Re: Downloaded - Confused...

2023-05-29 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
If you downloaded the Windows version, I think there is only supposed to be
one file (exe). Install exactly like you install everything else.
If you got a lot of files, it seems like you downloaded a Linux version,
which you only should do if you are using Linux, of course.
You don't need an account.
>From where did you download Apache OpenOffice? You should download it from
http://www.openoffice.org/download only.

I haven't used Apache OpenOffice for a very long time, but I guess someone
will correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know, I didn't use Apache OpenOffice for a while, since it crashed
at startup, and I didn't have the energy to send a bug report at the time,
so I just continued using LibreOffice instead.

Ah, that old problem that I had in Word many years ago, which made me
switch to OpenOffice.org in the first place! I still use Word at work and I
still have big issues with images. I change something and suddenly all the
pictures are all over the place. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, so I
guess that Word is just not for me.

Modern documents are image heavy.

Mine aren't, but I guess you're right.

I have a lot of them, but I'm really more a spreadsheet kind of guy, so I
rarely write text documents at all.

From your document maybe, not from mine. I actually searched for odt files
a minute ago and I found one that I made in 2007, 29 pages with a lot of
images in it (which, as I said, is very rare for me, but rare doesn't mean
it never happens). As far as I can see, all images are still there and they
are still aligned exactly as I remember them.

Not saying that I don't believe you, but maybe you just have a workflow
better suitable for whatever you prefer to use instead of Apache OpenOffice
Writer?

As I said, I don't have Apache OpenOffice anymore, but I tested this now in
LibreOffice. I inserted an image, then changed its link to something
non-existant, and now, in the place holder, the whole path can be seen. Is
this not true for Apache OpenOffice?

Well, when I finish a document, at least if it's important, I always export
it to PDF. Especially if I'm going to send it to people. That takes care of
many problems, such as the receiver doesn't use the same software etc.
Sometimes I get Word documents in my email (at work), and that annoys me a
lot. If I'm not supposed to make changes in the document, send it as PDF,
that's my opinion about that… 

And to me it's astonishing that people want to use Word, and that's for
approximately the same reasons. So you had problems with Writer, I had
problems with Word. We are different people with different workflows, so
maybe it's not that astonishing after all.

Maybe a few developers read this list too, I don't know, but if you really
want someone to dig into your problem it's probably better to file a bug
report, if you are sure that you ran into a bug. Doing so you will need to
provide much more information than you did here, though. Everything you can
think of. What did you do when it crashed? What crashed (writer, calc
etc.)? What version do you use? What is your operating system? What
version of your operating system? What hat did you wear when Apache
OpenOffice crashed? Anything you can think of. Too much information is
better than too little. Ok, maybe you shouldn't mention your hat, but you
know what I mean.

> your program crashes constantly, needless to say all written information

What happens when you try to restore it? And how do you do that?

Please is this now a permanent feature?
>
Yes, it's permanent. Some developer thought it was a good idea to let the
application crash now and then, so he built in the randomCrash() method,
which seems to work very well.

No, just kidding. If your application crashes often, then something is
obviously wrong. Either your system itself, the application or some setting
somewhere.

One thing to try is to reset your Apache OpenOffice user profile. Just give
the folder a different name and restart Apache OpenOffice, and it will
create a new, fresh one for you. If that works, that is if Apache
OpenOffice no longer crashes, then you know that something in your old user
profile caused the crashes. If crashes still occur, something else is
wrong, and you could probably start using your old profile again, if it
contains something useful for you.

Since you didn't mention your operating system, I can't tell you where your
profile folder is, but on my system it's at ~/.openoffice/4/ and it's
called ”user”. Just rename it to something else, like user_old, restart
Apache OpenOffice and now you have both user and user_old but only user is
used.

In your user_old you'll find things like your global macros,
configurations, templates, extensions and more. If there is something that
you really need, just copy it over to the new user profile.

As I have lost again today 2.5 hours work I'm not a very happy person
> please if you reply no political correctness just the simple facts.
>

Then I'll suggest that you turn your automatic save on, Set it to a few
minutes or so. Another option is of course to manually save every time you
added something worth saving. That's very easy: Just press Ctrl+s. No need
to even move your hand from the keyboard to the mouse to do such a basic
thing.

