party distribution. Look for videos with a
Creative Commons licence.

How do remote users connect to localhost?

2013-08-22 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello,

I think it's working on localhost (installed okay), but how do remote users
logo on to my room?
The generated URL is for localhost:5080, but when I replace localhost
with my IP address, there is no connection.

Thanks,

Lee.

Re: How do remote users connect to localhost?

Hello Alvaro,

Adding the IP address blocked myself from accessing the rooms. 'Missing'
errors when the first page loads.
I think there are still problems because when I double click Red5.bat,
there are errors of omitted common frames, whatever they are.

Thanks anyway.

I could find the default time zone in Administration Configuration

There is no selection box to change it though.

Thank you for helping.
It's confusing me, though. There is the IP address that is visible to the

get access to the local IP address as well from the Internet.

Re: Unable to install on Win 7 x64

2013-08-23 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello Maxim,

Thanks for that.
That was the first zip file I tried installing.
When I add the connector (msi file) and run it in the WEB-INF/lib folder,
no new files appear.
After removing the 'persistence' file and renaming 'mysql_persistence' to
'persistence', and changing the root and password, all I get is a HTTP 500
error:

java.lang.NullPointerException

org.apache.velocity.tools.view.VelocityView.performMerge(VelocityView.java:942)
org.apache.velocity.tools.view.VelocityView.merge(VelocityView.java:902)

org.apache.velocity.tools.view.VelocityViewServlet.mergeTemplate(VelocityViewServlet.java:318)

org.apache.velocity.tools.view.VelocityViewServlet.doRequest(VelocityViewServlet.java:220)

org.apache.velocity.tools.view.VelocityViewServlet.doGet(VelocityViewServlet.java:182)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:621)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:728)

 org.red5.logging.LoggerContextFilter.doFilter(LoggerContextFilter.java:77)
.

Regarding remote access, I still haven't go a clue.
I set forwarding '5080' from my router to my network IP address (static),
so I thought that might direct http://myip:5080/openminutes to my Open
Meetings installation. It seems that is not the case.

So confusing.
I will try one more time from scratch. I thought the 3 steps, that are not
actually 3 steps, were going to be less time consuming that this.

Thanks anyway,

Lee.

Office document upload failed

I always get a big 'DELETED' box when I try to add office documents, such

Screenrecording works on my computer. There was a Java problem, but that

Is there a way to record audio and the screen at the same time?

Why don't calendar events expire?

All in all, Open Meetings is a great service. Thank you for creating it.

 seba.wag...@gmail.com wrote:

We actually never physically delete anything, we just mark/flag as
deleted and don't show it in the UI anymore.

There are multiple reasons why you do that in software. For instance
there are are often foreign key constraints. That means that you can't
physically delete an user, cause this userId is a foreign key in some other
tables. And by deleting the user physically you would get an inconsistance
 data model.
This will become a real issue when you work with databases that have
real foreign keys (postgres, oracle, MySQL InnoDB, et cetera). However
even with data on disk in files, just because you can delete those files
without throwing any error does not mean that this is a good idea, as for
example records in the database still point to that file. By doing that the
data model simply becomes inconsistent. Some references are missing, it
pretty much gets a mess if you start to delete files.

Another reason is that you want to keep track on changes that have
happened. This is sometimes a legal requirement in companies and
government. You just never delete hard, data must be always possible to be
restored. For instance an user xyz claims his important file XXX was
deleted at the 28.12.2009, now the sys admins need to recover that file.

There are however attempts to have some kind of clean up tasks that
delete such references to free up disk space. But if ever implemented it
has to be done very carefully and clear to the sys admin that there is no
way back, you will loose data and you probably should back up the data
 before doing it.

Bottom line is: Don't delete, just flag as deleted.

 Sebastian

 2013/8/25 Lee Saunders leesenglishless...@gmail.com

Ah, I see. I guess that does make sense. I just worry about having a
list of rooms that becomes too long to manage.
Perhaps then, completed meetings could go into an archive\ completed
events section, thus keeping them separate from pending events.

I have also noticed that deleted recordings remain in the streams folder
(..\webapps\openmeetings\streams\). Why don't they get deleted when moved
 to trash?

 All the best,

 Lee.

relationship between room to calendar event is not 1:1.

Hello Jake,

Thank you for your help. I think everyone knows more about that than I do.
I don't know about programming applications. I learnt some PHP and MySql
from books to build an order tracking/customer info database system, and
that was it.

I did experience a recording issue today. A student left the room and
returned, but the recorder didn't record any of their voice after they
returned to the room, so only my half was recorded. I'll put that down
to experience.

