Normal user access Cloudstack

[Mohd Zainal Abidin Rabani]

Hi,

We have client A. This client have a instance in cloudstack. So we want 
to create id from them. Then they can access their instance only. They 
can reset, shutdown, stop, re-install OS in instance. Is it possible to 
assign that to user? If does, please show me how.

I think it's not a bug since the IP is outside from cloudstack. Cloudstack 
doesn't know that ip already in use.

Router should not get an ip assigned to a VM. This is a bug, if you can get the

take ip that already use on other vm (solusvm). We need to change solusvm

Network Offering. And all have tagging. But the instance/VM's that we want to 
assign just using one NIC at the moment.

The error says that there are more than one physical networks in the zone.
Since there is not tag the api is unable to decide which network to choose.
Is should work if you provide the network id as the api parameter.

Issue with template

Hi,

 

I'm creating template from instance that install using ISO. After finish
install and reboot, I update OS from centos 5.6 to 6.8. Then I reboot again.
After reboot I shutdown the instance and create template from disk. After
creating template finish and available for use I try create new instance
from template that I created. After instance up and running using new
template I saw eth0 not available. It show only eth1. So I need to change in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. Is this normal or I miss any step?

For volume snapshot one can schedule it daily/weekly/monthly from GUI. You need

Snapshots capabilities are native to your hypervisor. ACS just uses API of 
hypervisors to instruct it to perform snapshot.
The most popular snapshot is disk snapshot, where disk is cloned and cloned 
disk copy moved to secondary storage via SSVM. This copy then can be used to 
produce new volume or template.

There are two type of snapshot ,



1- VM's snapshot

2- disk snapshot



and yes you can take either VM's snapshot or disk snapshot from running vm's

Problem is SSVM is disconnected from secondary storage, reboot didnot helped, i

IP 42.0.28.234 is virtual router. I think this is why the execute file

I got script reset password. I have created, tick on password enable and put
in instances. The script I put on /etc/rc.local. I also put script on
crontab like @reboot root /path/to/script. Then I reboot instance. From vnc,
I monitor to see script load or not startup. I found script not load. Any
idea what I miss?

Hi Mohd, is your instance using a HA compute offering? If so CloudStack will 
continue to restart the VM every time it's shut down from within the guest OS. 
To fully shut down a HA instance you have to carry this out from the CloudStack 
GUI.

Today I found weird thing. I have create instance, storage using ceph. After
doing yum update on instance, I shutdown the instance. After 5 mins, I show
running state on Home > Instances. So I try to connect using console. Guest
what, the instance still running. I try shutdown using shutdown -h now. A
few minute, instance still up again. I need to use force stop the instance.
Is this a bug?

4. Login VM. Can ping other VM in ACS host.
5. Shutdown VM.
6. Create template A1 from ROOT disk of VM. Waiting until template available.
7. Create another VM using new template A1. Set hostname test-1.
8. Access VM (from template A1). Notice the hostname set early from ISO. Not 
the new hostname.

Before proceed to create new template, there are no hostname in /etc/hosts. 
Just localhost.localdomain. I have following the URL to create template.

What OS are you using?
When your create the template from the ISO are you clearing the hostname and 
udev rules before make a template from the VM also clear the /etc/hosts file so 
there is only localhost addresses .

Use "o" the letter, not "0" the number when you echo.

Once you do that, the server powers off in an instant, make sure you can start 
it again, i.e. have physical access or ipmi.

10.2.30.10/24 (cloudstack management ip)
172.10.30.0/22 (public ip for cloudstack)
10.1.30.0/24 (ceph storage)
172.10.31.0/22 (public ip for vm)

IP for cloudstack management don't have access to internet. It just for
private only. I use ssvm check and found the dns on 10.2.30.11 cannot
resolve download.cloud.com. Is that the issue now?

I create another apache that run on port 80. But nothing happen. I can download

How to set root password on setup vm? I don't see any option there. Right
now after install I need to use vnc to login. After success login I will
force restart a vm and choose single mode. Then I reboot vm again. That is
the step that I use now. Any guide please.

I manage to get agent up and running on host. It's cause of libvirtd.service. 
When i stop libvirtd.service, then cloudstack-agent can be up.

The last issue is WebUI. Now i can access webUI. But other error occur. I
manage to setup cloudstack management server. But when i try to add
management server in UI i get error: Unable to add host. Unable to find the

Error Start Cloudstack

Sanjeev is right , to connect to a solidfire unit you need a volume 
setup already and the details for the unit (ie: the MVIP and SVIP)

I'm using shared storage NFS to connect both primary and secondary. The 
hypervisor is kvm run on centos7. I saw when using wizard to add zone, 
pod, cluster, host and primary storage the cloudstack-management keep 
checking command: lsmod | grep kvm. I'm not configure host-kvm.

Could you paste the full error from the logs , with a few lines before 
the error too please
Could you also give us a better understanding of your setup , what type 
of hypervisor , storage (NFS, iscsi)


The hosts the wizard normal add are the hypervisor's if they are kvm 
(this is normally done the first time you run the wizard)

Hi,

I have question here. From wizard for setup cloudstack-management, why 
management server need to add as host? Everytime i tried, same error 
come out: Unable to add host. I not sure which host it want to add. If 
kvm-host, it's already appear on host under Home > Infrastructure > 
Hosts. So what host it's mean about?