Other fixes are maybe not Apache OpenOffice-related in the same way, such

You are writing to a list of other users, of which most of us are unable to
do anything like that. I'll suggest you to file an enhancement request or a
bug report at their bug reporting site.
have a look here:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ/ProjectLevel/BugzillaQuestions/How_do_I_report_a_bug%3F

I couldn't test your problem myself, since Apache OpenOffice refused to
open at all (SIGABRT), so I just uninstalled it and that problem
disappeared… I'm not sure what happened, because I think it worked a while
ago. Never mind.
Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but just for fun I
experimented a bit with a rectangle in LibreOffice Writer, and I couldn't
fins any problems with it. Creating a gradient was easy and I could move it
around with expected results and, depending on the anchor setting, it
stayed where it was supposed to stay. I'm not sure I'm testing the right
things here, or exactly what went wrong for you, but at least the word
processor of LibreOffice seems to work as expected. Unfortunately I
couldn't test the same thing with Apache OpenOffice Writer, for the reasons
I mentioned above. Maybe Apache OpenOffice Writer just isn't the best tool
for what you do.

Anyway, as mentioned above, if it doesn't work properly in Apache
OpenOffice Writer, filing a bug report should be the next step. I didn't
use Apache OpenOffice regularly for a long time, but historically I have
had good experience filing Apache OpenOffice bug reports. I think most of
them actually got fixed, some of them rather quickly. I don't know if this
is true today, but maybe it's worth a try?

After some more experimenting I found this way, that differs from the other
method in the following ways:

   - No need for using cell formatting
   - The cell content is a string rather than a number

And the cell formula looks like this:
=TEXT(VALUE(BASE(42;2));""" """)

Of course you should replace ”42” with a cell reference or a formula in
most cases, like this:
=TEXT(VALUE(BASE(A1;2));""" """)

Sorry for stating the obvious… 

Have a nice day you too.

And maybe I should answer the question I think you meant to ask too: ”How?”

Here's one way. I don't have Apache OpenOffice so I can't test it, but I
tested it with LibreOffice and I think it would work in Apache OpenOffice
too:
=VALUE(BASE(42;2))
Now format the cell like the following:
Right click the cell → click Format cells…
Select the Number tab.
In the field ”Format description”, enter the following:
" "
Hit OK.

Note that if omitting the quotes, typing in that field will fail,
(the cell will display 00 101 010). I'm not sure why though.
As I said, I tested this in LibreOffice, hopefully it will work in Apache
OpenOffice too.

I don't have a Mac and it was a long time since I had Apache OpenOffice,

if not, maybe you can change the line that starts the application? On my

libreoffice --calc %U
I' don't remember what command starts Apache OpenOffice, maybe it's still

And who are you referring to when you say ”you”? There is no Apache
OpenOffice support. This list is just users helping other users. I'm one of
those users (I'm actually an ex user, but that's hopefully not very
important) and some times I ask questions and some times I answer

You can? That's great. Doesn't the mean that the problem is solved? I just
wonder how you could find it in the ods file. Shouldn't you rather look in
the Apache OpenOffice Calc application?

Lucky guy. I have both on my job computer and I hate both.

I miss that function.

You said you could find it (in your ods file), or did you mean something

Okay, jokes aside, can you please better describe what that ”function”
actually did? I don't really understand what ”add certain lines to a total”
means. Certain lines? To a total? How? Can you give a simple example? What
is the function called in Excel?

I'm sure that if the function doesn't exist in Calc, it's possible to make
one with a macro, but I can't tell how complicated that would be unless I
have more information.

What kind of document (ods, odt, odg, what?)
In what way is it ”fucked up”? Are some characters wrong or does it all

Did you save your document before you closed when you saw that your

Have you tried to open an older version of your document from your daily

You are not supposed to be able to, that's the point in having passwords in

What instructions? Who told you that?

Yes, exactly. That's the point in having passwords. You are not supposed to
be able to open a password protected document without the password. That's
what password protection is for.

You can do that only if you know the password. It's called security.

I think there are software out there that can do it, but unless your
passwords is really stupid, it will take quite a while. Maybe days, maybe
even years. It depends on a lot of things, I guess. I think there was a
discussion about this a couple of years ago, maybe you could search the
archives for that thread. Or maybe that was discussed in the LibreOffice
mailing list, I don't remember.

