Subject: [xwiki-users] Firefox and IE file link problem

Hi All,

Although the documentation states that [file
link>file:///C:/test.txt] should provide a file link, when you click on
such a link in IE or firefox nothing happens. No error, no response.
With IE you can at least right click the link and "Save Target As", but
not in Firefox.

I can verify that the link to test.txt is correct by writing a
simple html file that contains only "Click
here for text.txt". That simple html file works fine- click the
link and you get a test.txt.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.12, and IE 6.0, and Xwiki 1.2.2 on
windows.

I have a document with a input type="file" and a submit button. After I

- attach the file to the document
- do something with the file content...
- deattach the file out of the document

Can I reuse the action /xwiki/bin/upload/.. to write my action ?

[xwiki-users] wysiwyg editor 1.2.1 table styles

2008-02-21 Thread Rick Nuckolls

If more than one table row is selected in the wysiwyg editor, and a style
(such as a font size) is applied to the rows, then each cell will be wrapped
in  {style span...} text {style} .

When this is saved, the newlines at the end of the rows will disappear. ie

{style span...} row1, last cell{style}
{style span...} row2, first cell{style}

becomes
{style span...} row1, last cell{style} {style span...} row2, first
cell{style}

Is there an easy way around this?

Thanks for the "My" :-)

As for the "bug", I have not been able yet to find a pattern. It happens
with some users, but not with others. And I am not able to find the
differences between them concerning rights assignments. Come back as

Yeap,

Just add ?xpage=passwd to the user's page URL. Something like this...

http://your.host.name/xwiki/bin/view/XWiki/[username]?xpage=passwd

Read this...

You can find useful information in XWiki's FAQ page.

Re: [xwiki-users] Bulletin Board cannot display topic title and first post !?

2008-02-21 Thread Guillaume Lerouge
There's a problem indeed...
Here is the code :

#set ($sql = ", BaseObject as obj where obj.name=doc.fullName and
obj.className='BBCode.BBClass' and obj.name<>'BBCode.BBClassTemplate' order
by doc.date desc")

#set($bbs = $xwiki.searchDocuments($sql))

#foreach ($item in $bbs)

#set ($bbdoc = $xwiki.getDocument($item))

#if ($bbdoc.hasAccessLevel('view', $context.user) == 'true')

#if ($bbdoc.getValue('bbtitle') != "")

* [$bbdoc.display('bbtitle')>$item]

#else

* [$item]

#end

#end

#end

-> the check on rights is done before the moment each Bulletin Board is
displayed, so it may have something to do with the rights configuration...
Do you explicitely deny the view right to your user ?

(Locally when I deny view right to an user he cannot see the bulletin boards
he can't access in the list, ie I don't get the bug)

In the meanwhile I've updated the XAR for the panel to read My instead of
Your ;-)

I do! At least for us, this is a longly desired application/feature.

Of course we will use it and report back any issue. I know it will be
desirable we can contribute in a more active way, but I am afraid we have to
keep learning prior to be helpful.

Just a detail and another thing that could be considered as a bug:

1. The title of the panel list reads: "Your Bulletin Boards". There is
another useful panel listing recent modifications that reads "My Recent
Modifications". I do prefer the "my" instead of the "your": the user has
this nice feeling of control over what s/he is accessing. Of course it is
quite easy to modify this, but you have to do that each time the panel is
reimported. I don't know it if is worthing to consider this.

2. See this...

http://mire.environmentalchange.net/~webmaster/images/BBCodeRRodriguez.png

I've rights to read all three BB created in this wiki. So, the panel shows
the right contents. But see this...

http://mire.environmentalchange.net/~webmaster/images/BBCodeXPontevedra.png

User Xabier has access only to BB Red Natura 2000. Each one of the three
links points to one of the three created BB to which I've access, but access
is correctly denied.

Perhaps this makes sense for your before I am able to dig into the code to
see what is happening here. Thanks!

2008-02-21 Thread Guillaume Lerouge
Hi Richard,

The Bulletin Board application is looking good - I'll certainly try it when
I have a chance - will it be included with the lastest version of XWiki?

no, most probably not. The XWiki dev strategy is that modules & applications
shall be separated from each other as much as possible. Therefore the BB
won't probably be in the next release of XE.

However please note that since none of the BB files overwrites existing XE
pages, you can safely and easily import it in a fresh install of XE. The
full process will take around 3 minutes, each step is detailed here :

See the broken tags and incomplete xwiki rules? I don't know why this
happened. I hope the upgrading tool did not do that to *all* my documents !

