 Ok, so after a year of getting our user base ready to switch from
 Seamonkey web/email clients to strictly SOGo web interface we hit a
 snag. My supervisor is having a fit over the HTML/text issues with
 the web interface of SOGo. So this is leading me to have to look into
 the integrator and such for thunderbird. Here are a few questions:

 Can you explain the issues with HTML/text a little more? Maybe
 someone has some ideas that can bring you back around to the web
 interface. (Sorry if I missed an earlier thread.)

 Basically my supervisor is upset that we will be delivering less
 functionality than currently being used. In a typical email client you
 compose a message and it is truly WYSIWYG, either text, HTML (colors and
 such), or both. In the SOGo web interface if you choose text as the
 compose message option you obviously lose the option of colors, fonts,
 etc because it is just that... text. However the formatting is spot on.
 If one chooses HTML it opens up the ability to change colors, font, etc
 but appears double spaced when it actually is not. Also with the
 javascript HTML editor without a firefox plugin to allow javascript
 access to the clipboard you cannot right click and copy/cut/paste with
 the mouse. I did find the workaround on that with the plugin though,
 alas we have some end users that refuse to use anything but IE and I
 have yet to have found a work around for that as of yet.
Isn't this a question of a) tuning and fixing the WYSIWYG javscript
editor in SOGo? and b) changing SOGo so that when you send an HTML email
you also send a txt version of the same email?

Tarjei

 So what they want is a fat client email client that will do it all
 similar to outlook. I, on the other hand as the administrator, want it
 to not affect the size of their roaming profiles by keeping a local copy
 of mail on their machines that is written with the profile upon
 login/logout. Either way the web interface will be used for remote viewing.

 Is there a way to have thunderbird be a TRUE IMAP client and not keep
 a local copy of the messages on the local machine? I know about the
 keep a local copy of messages checkbox but that does not seem to do
 anything as even unchecked it seems to download and keep a copy of
 the messages locally.

 What do I need to install? I am thoroughly confused about the
 Integrator/Connector/Lightning stuff as I have mostly overlooked it
 since I thought we were going to go straight web interface.

 In short, you should install all three on each client. The Integrator
 takes care of all the administration, i.e. permissions, ACL control,
 etc. The great thing about the Integrator is that when customized, it
 is the only extension that needs to be deployed to each Thunderbird
 client. The Integrator will then deploy Connector and Lighting
 automatically from the SOGo server if you as the admin choose to set
 it up that way. You can then push any updates through it as well.
 Obviously Lightning adds calendar functionality to Thunderbird. The
 Connector takes care of synchronizing calendar and contact data with
 the SOGo server. Take a look at the documentation. Once you
 understand the basic setup, it will make sense.

 http://www.sogo.nu/files/docs/SOGo%20Mozilla%20Thunderbird%20Configuration.pdf

 That makes more sense now. Basically I install/configure the integrator
 and it does the rest. This should give them similar functionality to
 having outlook clients correct? Just without the bloatware that is
 outlook :)

 I have read the descriptions but am not clear on which one does what
 we would need. I want the same functionality of the web interface,
 minus the HTML/text email composition issues, but in the thunderbird
 client. We need all email, calendar, contacts, etc in the client.

 Any guidance is welcome.

You could sniff the traffic on your IMAP port and see what's happening.

When you delete a message from any folder, the message will first be copied to
the trash and then marked as deleted. If you switch to a different module
(Addressbook or Calendar) or logout, the folder will be expunge. You can also
explicitly expunge a folder by choosing Compact this folder from the
contextual menu.

If you delete a message from the trash folder, it won't be copied anywhere and
marked as deleted. You have to compact the trash folder to claim some space.

Are you using SSL? Thunderbird didn't think my certificates were up

was doing that, the Integrator would spin. I took the time to
import my certificates and set Thunderbird to accept them, and then
Integrator took off. One could/should also take the time to make

I think for the Connector this needs to be:

 version =   3.104,
 filename =   sogo-connector-3.104.xpi ),

I thought the array( whatever was just whatever you wanted to

I don't think so. It needs to be the same as what's in the Connector's
install.rdf file. That would be:

   em:id=sogo-connec...@inverse.ca

That makes sense now. Odd that it works once removed though. I will
give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks!

Do you have your Lightning in a folder named WINNT_x86-msvc (for
Windows clients)? If not, try that.

Glad you are making progress!

I do not. That is the odd thing, if I put the files or link the
files in

the same directory as the updates.php they will install but keep
thunderbird in an infinite reboot loop. As soon as I remove the
links or

extra files it will start and function properly.

For Lightning, the actual xpi files will have the same name -- just
download the appropriate xpi for your architectures and put them in the
corresponding folders.

Ahhh... All I saw was the x86 version for windows. I did not see a
64-bit version so I didn't think it mattered really. I will try that
also.