Pictures and most other files usually don't get through when sending email
to this list, so we can't see them. You can either upload it somewhere and
give us a link or just give us the necessary information here:
What does the formula look like?
What are the values in all cells referred to in the formula?
What value do you expect from the formula?
What value did you actually get from the formula?

Oh, and I hope you didn't buy this product, since it's free (in more than

If you actually paid for it, you might have paid for some kind of support.

If you want compatibility with Publisher there's a simple rule and I think

”Only publisher can open publisher files”
So the hint is to never start using Publisher in the first place, because
you'll be stuck with it.

No, but I've seen some different versions that are included in some
GNU/Linux-distribution's repositories when you can choose only what you
want. However, there's not much to gain. Most of the individual parts of
the suite use code from each other, so if you only install, let's say
Writer, the size of your installation will still be almost the same as when
installing everything.
I would install the whole suite and then remove unneeded icons from user
interface (if possible – it depends on the operating system).

Apache OpenOffice is free and no codes are needed to download nor install
it, so if you paid for it you certainly didn't pay to Apache, unless you
donated money to them, which I guess is possible to do.
If you want a refund, you have to contact those whom you paid. Emailing
this mailing list about that is probably only a waste of time, since the
most people in this list are users who try to help each other out.

You should always download Apache OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org/
.
I'm not sure why you shouldn't be able to use Apache OpenOffice on your
computer, though. Maybe your computer is 32-bit and you downloaded the
64-bit version of Apache OpenOffice?

Not everything, unless you forgot to do your daily backup, of course. But
who forgets that? Nobody, I hope. Those who easily forget things probably
set up a schedule for backup anyway, like a Cron job or something similar.

So just recover your important document from your latest backup. If you

Is it important that you can do this in Apache OpenOffice? There are other

As always, if there are no backups, there's probably nothing you or anyone
else can do about it, more than learning the lesson and start making daily
incremental backups from now on. Drives are cheap these days, and
reasonably fast too, so there's really no excuse for not doing backups.
Additional backups to some reasonably safe cloud service could be a good
complement too, in some cases.

This is probably an Ubuntu question rather than an Apache OpenOffice

You found us, but we are not the ones you should be looking for. Your
question is about your operating system, and you didn't even mention which

You could also have avoided the problem, I think, by checking a checkbox at
installation time for making Apache OpenOffice your default office
application for certain file types, but it seems like you failed to do that.

Room has not much to do with it. If the cell is formatted to show 1
decimal, it rounds the value to 1 decimal.

Since I don't know exactly what you did and I don't have a clue about your
spreadsheet skills, I can only guess what you're doing wrong, so I'll just
say this:
What you see in a cell is a combination of what's actually in there and how
you format the cell. In your tool boxes there are tools for common formats,
such as currency, percent, date and number of decimals. You can control the
cell format in greater detail by right clicking a cell or cell range and
select ”Format cells”. If you do that and select the Number tab, there are
a lot of things to select from. You can even do your own number format by
selecting ”user defined” in the Category box and then enter your own format
in the format description field. If your cell contains the number
1234.56789 and your cell format is # ##0.0" km", then the cell will
display: 1 234.6 km.
The built in help describes this well, so take a look if you want.

If you just want to do Pascal's triangle in a spreadsheet you need the +
operator, but since that's too abvious I guess you are asking for something
completely different. What is that?

Anyway, here's one way to illustrate the triangle in Apache OpenOffice Calc:
Enter 1 in a few cells in row 1, for instance in A1 thorough P1.
Do the same thing from A1 through A16.
In B2, enter:
=A2+B1
Fill to the right until O2.
Highlight B2 through N2.
Fill downwards until row 15.
Clear the cells C15, D14:D15, E13:E15 and so on, until it looks like a
triangle.
Now the ”floor” of the triangle looks like this:
1 15 105 455 1365 3003 5005 6435 6435 5005 3003 1362 455 105 15 1.

But this is probably not what you were asking for at all, so if you could
explain a little more what you are looking for, it would be nice.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Who is looking over the fence? The
OP? Maybe he switched from Excel to OpenOffice Calc and now he can't do
something that he could do in Excel, so he writes here to find out how to
do it. He could be referring to Excel just as an easy way to explain what
he's talking about. I don't consider that ”looking over the fence”. But I'm
just guessing here.

But I agree that it's not necessarily a good idea to only ”look over the
fence”. Just because it's done in one way in Excel doesn't mean that it's
the best way to do it.

