I/O Error or other error.

2011-07-11 Thread Karan Zaveri
Hello,

When trying to connect with SMSC i am getting the following error.

2011-07-07 03:49:34 [22587] [8] ERROR: SMPP[smscMTn]: I/O error or other
error. Re-connecting.
2011-07-07 03:49:34 [22587] [8] ERROR: SMPP[smscMTn]: Couldn't connect to
SMS center (retrying in 10 seconds).

Has anyone faced this problem before? This does not seem to be an error
generated because of incorrect login credentials but something else, not
sure what is really causing this as the error is very unclear.

Sqlbox meta-data

2009-10-20 Thread Karan Zaveri
Hi All,

My SMPP provider requires 2 additional parameters to be passed to them for a
message to be successfully

routed. I was able to configure the smpp-tlv group for this and the message
successfully goes through the
bearerbox using the HTTP URL method. However, when I configure the Sqlbox
and try to send a message
it throws an error. Looking at the logs its clear the reason for this is
that the sqlbox is not sending the additional
parameters in its command and the SMPP provider is rejecting it because of
this. If somebody who has done this
before can tell me how to make Sqlbox send additional parameters to the
aggregator I would appreciate it. I looked
through the userguide documentation and googled for it but cant seem to find
a solution.

Thank You

Karan

RE: Character code conversion

2009-10-17 Thread Karan Zaveri
Hi Patrick,

Its simple look at the URL Seikath created the charset=%C will return you
the character set Kannel is sending back all
you need to do then is store that in a variable in your script or just dump
all that data in the post/get in an email or something so you
can see it. That’s what I did and it works.. here’s an example of the dump
that I get in an email when a new MO is received
by Kannel.

Fri Oct 16 18:18:52 2009,552 [32531] DEBUG main - Kannel Parameters:array (
 'source_no' = ***',
 'short_message' = 'ISS steve @ 6:18pm',
 'operator_id' = 'InstantSolUS',
 'receiver' = '69050',
 'time' = '2009-10-16 22:18:52',
 'charset' = 'UTF-8',
 'meta-data' = '?smpp?x=31002',
)

Hope that helps..

 What i mean is :
 1. set mo-recode=true
 2. restart the smsc.
 3. in the get-url add the charset code so you will know in what charset
kannel is doing the request.
 example:
 post-url =

http://localhost/smpp.php?from=%pmessage=%areceived=%Tcoding=%ccharset=
%Cto=%Psmsc_id=%ikannel_id=%Iudh=%udcs=%mmwi=%Msms-service=%nbinmess
=%bbillinfo=%Baccount_id=%f
 4. iconv ..

To clarify, the current CVS already has my patch in place (well, most of it,
there's still a part that needs to be properly reviewed and applied, but
what I'm explaining below does work already).

1. start-smsc will reload the configuration of an _existing_ smsc from disk
and restart it

2. add-smsc will load the configuration of a _new_ smsc from disk and start
it.

Check the CVS user guide for further details.

Alejandro

Hi,

If by binding you mean connect, there is currently limited live support
using the HTTP admin interface. You can start/stop SMScs that already exist
in the configuration file. Alejandro Guerrieri is working on a more
versatile patch that will update the configuration file for smscs on the
fly. It will work on completely new (not configured) smscs as well.

Still Having Multiple Issues..

2009-10-05 Thread Karan Zaveri
Hi Guys,

Sorry to bother you all again but I am still having few issues. I tried past
few days on my own but I can't seem to
get around these. I would appreciate any help. Alejandro, I am attaching the
logs as you requested last time.

Issue #1

The TLV's or the custom var's are not capturing the meta-data. I contacted
my SMSC provider and they said
they send all relevant data so there is something in the application that
needs to work properly. Please check the
attached configuration file and the relevant piece of log from the
bearerbox.
I see this error in the bearerbox may be that is the problem Error SMPP:
Optional field (my-custom-var) with invalid length (5) (should be 2)
dropped.

However if you look at my configuration file I set the length to 2 only so I
am not sure why its taking it as 5.

Issue #2

When a message is received all characters come in properly except the $ sign
it shows some weird star sign with a question
mark in it however all other special characters appear fine. I tried all
1,2,3 of alt-charset settings in the config and the
result is the same. For this I see another error in the bearerbox log file
(attached)

2009-10-05 15:11:43 [13883] [6] ERROR: Failed to convert string from UTF-8
to 1 - probably broken type names.

