Dear Didi, Thank you for your reply. My glusterfs uses the host's internal disks. I have 4 hosts, but the glusterfs use only 3. It is a centos7 based system. As I think, I have to elminate the glusterfs first, because I can't upgrade the hosts until the engine running on there. That's why I think the engine will access to them after the reinstall. The "canonical" way is: 1. On current engine machine: engine-backup --file=f1 2. (Re)Install a new host (with 4.4?), copy there f1, and: hosted-engine --deploy --restore-from-file=f1 This only handles your engine VM, not others. The new engine (with its hosted_storage on the new iscsi storage) will need access to the existing gluster storage holding the other VMs, if you plan to somehow import/migrate/whatever them. At this moment, we don't use QoS for dedicate bandwidth. What can I do ? [ovirt-users] Upgrade host to 4.2 - 10gbe connection does not work anymore
Hi All, I did successfully upgraded my 4.1 hosted engine and the first node to 4.2.3. Since upgrade, the node's 10Gbe connection does not work. It was the connection between host and storage. That is why, now I can't activate my node. I have IP and I have all of bonding, and it seems to fine. All other networks and bonds (1gbe) is working fine, I can communicate with other hosts. I had a mode-1 (active/passive) bonding on that interfaces. I can ping from other nodes, but not from this. Also, I did a full OS upgrade (yum update) on node. Somebody could me help? [ovirt-users] Cluster compatibility 4.1 to 4.2 upgrade
Dear Listmember, I've just upgrade to my ovirt-hosted-engine from 4.1 to 4.2.3. It was successful, but it saw " Data Center XYZ compatibility version is 4.1, which is lower than latest engine version 4.2. Please upgrade your Data Center to latest version to successfully finish upgrade of your setup." My first question is that, it need to do BEFORE or AFTER the node upgrades? I haven't upgrade my nodes yet, because after upgrade the live migration does not work with some VMs. It seems only affected those VMs that's have big (>8GB ) memory. It counting to 99 percent and after a while just stopped. At this moment I can't stop my affected, productive VMs, so I can't do the upgrade of nodes. I just wondering, if i do the upgrade to 4.2 , that's maybe repair my the live migration function? What can I do? Centos 7.4, NFS storage, 4 nodes, Hyperconverged hosted engine. Dear Luca, I've created a config with two 16 port 10GBe switches, those does not connected to each other. I have 4 hosts and 1 storage host. Re: [ovirt-users] Snapshot or not?
Hi, Thank you for your reply. So. I have a disk with snapshot. Or - really - I just think that is a snapshot. It was attached originally to a VM (with other two disks, that is not have snapshot) I did a detach-attach-storage procedure, but after attach, - I don't know why - ovirt could not import the VM and disks from this (ovirt said it is not possible). After this I just wondered, I will make a new VM with same disk and I will copy the images (really just rename) from original to recreated. It was partial success because the VM can boot, but the disk, where there is a snapshot I can't read the LVM table. I see just it seems to corrupt. Now this disk in a very interested state: I can see the snapshot datas from the vm as raw disk. I think Ovirt don't know that is a snapshotted image and attach to VM as raw disk. So my really question, how can I add this disk image as good to ovirt? Please help me, it is very important me.:( Thanks in advance, Have a nice day, Tibor - 2017. nov.. 16., 11:55, Ala Hino <ah...@redhat.com> írta: > Hi Tibor, > I am not sure I completely understand the scenario. > You have a VM with two disks and then you create a snapshot including the two > disks? > Before creating the snapshot, did the VM recognize the two disks? > On Mon, Nov 13, 2017 at 10:36 PM, Demeter Tibor < [ > mailto:tdeme...@itsmart.hu | > tdeme...@itsmart.hu ] > wrote: >> Dear Users, >> I have a disk of a vm, that is have a snapshot. [ovirt-users] Snapshot or not?
