Re: [videoblogging] puppies!!!!

ROFL. My whole life is puppies (as my videos
attest!). How old are yours? Sorry, but I'm in California. I
would suggest contacting your local SPCA, though--as a no-kill organization,
they would find foster homes for them until final homes can be found. Good
luck.

Re: [videoblogging] What is Your Definition of TV

2006-05-12 Thread BevSykes

it's interesting that the programmes
people are listing are all dramaand/or gameshows (i'm including antiques
roadshow in that category;)no one listed any documentary or 'life'
shows (news doesn't count fornow ;)

The shows I TIVO

-The Daily Show
- Monk
- House
- Survivor
- American Idol (I'm
so ashamed)
- West Wing (sniff--what will I do after next
week?)
- Lost
- ER

I also enjoy Food Network or Animal Planet, when
there is nothing else on (I'm a TV junkie--it's on all the time, as I work at
home, and it keeps me company).

Shows I don't record, but always watch if I'm home
when they are on:

- 60 Minutes
- Washington Week
- Ellen
- Two and a Half Men

And, cyclically, when they are on: Top Chef,
Runway, and Food Network's Next Star, The Apprentice

I obviously watch a lot more TV than most of you,
but I think that it's a nice mix of drama, reality, documentary, news,
etc.

you'll either want to get off at
16th st. Mission or Civic Center (on Market Street). The walk from both
stops is not bad, as long as you aren't loaded up too heavy.
...and if you are loaded up too heavy, there is a
street car which runs up Market St. and should let you off pretty close to the
hotel.

NOTE FOR INCOMING PARTICIPANTS:

"Street cars" and "Cable cars" are two different
vehicles. Natives would appreciate it if you don't confuse the two.
"Street cars"are connected tooverhead lines, "Cable cars" run on
underground cables.

Also, while I'm trying tohelp the group
become Politically Correct, it is "San Francisco" not "Frisco." People
have suffered severe bodily harm from using the latter term. (Kind of like
a Brit asking someone for a rubber when he wants to erase
something.)

Re: [videoblogging] Re: why you now have an error on all your pages

I'll see your sarcasm and raise
you a "tough shit".It's assumed that if one joins this list, then one
reads the postshere. If you arent reading the posts, then why join the
group?
OK...I'll address this issue. I was
told that this is a group for all levels of
videobloggers, from rank beginners to experts, that people would answer
questions and never put anybody down for asking a stupid question. I have
found this generally to be true. I would not know 1/10th of what I know
now without FreeVlog, for example. HOWEVER, someone coming into this group
as a rank beginner would very quickly be totally overwhelmed with all the
technospeak from the experts, to say nothing of the volume of
e-mail.

I don't have a clue about the technical aspects
of videoblogging and posting. I think that, as a senior citizen, I'm doing
well to (a) make a video, (b) compress it, (c) post it, and (d) imbed it into my
journal page and cross post to Blogger. At the moment, my miniDV is broken
and I have no money to buy a new camera--and no hope of having enough money for
a new purchase in the foreseeable future, so I'm filming with my Panasonic
Digital camera, converting .mov files to .avi if I want to edit a movie, and
then converting back to .mov (I was rather proud of myself for figuring out how
to do that).

But quite frankly I am totally lost in most of
the discussions here. Still, I do pick up gems of information from time to
time and so I stay on the list, but I either skip over 90% of the
discussions or set my filter to send them to an "ignore" file because I don't
understand what people are talking about (Veoh transcoding feeds, for example)
and, what with bottle feeding puppies and doing medical transcription, don't
have the time to figure it out--especially when I don't have the money to get
the equipment that will allow me to do it anyway.

So that's why I stick with the group, but don't
read most of the posts anyway.

LOL...for those who DIDn't they are spaniel
mixes...for a change I don't have "labmixes." They're just now
learning to walk and I'm letting them out of the cage more often. This is
the really cute time. One nice thing about doing this for the SPCA is that
you know how people say "the problem with puppies and kittens is that they grow
up to be dogs and cats." I have dogs and don't want to add any more (no
space), but I can periodically still have puppies, knowing that they will
eventually go off to good homes.

2. Very personal/emotional/real. I can't think of an entire
vlog that is like this, as nobody has intense moments all the time. But I do
like when I see a spot like that.

If you want very personal/emotional/real, if not
exactly terrific production values, I recommend http://www.youtube.com/user/artofholly
. I don't watch her stuff regularly, but each episode
is very personal.