2009-10-05 15:11:43 [13883] [6] ERROR: Failed to convert msgdata from
charset UTF-8 to 1, will send as is.

Issue #3

I configured sqlbox and there were no errors however, when a new message
comes in sqlbox automatically terminates
and closes down. Needless to say it doesn't send any messages that I insert
in its send_sms table. I am not sure if
this is the right place to discuss this though. Attached with this email you
will also find the smsbox log and the config
file.

Issue #4

Last but not the least suddenly I started getting an error in the response
to submit_sm from my SMSC

2009-10-05 15:11:43 [13883] [6] ERROR: SMPP[smsc1]: SMSC returned error code
0x042a (Vendor-specific error, please refer to your SMPP provider) in
response to submit_sm.

You will see this also in the logs. All messages come in properly though.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to help with this.

Thanks

Karan

RE: destination_addr_ton=3 SUBMIT_SM PDU

2009-09-30 Thread Karan Zaveri
Yes that’s a variable you can set in your SMSC group. Look at the user guide .I
believe the variable is
 dest-addr-ton similarly there is a source-addr-ton but I believe you wont need
it. you might also need
to configure the dest-addr-npi according to your SMPP provider’s requirements.
Look at the SMSC section
for more variables that might be needed..

Hi Guys,

I think I found the piece of code that is responsible for creating this URL
data. It's in the gw/urltrans.c file
line 495

case 'o': /* account information (may be operator id for aggregators */

if (octstr_len(request-sms.account)) {

enc = octstr_duplicate(request-sms.account);

octstr_url_encode(enc);

octstr_append(result, enc);

octstr_destroy(enc);

}

break;

Clearly it is returning the account id I just need to find out where is the
sms object initiated

Using the meta-data functionality. You need to configure the TLV's and
they'll be available as meta-data.

You need to use latest CVS, though. 1.4.3 won't cut it.

As Alejandro already said, you need to use TLVs, and for that you
should use the latest CVS version and not 1.4.3

This is probably not the latest mBlox SMPP specs, it's from 2007, but
I guess this part has not changed.
According to
http://data.getafreelancer.com/project/283852/mBlox%20SMPP%20Interface%20Tec
hnical%20Manual_v2.3.pdf

the operator ID comes on the mblox_operator optional parameter (TLV).
On page 23 of that document you got it's description, but you better
check the latest mBlox specs just in case.

So, first of all download latest CVS snapshot, and read the SMPP
optional parameters configuration section.
Then check the latest mBlox SMPP specs, and configure all the needed
optional parameters accordingly.

Regards,

Juan

Hi Nikos,

That's fine np. The Carrier ID is sent out by the aggregator because I was
able to get that using
another script however, Kannel doesn't seem to recognize it for some reason.
I am afraid with the
US carriers it wont work the way you described as the numbers keep on
changing often.

Sorry,

I didn't understand what you were asking for. The sender's mobile carrier,
is known only to the (sender's) smsc and doesn't reach kannel. However, you
can deduce the carrier from your local prefix numbering scheme. I.e. in
Greece all 977 mobiles are Cosmote, 979 Vodaphone, etc. (example not
necessarily correct).

You're using an aggregator right? Maybe they use a TLV to send you the
carrier id? Check the documentation or ask your SMSC provider about it.

RE: Incorrect Operator ID returned

2009-09-27 Thread Karan Zaveri
Hi Guys,

I think I found the piece of code that is responsible for creating this URL
data. It's in the gw/urltrans.c file
line 495

case 'o': /* account information (may be operator id for aggregators */

if (octstr_len(request-sms.account)) {

enc = octstr_duplicate(request-sms.account);

octstr_url_encode(enc);

octstr_append(result, enc);

octstr_destroy(enc);

}

break;

Clearly it is returning the account id I just need to find out where is the
sms object initiated and if there
was a way to access the other variables available with it. Please let me
know if you are aware of it.

Thanks

Karan

Thanks Nikos,

I tried that but it didn't work. What I really need is the message sender's
Operator's ID which is a number
identifying who the operator is like Sprint = 31005, Cingular = 31002 etc.
The %o returns the system-type
variable from the config file and the %i returns the SMPP hostname which is
not what I am looking for.

I am not sure if this is a bug in Kannel or some other setting that I need
to do.