Ok, So making the changes as indicated above I still get this in my

SOGoOfficer.xml will allow users to authenticate against the SOGo server
when connecting to Funambol. This means the administrator does not have
to redundantly set up and manage users/passwords within Funambol for

WOApplicationRedirectURL is no longer required, as long as you set the HTTP

x-webobjects-server-url in nginx.

The password algorithm of an SQL source can be crypt, md5 or sha. You could
code support for additional algorithms in SQLSource.m.

Re: [SOGo] Cant delete messages

2011-01-24 Thread jonr

Quoting Francis Lachapelle flachape...@inverse.ca:

Hi Jon

You could sniff the traffic on your IMAP port and see what's happening.

When you delete a message from any folder, the message will first be
copied to the trash and then marked as deleted. If you switch to a
different module (Addressbook or Calendar) or logout, the folder
will be expunge. You can also explicitly expunge a folder by
choosing Compact this folder from the contextual menu.

If you delete a message from the trash folder, it won't be copied
anywhere and marked as deleted. You have to compact the trash folder
to claim some space.

Thanks Francis, I sniffed the wire and it is making the correct IMAP
requests. It looks like my understanding of how Sogo dealt with
deleted messages was more my issue.

What does Compact This Folder do exactly? It doesn't expunge the
messages in the Trash folder, the way the Empty Trash option does.
Does Empty Trash not reclaim the free space?

Another thing I noticed as I worked through this problem. When you
send a message to the Trash folder then right-click on Trash and
choose the option Empty Trash, this expunges the message. If you
then click on another module or mailbox then click on Trash again, you
get the message of:

The message you selected doesn't exist anymore.

The message has been expunged from the system so the error is correct
but I don't think you should see it every time you click on Trash
after you have expunged the Trash folder. If you logout then back in
again you will no longer receive the message.

[SOGo] This message contain an event that has already been processed

2011-01-24 Thread Ben
I'm wondering the status on bug 781 (
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=781 ) -- this causes thunderbird to
report This message contain an event that has already been processed
and not provide accept/decline buttons when you get a event invitation.
It would be great if t-bird always let you accept/decline both new
events or change your answer if you've already replied (but display your
current accept/decline status). Also bug 878 (
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=878 ) is related or maybe a duplicate.

For me, it is the only remaining feature/function that really affects my
install, so here's my +1 vote to fixing it.

[SOGo] Thunderbird SOGo Integrator Restart Loop

2011-01-24 Thread Birger Brunswiek
Hi All,
I setup a custom integrator plugin (version 3.104) for Thunderbird.
Following the documentation
http://www.sogo.nu/files/docs/SOGo%20Mozilla%20Thunderbird%20Configuration.pdf
I created a custom rdf and updates.php file (attached). After installing
the plugin in Thunderbird I can see Thunderbird downloading the
connector and lightning extensions. They are also correctly saved in the
user's temp directory. Thunderbird then requests a restart and restarts
itself if I do not approve within seconds. Thunderbird then starts to
download the extensions again, requests a restart, restarts and keeps
doing this forever. The extensions actually never get installed.

If I install the connector and lightning extensions manually and then
install the connector, everything is working just fine as long as I do
not change updates.php to instruct the connector to perform an upgrade
in which case the download-restart-loop returns.

Any pointers?

Interestingly the files written to the user's temp directory are called
sogo-connector-3.104.xpi and lightning-1.0b2.104i.xpi but they are in
fact gzips of the original files provided by the update server. Those
files cannot be installed in Thunderbird directly unless I ungzip them.

Cheers,
Birger

called sogo-connector-3.104.xpi and lightning-1.0b2.104i.xpi but they
are in fact gzips of the original files provided by the update server.
Those files cannot be installed in Thunderbird directly unless I
ungzip them.

Cheers,
Birger

Part of your updates.php file looks suspect. Try the following instead.

$pluginname = $_GET[plugin];
$plugin = $plugins[$pluginname];
$application = $applications[$plugin[application]];

if ( $plugin ) {
  $platform = $_GET[platform];
  if ( $platform
 file_exists( $platform . / . $plugin[filename] ) ) {
$plugin[filename] = $platform . / . $plugin[filename];
  }
  elseif ( !file_exists( $plugin[filename] ) ) {
$plugin = false;
  }
}

Are your plugins in the downloads folder with your updates.php? The
Integrator and Connector should be in the same folder, and the Lightning
plugin should be in it's respective platform-dependent sub-directory.

I changed that bit intentionally. The integrator and the connector
extensions are in a subdirectory named /extensions/ and the platform
specific lightning extensions are in the subdirectory
/extensions/$platform/. You can browse the directory structure at
https://www.wmicomputer.de/downloads/.

 Are your plugins in the downloads folder with your updates.php?

No, they are in the /extensions/ subdirectory, but I think the connector
does retrieve the extensions correctly as I can see copies of them in
the user's temp directory after Thunderbird requested to be restarted.

Birger

 I had the same behavior - did you try install under Windows 7?

I tried Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Same effect.

 Installing all Plugins manually and restart after every plugin installation
 did help.

Yes, that work's but only until the next update on the update server.
