What do you use to stream your flies back to shape, I have lot's of them
and some time coming up.
So far I've used the kettle for feathers.

The entire organization just takes time, and that get's in short supply when
you take part in shows, swaps and teaching, oh and a job.
I feel that September 1, when I am retired I'll reorganize as well. I
started with plastic shoe boxes
You folks are getting me motivated. I have two HUGE Rubbermaid storage
containers full of fly boxes and a couple of shoe boxes full of swap
flies that need to be sorted. Sounds like a great winter project.
At least you've got me thinking about it. :-)

Hi VFB!
I've tied for over 35 years, so have the typical accumulation of materials
needing organization and storage. Can't say I have lucked into the ideal
arrangement spanning two tying areas, but can offer a few tips that have
worked for me.
Sorting materials and supplies:
This one comes
to move. I figure by
next spring I should have it sorted out and organized again.

Hmmmh! I thought that had a storage/organization problem but Don O has an
even bigger problem after seeing his tying room.
Seriously, I am looking for idea's from the list. As a result of buying a
friends fly tying materials, I do have some duplication, but I need to organize
the whole lot

One of the pleasant problems of living in British Columbia is the diverse
fishing opportunities that it offers the fly fisherman.
I start my season in March April tying chironomid or buzzers as they are
known
and trout.
Really like the Boise Meridian area. I can walk outside and tell it's not
Casper- just by the humidity and lack of wind.

Say Don,
How do you like Boise? Are you in the city or out a ways close to a river?

True, but I started tying in 1974 having tied a few in my youth using whatever
I could get my hands on such as feathers from a pillow aluminum cooking foil
for the tinsel. After 40 years of tying, and I think that I can honestly say I
have tied flies during each of those years and have built
again.

I tie for several different types of water and fish including the
occasional order. I keep the bulk of sometimes used stuff in large
tubes, craft and work shop drawers. For immediate use I have a system in
place where its in an easy to get to spread pile on my tying table

You failed to mention you have enough fly tying materials, hooks and tools
to open a fully stocked fly shop.