Dear Users, I have a disk of a vm, that is have a snapshot. It is very interesting, because there are two other disk of that VM, but there are no snapshots of them. I found this while I've try to migrate a storage-domain between two datacenter. Because, I didn't import that vm from the storage domain, I did an another similar VM with exactly same sized thin-provisioned disks. I have renamed, copied to here my originals. The VM started successfully, but the disk that contain a snapshot did not recognized by the os. I can see the whole disk as raw. (disk id, format in ovirt, filenames of images, etc) . I think ovirt don't know that is a snapshotted image and use as raw. Is it possible? I don't see any snapshot in snapshots. Dear Charles, Thank you for your reply. I don't want to make an another storage domain, I just want to do a detach-attach procedure with the existing. Also, I have an another question. Is it possible delete snapshots in 4.1 what were created in 3.5? How is safe this? I have some vm snapshot in the old system, but I don't want more outage with deleting them. The 3.5 does not support the live snapshot deleting, but the 4.1 yes. [ovirt-users] Hosted engine setup question
Hi, I just installed a hosted engine based four nodes cluster to glustered storage. It seems to working fine, but I have some question about it. - I would like to make an own cluster and datacenter. Is it possible to remove a host and re-add to an another cluster while it is running the hosted engine? - Is it possible to remove default datacenter without any problems? - I have a productive ovirt cluter that is based on 3.5 series. It is using a shared nfs storage. Is it possible to migrate VMs from 3.5 to 4.1 with detach shared storage from the old cluster and attach it to the new cluster? - If yes what will happend with the VM properies? For example mac addresses, limits, etc. Those will be migrated or not? Thanks in advance, Regard Tibor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirt 3.5.5 to 4.x
Hi, Thank you for your reply. I have a short plan for the migration, but I have some question about it. Please correct me if something wrong. - I will install ovirt nodes to the new machines. - I would like to use same storage, so i will make an new NFS export for the new ovirt-engine. - I will make hosted engine setup that will placed on the new nfs share. - I want to come some new features , like vlans and new IP range for engine, management, etc, so I will make these settings on the new setup - This is the point where I will stop the whole old system. I have to stop VM-s, disconnect storge from old cluster and I will attach to the new cluster. - This is the point, where I'm not sure in all things. If I had attach to the new cluster, the VM-s will show on the new ovirt-engine? What about the settings for example, memory, cpu, etc? It will be came from storage? Or I have to recreate these settings on every VM-s? - Need I'm doing other things, or it will be enought to start vms in the new cluster? Thanks in advance. So: - hdparm test on local storage ~ 400 mb/sec - hdparm test on ovirt node server through attached iscsi device ~ 400 Mb/sec - hdparm test from inside vm on local virtual disk - 93-102 Mb /sec The question is : Why? ps. Hi, Thank you, that's worked! Bye Tibor - Eredeti üzenet - Hi, An ldappasswd command would change it without setting as expired. It will prompt twice for the account password you'll set, and the password for the directory manager once: $ ldappasswd -ZZ -D 'cn=directory manager' -W -S uid=USERNAME,cn=users,cn=accounts,dc=example,dc=org -H ldap:// ipaserver.example.org You'll need to set the username (USERNAME) domain ( example.org ) and server FQDN accordingly. [ovirt-users] IPA-auth: user password expired
Hi, I have an IPA server 3.0 on centos 6.6. I successfully attached to my ovirt cluster. I can see the users on ovirt user tab, but after auth I always get this error: Cannot Login. Re: [ovirt-users] separate ovirtmgmt from glusterfs traffic
Hi, Is this feature will be available on an existing domain or on a live system ? (after upgrade) I would be very grateful if it will available on 3.5.x versions:) In this case your team will be guest for a lot of chocklet/beer from me:) Have a nice day, Tibor - Eredeti üzenet - We will try and address this in the next release of oVirt - there were some issues earlier with identifying the bricks correctly, but with the gluster host uuid support in gluster xml commands, we can fix this. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1049994 - marked for 3.6.0 On 11/19/2014 01:30 AM, Demeter Tibor wrote: Hi, I think is a really good question, why does not possible sepereate storage network traffic like display, etc? Re: [ovirt-users] separate ovirtmgmt from glusterfs traffic
Hello, Thank you for the detailed reply. Yes, the vms are used an independent network/network interfaces for access the internet. So, in this case I could separate the high glusterfs traffic from ovirt management traffic when I disable vm network on ovirtmgmt interface. I will try-out this night this feature. Thanks a lot, Tibor - Eredeti üzenet - Hi Tibor, On 13/11/14 13:41, Demeter Tibor wrote: Hi, I have a 3 node gluster based cluster. There are 3x3 Nic with bonding. This generally sounds like a good plan, but note that QoS on the host-level will only become available in oVirt 3.6 (it might become available soon on master, if you're feeling lucky...). VM-level QoS (available since 3.3) won't help you with administrative traffic (i.e. traffic that isn't going into / coming out of the VMs themselves). I'm not knowledgeable about gluster specifics, but let's see if I can help. What's the current situation with the gluster network, is it already VLAN-tagged?