I've been in a video void lately--no time to watch
much at all, but I never miss http://missbhavens.blogspot.com/and

because I feel comfortable with their videos...and I love missbhavens' take on

Re: [videoblogging] Traffic on Your Vlog?

2006-04-08 Thread BevSykes

   1. How long has your vlog been up?

I
had a blog which was a supplement to my daily journal (which I've been keeping
since 2000). I turned the blog into a vlog in September of
2005.
   2. How many vlog entries do you have posted?

More than 200. I don't know the exact
number, but I post one a day (hence Videoblogging Week 2006 was a piece o'
  cake for me)
   3. How much traffic do you get?

  LOL. Traffic? What's that? (I
  have whopping 12 subscribers)
   4. What's the URL of your vlog? http://funnytheblog.blogspot.com/ 5. How many feeds
and directories did you submit you site to? This is where I'm a real
  neophyte. I don't honestly know.

   6. How else do you promote your vlog? I'm not the sort
of vlog that most people here are looking for, so I've given up
"promoting." I watch other people's vlogs, make comments when I like
them. I link from my daily journal and that's about it. I've given
up trying to be one of the cool kids. 7. Bookmark rate?
  Haven't a clue 8. Search Engine Saturation:
ditto 9. Link Popularity: ditto. Somewhere in the
basement. 10. Google Page Rank: ?? 10. Why
do you vlog? Because I enjoy it. I like making videos, I like editing
videos. I like making a record of things that are important to me.
Lately, I love making videos of the puppies we host for the SPCA because
they're so darn cute. I do it for myself and if there is anybody who
watches, that's just frosting on the cake.

Re: [videoblogging] HDD for Video Blogging?

2006-04-05 Thread BevSykes

SUGGESTION:

I see this question posted often. I'm one of
the ones who have asked a similar question. I rarely see it get answered
because I suspect people roll their eyes and think "oh no--not again."
What about posting a file with recommended cameras, in various price
ranges, that people could refer to, so we don't all feel like dolts for
asking questions that nobody answers.

  Blogging?
We're thinking about starting a vlog. I read on Gizmodo the
other day about Sony coming out with an HDD Handycam (the DCR-SR100).
After reading about that, I also discovered the JVC already has a couple
on the market (the Everio G Series). Do any of you currently use an HDD
camcorder? What are the advantages? The cameras seem a little more
expensive, but we wouldn't need to invest in any tapes, discs, or any
other media, so it seems pretty appealing and ideal for doing a vlog. What
do you think? Any and all help/opinions would be greatly appreciated as
I'd love to get this thing going asap. Many thanks in advance! P.S. If
not an HDD camera, what other kinds of cameras do current vloggers use that
  are reccomended?

[videoblogging] Camera

2006-03-25 Thread BevSykes

Well, I hadn't expected to be asking THIS question,
but it appears that my reconditioned mini DV is dead. I don't know that I
can afford a new camera, but if I can, it is going to have to be in the
$300-$400 range. Less is better. Any recommendations from
anyone? I would dearly love to have the opportunity to attach an external
mic, which I did not have on the camera I had. I would also prefer to have
it record to disc rather than to tape. I may, of course, be looking for
pie in the sky.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: SF Vloggercon Hotels?

2006-03-14 Thread BevSykes

The Red Victorian is GREAT. I haven't
actually stayed there, but I've been through the lobby (a friend of my mother's
owns it). It's in the middle of the now faux hippie neighborhood and is
just a block or two from Golden Gate Park. A bit of a schlep to Journal
Con, but I've had good reports about the hotel itself from people who have
stayed there.

You're right though... I've
never been to SF, but from the sounds ofit the Vloggercon is not located in
the best area.

I can't afford to come to Vloggercon, but I know San Francisco.
The site for Vloggercon is in a fairly good area. It's on the outskirts of
the Castro (iow, you can avoid all those "disgusting" gays, if that's your
mindset...though the Castro is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the
city). You will find Union Square more expensive and the route from Union
Square to Vloggercon some of themore uncomfortableareas in the
city--lots of street people. Twin Peaks is lovely, though I don't know of
many hotels there and the route to Vloggercon would be interesting at best
(again, have to pass Castro St. Shudder. And unless you are part
mountain goat, the trip back up Market St. will be a killer.)

Whoever suggested Berkeley has a good idea. BART (Bay Area Rapid
Transit) plus MUNI would put you almost, if not directly, in front of Vloggercon
and there would be little need to either have a car or to walk.