Re: hello

2017-08-17 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
Is there a special reason why you want to open it with Apache OpenOffice?
You can't just open it with your PDF reader?

If you want to edit it, since you obviously created the file in the first
place, maybe with Apache OpenOffice, I suggest that you open the original
file (ODT or whatever format you usually use), edit it, save it and export
it as a new PDF.

If you didn't keep the original file, remember to do that with documents
you create in the future to avoid this problem. Today's disk drives are so
big that you could store millions of text documents on them, so don't erase
documents just to save space.

And as always, do backups every day. I know, that's another issue, but it
can't be pointed out enough…

I think someone built an add-on for this many years ago, but I'm not sure
if it still works. Or maybe it was made for LibreOffice, I don't remember.

Apache OpenOffice is built around styles, kind of. This has its obvious
advantages, especially when you want consistent documents and it's very
easy to make huge changes very quickly, for instance in a few clicks change
the font size for all headers in hundreds of pages at once. I use styles
all the time and I never needed ”reveal codes” and I'm pretty sure I'll
never need them.

Anyway, if that add-on can't be found or if it doesn't work with newer
versions of Apache OpenOffice, and if you don't want to adapt to styles,
then I would say that Apache OpenOffice is not for you. Pick something
else. This discussion has been up quite a few times and it seems obvious to
me that this feature will never ever be implemented in Apache OpenOffice,
nor in LibreOffice. At least that's what I think.

Most things related to Basic (the programming language) will work in Excel
too, but as soon as you want to do spreadsheet related things, it won't
work at all, unless you simulate all that UNO stuff by writing your own

If Apache OpenOffice supported VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), then

Forgot to ask… did you install that ”Mac cleaner” before or after this

Looks like a hardware issue, I have never seen anything like this in Apache
OpenOffice.
What happens if you open the same file with LibreOffice?

Choose the ”still” version, 5.2.6.

Re: Multiplying Time by Numbers

2017-03-19 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
When you enter time in a cell, enter it like hh:mm:ss (separator depends on
your language settings).
Examples:
0:0:9 → 00:00:09
0:9 → 00:09:00
9:0 → 09:00:00
1:13:3 → 01:13:03
12:4:56 → 12:04:56

the cell will format to hh:mm:ss automatically. Of course you can change
this. I guess h:mm would be what you're looking for. In that case, the
avove examples will display as:
0:00
0:09
9:00
1:13
12:04 (for some reason the result is not rounded up to 12:05, maybe that's
a bug, or maybe it's expected behaviour)

What's really in the cell is a floating point number less than 1. 1 means
24 hours, so 0.5 is 12:00:00, 0.75 is 18:00:00 and so on. To get it in
hours, just multiply with 24. Then you get something that you can multiply
directly with anything, such as your currency.

Here's an example
A1 → type 1:30
B1 → type 40 → format as currency
C1 → type =A1*24*B1 → formatting as currency will happen automatically.
Result: £60.

Simple as that…

That's true. Since I started using OpenOffice.org (1.0.3 I think) I
switched to LibreOffice when it was first released. Then it destroyed my
most important spreadsheet so bad that only Apache OpenOffice was able to
recover it, so I switched back to Apache OpenOffice. Unfortunately there
was too many bugs that made some of my spreadsheets almost impossible to
use, so once again I switched to LibreOffice which has a quite different
approach to Apache OpenOffice. Instead of keeping their old bugs forever
they introduce new interesting ones with every release. So I would say that
neither Apache OpenOffice nor LibreOffice work properly, at least not with
spreadsheets.

As some kind of reference I can mention that I use Excel at work (I can't
even install it at home since there doesn't seem to be a Linux version for
some reason), and even if I only used it for like a year now (Excel 2013),
I already found quite a lot of quite interesting bugs, forcing me into a
lot of workarounds all the time. And I also find the user interface quite
unusable. I seem to never being able to figure out where to find stuff, so
I often need to search the web for really simple things. On the positive
side I can mention the macro recorder which almost works now and then.
Sometimes I need to remove some lines to make the macro work when I
otherwise get an error message telling be that a command doesn't exist…
very funny indeed. A macro recorder that creates commands that doesn't
exist – hilarious…

This has been discussed many times and the answer seems to be the same
every time. Even if you could download Writer only, its size would still be
maybe 90% of the size of the whole suite.

