Hi Peggy,
to make it as cold as possible, I'll ty a Jack Frost variation. This is a
pattern from Bob Church. I'll use as much of the suggested material as possible:
Ice dub instead of the white wool
Red arctic fox for the tail
Hair from a doter yeti to replace the marabou (if I can find some
Peggy, I will probably be tying a Doc Markham peril which he uses, and
claims is the ONLY fly to be used, with success, on the Snake river. It's
basically a transformed purple peril using arctic fox and lots of flash.

I'm in. If everyone would respond with where they salt fish, I'll try
to choose something appropriate. I fish the flats, inshore and offshore
of Texas, with occasional trips to Mexico., so I can use just about
anything. (I copy a lot of Northeast striper flies for use inshore here.)

Joyce,
Can’t wait to get this one. My son lives in Boise now, and I’m hoping to get
the fish the Snake quite often in the next few years. A go-to killer pattern
is just what I need for new water. Do you have a preferred fishing method, time
of day, season, etc. for this one?

Hi Jack,
Most of my saltwater fishing is done for striped bass and blue fish.
Thanks

Rene, You could re-name your swap variation the 'Jack Frost-bite' fly.
(Another sub-space communication from Buggs. He told me some things about
his space ship that is hidden in the comet's tail.)

Guys, I was looking at the purple peril fly images on Google, and this photo
was there. What in the world does this have to do with ‘purple peril’? Totally
off topic. I think I’ll report this.

Hey DonO
I caught my first steelhead on a fly with a home tied purple peril. I spotted
two fish under a low bridge and had a heck of a time casting side arm upstream
under the bridge against the wind. The first cast hit the bridge, but the
second one timed between wind gusts flew straight
I was asked to pass this on from his son.

Via via via i have received an email directed to Bas. I'm his son Marco and Bas
sends you his warmest regards.
He is doing well but his overall condition is not very strong at the moment. He
needs a walking aid and the days of fishing and tying