Now we have another problem we try to solve. We followed upgrading rules
(mysql dump + mysql import on test server, then deploy xwiki and wait
for it to upgrade documents), but all our utf-8 characters are broken.
It looks like they got interpreted as ISO-8859 in the middle of process,
somewhere. Take a look at before (current production wiki 0.9) and after
(test wiki 1.2):
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6695/utf8oh6.png

Both old and upgraded test wiki connect using the useUnicode=true and
characterEncoding=UTF-8 but somehow upgraded database is broken :/ Any hint?

[xwiki-users] [XE 1.2.2] Space characters trimmed in attachment names

2008-02-21 Thread BOUSQUET Jeremie
Hello,

Don't know if it's a bug or an evolution, but after migrating my xwiki
to 1.2.2, when I attach a new file to a page, all spaces characters are
trimmed from the name. I didn't found anything about that in Jira.

For example "My Doc Attached.doc" gets renamed to "MyDocAttached.doc".

I see at least one issue coming from this : if you attach the same file
it's not considered the same because it's renamed. Your existing links
also link to the previous version, and it's not easy to find by
end-user.

And anyway you don't want the file to be renamed when attached ...

I'm using XE 1.2.2 on MySql 4.0 and RedHat R4.

WDTY ?

Thanks,

Jeremie

Hi Guillaume!

I am not sure this is a good comparison. I must recognize that the last
MediaWiki release I've installed and used is a bit old (1.9.3), but as
far as I see the possibilities open by the XWiki arquitecture are far
from being comparable to the ones provided by MediaWiki. In MediaWiki
you have an interface to create new headed paragraphs of the same level
in the discussion page. But what you have done is to provide a tool to
create an object for each post, topic,... and this opens an universe (or
multiverse!) of opportunities.

The example from Elle is PERFECT. But instead of using comments, I would
like to use BBCode. It is not possible to categorize comments as we can
categorize Category(sic)>Topic>Message.

Thanks for the tips! I have these hours indeed. In the meantime, I keep
trying to make the pieces fit!

Re: [xwiki-users] Latex html in editor for math formulas?

2008-02-21 Thread A.Aqrawi
You can see first results at...

http://193.136.136.185:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Sandbox/xWikiTutorial

it actually works pretty good. i could do everythingusing MathTranas
paul suggested.

Alan, Ricardo,

what's on i2geo.net will be published soon. It's just a macro and a javascript
embedding and uses the MathTran server.

The syntax? real LaTeX, which is indeed running at mathtran.org. No own macros
though.
That also means it's full LaTeX contrary to most latex-imitators (but which,
often, can do mathml for example).

We should be announcing this in a few days... probably starting as a jira issue
that contains the jar.

It may take a fair more time to get high-quality printouts though... i.e.
either that someone works on the print-channel-through tex (which is fragile
because tex is a very old system) or that we work out on the dvi inclusion in
the print channel.

Would there be a better space to publish these ?
we could start a project on our libresource forge, but maybe the XWiki folks
team has a better place?

paul

Oh thanks ricardo - that was quick

I think the MathTran should be good for nowuntil maybe something
in-editor is developed
Do you have experience with MathTran and linking it to the page?
Does it work good and project all LaTex formulae?

That would be good to know, before i go out there and tell everybody i
have a solution :-).

Hi,

You must be aware of this...

http://i2geo.net/bin/Sandbox/Formulae

There is at least a thread in xwiki-devs dealing with this issue. Look
for MathTran there.

Hope this helps,

Re: [xwiki-users] Bulletin Board cannot display topic title and first post !?

2008-02-21 Thread Guillaume Lerouge
It makes sense, discussions àla Wikipedia if I'm right ;-)
The quickest way to do this is to create a specific skin with a new
displayer for comments. In fact, that's what was done for
http://wikipeople.elle.fr, see for instance
http://wikipeople.elle.fr/xwiki/bin/view/People/DrewBarrymore .

As for the rights setting (people seeing the page but not the comments), I'm
not sure that XWiki can do that out of the box... What you could do though
is to create 2 spaces, MySpace & MySpaceDiscussion -> then on each page of
/MySpace you put a button such as
[PageDiscussion>MySpaceDiscussion.$doc.getName()] (through a panel for
instance). Then people can create a discussion page with different rights
for each existing page. With the parent set right it's easy to get back from
the page in the discussion space to the original one...

Then you'd need to create a topic in your panel in the second space. You
could try to put this in a panel on the 2nd space :

$doc.getObject('BBCode.TopicClass', true) -> this creates a topic in your
page, but you'd still miss all the content on the TopicClassSheet... Maybe
playing a bit with an input form in the panel :-)

But this looks like a big hack... Good luck if you wanna try and do it
though ;-)

Guillaume

PS: if you wait a few hours, I'll may have the time to improve the BB's
remaining rough edges and upload a new XAR...