I heard that AbiWord stepped up a bit with their latest release, I don't
know since I don't use it myself, but maybe that is worth trying? A lot
less to download than Apache OpenOffice…

Well, 56 ton requires a really big forklift truck. Maybe too expensive for
most users?
Or maybe the comma is a decimal separator, just like it is in about half of
all the countries in the world, making it 56 kg and not a gram more or
less. Then only a friend is needed. Together they can lift it without
destroying their backs, I think.

You can enter whatever you want in that box, even decimal values. The
lowest number appears to be 2, because if you enter anything lower it will
be changed to 2.
I did a quick test by typing HHH and let each H be different sizes
from 3.0 to 4.0. When checking their sizes afterwards, some are changed, so
they are instead 3.0, 3.0, 3.2, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.5, 3.7, 3.7, 3.9, 4.0

Entering 5 % just gets the %-character removed.
Zooming to 600 %, even size 2 pt can easily be read.

I tried this with the following fonts:
Arial
Deja vu sans
Free Sans
Liberation Sans
Times New Roman
Ubuntu

Ok, you obviously mean kB or KiB. The difference is not very big, but I
guess kB, so we are talking about 56 MB here, which is exactly 56·10⁶ B.
Then I'm also assuming your comma character is a thousands separator and
not a decimal separator – even though that's not the case in about half of
all the countries in the world, mine included.

Yes, that's indeed a very big file. Way too big to attach anywhere, I
think. Files attached to this mailing list are usually stripped off, no
matter what size they are, so if you want someone to have a look at them,
you need to upload them somewhere and provide a link to them.

If you can't open a file just because there's a file in the same folder
with its name ending with ”.lock”, just remove that file and try again.
That file is there to prevent someone else to open the file in edit mode
when it's already opened by someone else. If Apache OpenOffice crash during
editing, the lock file is probably not removed automatically, therefore you
need to remove it manually.

However, you should be able to open the USB version, since there is
probably no lock file on it…

Just edit the font size of the style associated with that section of text.
If no style is associated with only that section of text, create a new one
and associate it with that text.

Spreadsheet files don't recognise anything, they are just files. Apache
OpenOffice however, recognise certain file types, Excel files are among
those. Also your operating system recognise them, if you set it up
properly. I don't know how to do that in your operating system since I
don't know which one you have, but I'm sure it's very easy.

together.

And, just like the correct example above, no space before the exclamation

Some people have Viola as their first name, by the way.

Depends on why you can't modify them and what operating system you are
running. If those files belongs to a different user (root, for instance),
then you probably wouldn't be able to open them at all, unless you have
group read rights. If, for some reason, your files doesn't have any write
rights, the same problem will occur. This is easily fixed for all your
files with a one-liner in Bash, if you are on Linux or similar, using a
combination of find and chmod. For instance by looking for all files in a
certain directory (and sub directories) named (using regular expressions)
”.*\.od[st]”, and change their permissions with chmod +w.

And don't forget to do the same on your backup to AFTER you made sure your
one-liner actually works…

Yes, Always was ticked in my case, but it was ignored. I selected Never and
I got rid of the dialogue, however with links not updated… at least better

But why is ”Always” ignored? Wouldn't it be better to let ”On demand” be

Default behaviour with links to other documents

2016-04-14 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
I have a few spreadsheet documents that contain one or more links to other
documents. Every time I open them I get the very annoying question about
whether I want the links to be updated or not.

Is there a way I can set a default behaviour for that? I mean the current
behaviour seems to be ”ask the user”, and I want it do be either ”yes” or
”no”, just so I don't need to get annoyed by that irritating dialogue every
time I open such a document (which I do daily).

And if I select ”yes” or ”no” as default behaviour, I don't want to see any
dialogue windows about it at all from there on. No ”Your links were updated
successfully”, nor ”Your links were not updated”.

Kind regards

I think this only happens in Windows. Most other operating systems don't
care much for the extension. I just tried this in a non-windows
environment. I copied an ods file and put the copy in the same folder as
the original, but without the .ods extension. Both files had the same icon
and both files opened without any questions with Apache OpenOffice. A few
years back I did a similar experiment. I don't remember exactly what I did,
but either I changed the extension of an mp3 file to .jpeg or maybe I did
the other way around. Still the right program opened the file. As far as I
know, ONLY Windows gets confused when the file extension is wrong or not
there at all. I don't know about Mac though, since I never had one.