Wish I could afford to join you all, but maybe you'll let me come and
meet you at dinner or coffee or something.

I'm sure there are others in the "in" group who live in SF and can
answer any questions about SF, but I wanted to stick up for the neighborhood and
let you know that it's not the undesirable area you may think it's going to
be.

I am very happy to help anybody with any questions if you e-mail me
privately so we don't clog the list with this sort of chatter.

You talked about SNL and The Daily Show
manipulating the news to make it humorous. If a reporter is manipulating
the news (under-reporting the popularity of video blogs) for some reason, how
does that make it any different from SNL or The Daily Show? (The only way
it would be different is if the reporter was too clueless to actually do the
research and find out the truth behind the story)

I love very short vlogs, 2-4
minutes.

Just like a "real" news report, huh? We are the Sesame Street
generation, the fast food generation, where we lose interest very quickly, so
all the good stuff has to be pared down to fit into a 2-5 minute time slot.
Which, of course, is a great way to learn how to edit effectively.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: DVD Rip

2006-02-21 Thread BevSykes

Thanks to everyone who recommended Handbrake as a
DVD ripping software. For the price (free), you can't beat it. I
wanted to alert people to what I'm doing this week, just because I hope that
more people will check it out.

My son, who was an actor, did a monologue show,
"Sedona, Arizona,"about life, death, and his search for spirituality in
1999, just months before he died. (He died in an accident--this is not a
"dying man's last statement" sort of show.) The show is funny, poignant,
emotional, and angry. He received excellent reviews for the show and he
intended to film and market it. They got the monologue parts filmed, but
he died before he could add the musical numbers which come between the monologue
segments.

I'm posting one segment a day. There are 8 of
them and they last from 5-10 minutes each. I posted the first one today at
http://basykes.blip.tv/file/get/Basykes-SedonaArizona1497.mov(also
at http://www.dailymotion.com/basykes/video/54990)
and will be posting one a day for the rest of the week. Episode 5 is the
most emotional of the 8. There is a longer than usual black lead-in to
each segment. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I hope that by
alerting this group to its existence, it will get a bit wider
audience.

Thanks again for the DVD help.

Re: [videoblogging] video on the web verses video on the desktop verses video on TV verses....

2006-02-16 Thread BevSykes

Do you enjoy watching vlog video on: + The Web+
Desktop Media Player and/or Aggregator+ TV+ Portable Media
Player (viPod, PSP etc)

The web. I was using FireAnt for awhile, but
I find the Google Reader easier, so subscribe thru Google Reader and then watch
the original video link. If I were rich enough to afford an viPod, I would
work more with Fireant and d/l to that.

Questions questions questions. Please explain your
opinions and describe your the type of net video consumer you are. +
Are you hard core? Spend several hours a day watching video?
+ Are you more casual and periodically will watch some video throughout the
day? + Are you a remixer? Do you need/like to organize all the video from
channels you subscribe to for later? + Do you typically watch the same video
more than once? If so, do you find it annoying to go back to the source to
grab or search your computer for it?

Definitely fall in the "more casual"
category. I subscribe to too many, watch as many as I can, but not
everything. I may spend an hour to an hour and a half in a 24 hr period
watching videos. Again, with a viPod, I would be able to watch more

(My birthday is tomorrow, if anyone is
feeling generous g)

Do you enjoy the web video experience? What makes it good or
bad for you?

Yes, I enjoy it. Content makes it good for
me. My preferences run less to the "artsy" videos and more to those which
let me know something of the vlogger's life. And I agree with the person
who mentioned videos that don't allow the viewer to pause or rewind as a
negative.

Do you like special software to handle video playback?

Just QuickTime and WindowsMediaPlayer.

Do you care about online video working like a TV so you can channel
surf?

If it didn't involve buying additional equipment,
perhaps, though sometimes the sheer amount of video available is
overwhelming. I would love to have a better way to separate the wheat from
the chaff. If all the anime in the worldcould be stuck in one
channel that I could totally ignore, I would be a much happier person, for
example.

Are you online most of the time? Have broadband?

Yes, and Yes. I occasionally take bathroom
breaks, however.

Commute and use a portable
device?

No.
What kind of video consumers are out there?

Well, now you know about me.