I could perhaps learn from the source, thanks.

Is it not possible to GET the user IDs for a roomID and delete the

delete anything, even under a warning, is somewhat restrictive and disc

of the admin/IT team and management. Besides, there should be a backup of
 all that data anyway.

I guess the only other way around it is to record a 1-second video and

will remain intact. It will be time consuming, but better than rendering my

 Not really.
The files in the /streams/hibernate folder are the final videos of the
recordings. If you delete them all your recordings are gone.

The files in the /streams/$ROOM_ID folders are the raw recording files.
Based on those files there is a complete video mixed (that is then produced
 into the /streams/hibernate folder).
Theoretically you can delete the files in the /streams/$ROOM_ID folder
as the final mixed video is already produced.
However for recordings based on the interview room type, there is a
functionality to re-render the raw data but with some parameters to adjust
the audio (make it loader, delay the audio, et cetera). Those are useful if
you want to post-edit the video from inside OpenMeetings because for
instance one participant has a microphone that is a lot loader then some
other participant. Once the video is mixed into the final format there
would be no way of re-adjusting those settings. So there is some button in
the OpenMeetings UI to re-render the raw files with some additional
 settings.
If you delete the files in the /streams/$ROOM_ID folders bascially the
UI functionality is pointing to files that do no more exist.
Also there are entries in the database that point to the files in the
/streams/$ROOM_ID directory. So in general, it would be basically a bad
idea to just delete those folders, UI functionality might be broken and the
 data model would be inconsistent.

Hello George,

I just saw your reply. I've been battling with this.
Maxim has been trying to help with an OM3 installation. All I'm getting
after changing the persistence file and adding a new DB is an internal
error.

 Lee,

Openmeetings will use the current database, which you need to DROP if you
are going to keep the same database name.

If you want to have two installations so you can compare between them,
when you are installing the second instance you can easily change the name
of the openmeetings database that you are creating and the name of the
database in the persistence.xml file. Of course you would have to install
openmeetings into folder by another name, this is not something that I have
ever bothered to do, but I believe would work.

*Step 4 - Install MySQL and configure OpenMeetings database*

 apt-get install mysql-server

 mysql -u root -p

 CREATE DATABASE openmeetings DEFAULT CHARACTER SET 'utf8';

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON openmeetings. * TO 'openmeetings'@'localhost'
 IDENTIFIED BY 'yourpassword' WITH GRANT OPTION;

 vi
 /usr/lib/red5/webapps/openmeetings/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/persistence.xml

Change the Username and Password to those you created in MySQL.

*Note*: if you want OpenMeetings to use an external database or your
MySQL is listening to a network address and not 127.0.0.1, then you can
replace localhost with your MySQL Server's IP address.

 , Url=jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/openmeetings?...

 , Username=*openmeetings*

 , Password=*yourpassword*/

*Step 4 - Install MySQL and configure OpenMeetings database*

 apt-get install mysql-server

 mysql -u root -p

 CREATE DATABASE openmeetings2 DEFAULT CHARACTER SET 'utf8';

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON openmeetings2. * TO 'openmeetings'@'localhost'
 IDENTIFIED BY 'yourpassword' WITH GRANT OPTION;

 vi /usr/lib/red5/webapps/openmeetings2
 /WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/persistence.xml

Change the Username and Password to those you created in MySQL.

*Note*: if you want OpenMeetings to use an external database or your
MySQL is listening to a network address and not 127.0.0.1, then you can
replace localhost with your MySQL Server's IP address.

 , Url=jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/openmeetings2?...

 , Username=*openmeetings*

 , Password=*yourpassword*/

 Thanks,

 George Kirkham

 Hello,

If I unpack 2.2 into a new folder on my drive (windows desktop), will OM

OM3.0.0 - Recording A/V not synced and other recordings issues.

2014-03-07 Thread Lee Saunders
Dear Forum,

Tried my first live classes today with students. Classroom behaviour works
as well as in 2.2. Nice!

I have noticed some things with the recordings:

1) File size is double that of OM 2.2 (just over 2Gb for 1-hour recording
with me and one student).
2) Audio and video of the downloaded AVI file is not in sync.
3) No playback available in the recordings area.
4) All recordings have warning icons (see attached image)

I like the new design to the admin and dashboard areas.
Well done!

All the best,

Which logs do you need?

An hour's class used to create an AVI file of around 1GB in 2.2, now it's
2Gb in ver 3.0.0.

Maybe you can create test 5 minutes recording using FPS == 2-5? In case it

Audio only - how to adjust stream volume?