Anyway, this aside, I agree that this could be the problem for the OP,
since the OP actually said he was using Windows.

As far as I know, it shouldn't, but it does for me too. Opening Apache
OpenOffice Calc takes approximately 10-15 s (!) on my system: 16 GB RAM,
Intel i7, Ubuntu 14.04.

On my system, Apache OpenOffice almost always crash when I do something
with the styles window open.

What disappeared? Only the text or the whole window? Or something else?

I assume you are running Apache OpenOffice Writer, as you say ”word
program”, which perhaps refers to MS Office Word. Writer is however not an
MS Word clone or anything like that.
It's also not ”our” program. I'm just a user like you, so this list is just
people using Apache OpenOffice, helping each other out; it's not like
professional support or something.
Just saying, in case you don't know.

Your operating system is supposed to take care of that, not Apache
OpenOffice, so ask on a forum for your operating system. Seems to be some
flavour of Windows, so I can't answer it, otherwise I would.

However, when you ran Apache OpenOffice for the first time, I think you
should have been asked if you want Apache OpenOffice to be your default
program for your documents. That could have solved your problem, I guess.
Or maybe not.

What kinds of documents are you trying to open? Maybe Apache OpenOffice
just can't handle them? Suffixes like .ods, .odt, .doc, .xls and so on
should be no problems, but maybe you are trying to open other kinds of
documents?

Crash when trying to create a new style

2016-01-03 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 installed with the DEB files downloaded from
http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html. I installed it a few days
ago, so it should be the latest version.
Operating system: Ubuntu 14.04

How to make it crash:
1. Start your operating system.
2. Rename ”~/.openoffice/4/user” to ”~/.openoffice/4/user.old” (or don't,
in my case it didn't matter at all)
3. Open Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 (4.1.1 will also do, I had the same problem
with it)
4. Select Apache OpenOffice Calc (I don't know if Writer has the same
problem, I almost never run anything else than Calc)
5. Hit F11 to open the stylist.
6. Right click a paragraph style, select New.
7. Apache OpenOffice crash.
8. Undo step 2 if you like.

Am I the only one with this problem? If so, where do I start looking for
what's causing this problem?

Yes, I did, and then I installed LibreOffice with their DEBS. I tested the
same thing in LibreOffice 4.2.6.3 (I installed it a long time ago…),
without a crash. However, when working with a particular document, which
was converted from an XLS file, containing some MS fonts like Arial Narrow
that my current system lacks, I can't edit existing styles. If I right
click one and select Edit, nothing happens (in neither Apache OpenOffice
nor LibreOffice). If I create a new spreadsheet, I can edit styles. Maybe
something wrong with some of my files then…

I'll install the latest stable LibreOffice and see what happens.

Still, the original problem happens after a fresh start of the operating
system and Apache OpenOffice with a ”new file”, so everything doesn't seem
to be my file's fault…

I also find that useful. I use it all the time – with Apache OpenOffice
4.1.1. It's located at the left side of the zoom bar, I think it's the same
position as in 3.4.1, so I'm not sure you didn't seem to have it. Also, if

Apache OpenOffice is probably not designed to do such tasks, but there are
other applications out there that are. If using the command line isn't a
problem, there is tiff2pdf.
Install it easily on the following operating systems as root.

Debian or Ubuntu:
apt-get install ghostscript libtiff-tools

CentOs or Red Hat:
yum install ghostscript libtiff

Fedora:
yum install ghostscript libtiff-tools

Convert input.tiff to output.pdf:
tiff2pdf -o output.pdf input.tiff

More information:
man tiff2pdf

Ok, thanks. Maybe something else that causes this, then. I'm going to
install another operating system soon, maybe that will solve the problem.

Also, Apache OpenOffice crash when I remove a style, does that too only
happen to me? Again, using 4.1.1.

Loading a dialogue

2015-12-06 Thread Johnny Rosenberg
Is it only me or does Apache OpenOffice always crash when trying to import
a dialogue from a .dlg file (which was created by Apache OpenOffice)?

Apache OpenOffice crash when I try that, every time. Does that happen to
you too? If so, I might just report it…

I have Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 (since I can't install anything on my
computer at the moment, due to some depency troubles which I won't fix
since I'm going to install another operating system soon anyway), so I
would like to know if this problem also exists in 4.1.2.
