If your'e coming to Australia get a test ride of an XJR-1300 if you want a naked with
torque. 1500rpm to 8500 and as flat as the Nullabor (a 2000mile road between Adelaide
and Perth, you'll learn all about it when you get down under)
It's cheap to, about $13000.00 Aust. thats only about
Kelly I looked at my big bro's XJR when you emailed last and you were right
about the R1 rotor not being countersunk as per Max. The forks on that bike have
about the same clearance as a stock Max setup has so it probably would be wise
to give the bolts a little haircut as well as countersinking
Hi Sam , It is a very old U.S.A. brand name for a bicycle .
It is spelled Schwinn . I missed spelled it just like our little buddy
Don "young man" Smith :)

You learn something every day. Let me know how that ME-880 works out. I
have spoken to Don and won't try one yet as my front tyre is a Super Venom
and is pretty new. He's not sure the ME-880 will work with the Avon, they
are pretty different in design.
Which front tyre do you have? or are you
thanks for the response
sounds like i need to get it apart
anyone know where i can get a clymer type manual

The only manual available for Mr Max is the factory manual.

Hi to all. I am new to the list,(South Africa) but have been following the
debate on rear tires with interest. For what it's worth,I have recently
fitted a 170/80 x 15 Michelin Tarmac. What a transformation! I run a 1996
V-max with Dynojet stage1,K+N filter and Hindle pipe and when not pushing it
Hi Guys,
Looking back, I'm pretty sure the Metzeler tire that I used a couple of
years ago was the 88, not the 880. It was a TERRIBLE tire. The Old Man and I
have gone back and forth about Avon vs. Metzeler for a while. I actually
held myself back from saying how bad the Metzeler was compared to
Sat, I had one of the ME88's also some yr's. ago. All the damn thing did
is spin. Hit 2nd hard and it wouldn't stop until you backed of the
throttle. Aslo tried the Conti's, Michelin, you name it. The 591 was the
only thing that would bite, and forgiving on a dirty road.

Hi Guys,
Some guy at work told me he tried the Mikuni carb intakes
designed for snowmobiles on his Suzuki (stage 3 Dynojet) with great
results, (these intakes are nothing more than polished aluminum velocity
stacks with a fine mesh screen)
But remember here, we're
I recently performed the "Furbur Fix" on my V Max ( I don't think I snugged
the nuts quite enough). I am really puzzled: why is it necessary to change
the order ofn the components from clip - nut - rubber washer - nut to clip -
rubber washer - nut - nut? The advantage of leaving the rubber washer
it shoud be nut/ steel washer/ nut

Hey Mario,
I think TC's been travelling, if memory serves me correctly.
I haven't used the velocity stacks on the max, but they should work pretty
well. I'd take off the screen, though, since it's only effective against
really BIG debris and will greatly reduce flow rates. (If you don't believe

Don et all,
I want to thank everybody for the responses on the tire issue. I've
decided to go with the Tarmac and try it out. I hope it hooks up as
good as everyone says.(Gotta love that V-max acceleration!)
As far as the Furber fix goes, I have never had the desire to do it. I