2014-03-19 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello,

When in Audio and Video mode, it is possible to change the stream volume
with the slider, but there is no slider when in 'Audio only' mode.
How can users increase and decrease their microphone volume in 'audio only'
mode?

Thanks,

Lee.

Re: How to stop users unmuting their microphones.

Thank you, Maxim.

When A user 'asks a question' by pressing the icon to ask a question, and I
accept the request, OM gives the user all rights by default.

I guess you need to give user rights for audio/video (mic with plus icon)
 not moderator rights

 Hello,

I've done some further testing on OM3.

I opened up a room with myself and two attendees.

1] How can OM be set for mics to be globally muted upon entering a room?
2] Is it possible to prevent attendees from unmuting their microphones?
3] After attendee clicks to ask a question, granting rights does not
unmute their microphone, but it does give them FULL moderator's rights,
 which could be dangerous.

red5-shutdown.bat does nothing.

2014-03-30 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello,

Installed OM3.1 with existing DB (Moved persistance.xml).
red5-shutdown.bat does not shutdown the instance of Red5.

Via CMD window I see this message: I:\classes3\\conf\keystore.jmx was
unexpected at this time.

Thanks,

Lee.

OM 3.1 does not recognise my microphone inputs

2014-03-30 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello,

OM 3.1 only recognises my webcam as my audio device.
My microphone is on a USB adapter as my default device, which works fine in
OM 2 and 3.0, but not detected in 3.1.

Video in OM 3.0 is juddered when in a class. It looks like frames are
missing. In OM 2 and 3.1. live video is smooth.

Thanks,

Lee.

Time not changed for daylight saving

2014-03-30 Thread Lee Saunders
Hello,

The clocks moved forward today, but OM 3 is 1 hour behind. How can I change
it for daylight saving hours?

Thank you,

Lee.

Re: Time not changed for daylight saving

2014-03-30 Thread Lee Saunders
When creating rooms in from the calendar, the times that are set are 1 hour
behind.

The server is on my PC which is at GMT+1
I am also a test client on the same PC
In OM Administration Configuration, the TZ is Europe/London:
33
default.timezone
Europe/London

I have attached screen shots that show the time discrepancy.

All the best,

Lee.

 What TZ are you using?
Where do you see wrong time? (detailed steps to reproduce this would be

 Additional info required:
 1) server TZ
 2) client machine TZ
 3) client openmeetings TZ

 Thanks in advance

Re: Cannot upload libreoffice files

And me. I've had this problem for a long time.

Ok, here's what I've figured out reading openmeetings.log

  - Once you upload a .odt (for instance) it gets saved to
 /openmeetings/uploadtemp/files/ALPHANUMERIC.odt
  - JOD reads it and saves to /openmeetings/upload/files/ALFANUMERIC/ the
 conversion ALPHANUMERIC.swf and ALPHANUMERIC.odt itself.
  - openmeetings reads
 openmeetings/upload/files/ALPHANUMERIC/ALPHANUMERIC.swf and displays it
 onto the whiteboard

My problem is: even though the JOD conversion is successful (the log
says:START generate swf ALPHNUMERIC.swf) openmeetings can't find it in
openmeetings/upload/files/ALPHANUMERIC/ because there's only the original
 ALPHANUMERIC.odt in there
It's like JOD correctly generates the file but the it vanishes!
Does anybody have a tip for me?
  Cheers!

 Hello everybody!

I'm having troubles with uploading libreoffice files onto the
whiteboard: as I select one, after the upload all I get is a big orange
crossed rectangular box with deleted written on it.
Checking the openoffice.log the only thing noticable is

LOG DownloadHandler: The request file is not readable

But I don't think is a privilege issue, since pdf and jpeg coming from
the same directory are uploaded right.
What it makes it ever more confusing is that I have a mirror system in a
local PC with the same exact setup, and there it works perfectly!
Both the remote and local server are Ubuntu 12.04 LTS servers.
What could I check to troubleshoot this one?
I don't understand what is causing the error (jod? libreoffice?
 openmeetings itself?)...

  Thank you in advance

  Hi Giovanni,
I am actually having the same exact problem with my installation at
this time. I have done some research into jodconverter and it turns out
that there is a bug in the tag where the java errors if it is not java 1.5.
The reference is located in the description here:
 https://code.google.com/p/jodconverter/downloads/detail?name=jodconverter-core-3.0-beta-4-dist.zipI
have not figured out how to modify the jar file yet but it sounds like
that is what needs done for both of us :) If I figure out how to do it I
will supply a link to the modified file.
