I'm trying to install VDR on my linuxmce machine. There's a catch,
though: I can only use the regular multiproto drivers from a few weeks
ago since the new ones (and the multiproto plus driver) won't detect
my DVB-S2 S2-3200 card.
it's strange - the latest version of multiproto should
conversion.
VDR will still record separate programmes, though. It won't record the
entire TS.
is a lot of vdr-code need patch for this ?
when will you plan to release next vdr 1.7.* version with new ts features ?

I followed a german tutorial on how to install VDR with xine. It had
some patches for better h.264 playback, but when I tune to BBC HD, it's
still painfully slow, and the image is quite bad, too!
Try to cheat decoding in ~/.xine/config:

I don't know if this is applicable for your setup, but did you try
vdr-plugin-xineliboutput instead of vdr-plugin-xine?
It is at least 3 things in one:
- Client/Server architecture: splits VDR (server) and displaying software
- Media Player integrated (via OSD)
- X11 (XV or others)

Vanilla VDR-1.7.0 does not work with v4l-dvb drivers.
You have two options :
- download multiproto drivers from http://jusst.de/hg/multiproto
make and make install
you may need to patch those drivers, depends on your kernel version
And if you want an up to date tree, AFAIK there

can it or can it not have multiple clients watching different programs?

VDR does need some of its core functionality upgraded - for example
something like the Reel channel scan is badly missing, you should be
able to easily scan for transponders from within VDR, just like most
satellite receivers.

This is an extenions patch from Zulu for the vdr.

with the latests xine-lib-1.2/ffmpeg/xineliboutput I very often have the
h264-segfault during of switching between ORF
(720p - channel with progressive video) and Astra HD, Anixe HD (1080i
channels). Has somebody the same problem ?

A few notes:
Bug reports are very important. Reports about bugs in H264 are especially
important: H264 is an important codec, and it might not

Here's a new patch for DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T and DVB-C support using S2API
in combination with VDR 1.7.0. By accident I
used an old source tree for the patch from 04-10-2008, which resulted in
problems getting a stable lock on DVB-T
and/or perhaps DVB-C. The included patch will fix
here are the vdr S2API patches for vdr 1.7.1 + extensions 64 patch
and also for the vanilla vdr 1.7.1.
does these patches include the DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T and DVB-C support ?