I think it's important to
remember that Home video bloggers are perhaps not as high on vlogger ladder
of credibility as perhaps those that show more exciting footage. This isn't
a bad thing necessarily just seems to be a norm. Cool stuff is just not
equal to videos of children doing child things or pets doing pet things
unless you are a child/pet person. :-}

How condescending of you. From what I understand video blog means
a blog that includes video. "Credibility," in my dictionary, means
something that is believable. Perhaps home video bloggers have the highest
"credibility" over those who create "cool stuff."

Re: [videoblogging] The PAN!

2006-01-16 Thread BevSykes

short, long... whatever. its
not even worth debating since the wide audience consists of many different
preferences. why ask why and all that.
Glad to hear you say that. My own feeling is
that if it's done well, it will hold my attention no matter how long.
Deirdre Straughan had one the other day that was a car trip to Dallas, the sort
of thing that would usually turn me off very soon (how interesting can Texas
highways be, anyway??), but it was so cleverly done, with great background music
that I enjoyed the whole thing.

Minnesota Stories generally last longer than a few
minutes and are delightful.

Bicycle Sidewalk is generally fun to watch, as are
Ravi's Drive Time interviews --and I can't figure out why I'm so taken
with Carl Weaver's dry, offbeat humor

By the same token, there are some very brief "artsy
fartsy" kinds of videos that don't do a thing for me, though when they are
clever Ican beimpressed.

Like Sull, I think it's all a matter of taste and
everybody's tastes are different. I prefer something that shows me
something I haven't seen before or presents something familiar in a new
light.I also like videos that give me a glimpse into someone's life,
like Susan's KityKity, or Doug's glimpse into his world in Providence, RI or
Missbhavens life in New York.

[videoblogging] Directory

Is there a way to search for vloggers by
geographical area (if they aren't located on the map)? I would love to
pitch a story to my editor about video blogging, since there is such a lull in
entertainment news right now, but I couldn't do it without a local angle and for
all I know, I'm the only vlogger in the Davis - Woodland (California)
area. Since I'd be writing the story, I'd need more than
that.

Someone may have mentioned this, but a friend of
mine in the industry just sent this to me:

The Daytime Emmy Awards are adding a new
category. Podcasts, video blogs, even original content created for
cellphones. Submissions can come from anywhere, but must be produced for
distribution in the U.S. and must be available for viewing in at least 50% of
the national market. They plan to offer only one category at each
ceremony, but the competition could expand based on the response its first
year.

I didn't notice that particular statement in the
FAQs and didn't see any place where it mentions that. I did notice that
they say no nudity and that it should be "appropriate for all audiences."
My stuff isn't on a par with yours. It's not nearly as professional and
pretty appropriate for all audiences, so I guess those two issues don't bother
me as much. The one thing that DOES bother me is the amount of copyrighted
material that is posted to YouTube, direct from TV or other material that you
know is not the work of the poster. However, they may be cracking down on
that a bit now since it seems to be less than it was.

I still much prefer Blip, but for those who are
unable to see the stuff I post to Blip, YouTube is a nice compromise, for me
anyway. It seems to be getting better in the last month.

ah, you are assuming "cover" implies "licensed and royalties

I've been very fortunate with music. I have

Has anybody tried the google reader? I'm

The biggest problem with ANY video is that there is no
consistancy. There are multiple file formats (wmv, avi, mpg, mov,
etc) and multiple CODECS within each of those file formats (mp4, 3ivx,
xvid, divx, etc)... and NONE of them have become common.Audio is
pretty firmly entrenched in MP3s, and that won't be changing anytime
soon... no matter what anyone thinks about the quality or whatever.
Video hasn't reached that point... and I don't really think it ever
will.No matter which way you choose to encode your files, there's
going to be someone who can't see it. That's just the sad
truth. So you're choice becomes: 1) stick with ONE format and force
your viewers to download the appropriate player 2) encode your video
in as many formats, with as many codecs as possible... and hope it covers
enough people.People say that FLASH is very prevalent on most
computers (have I seen the 95% or something)... but I get about 5 calls a
day from people who don't have Flash on their computers, and since they're
on company workstations, they don't have permissions to install it.
If the goal is purely "reaching as many people as possible"... I'd
encode one video as a 3ivx .MOV, one as a .WMV, and one as a Flash
.FLV. If someone can't see at least one of those, they need to
  upgrade.-Terryhttp://boycottsociety.blogspot.com---

there isindeed a forum over at vlogdir.com. I, for one, think it would
bereally cool to use that as a means of communication as
well.Organizing messages into different topics makes it easier to find

Unfortunately, not all that many people have taken advantage of it. You can

forums as an alternative, but no alternative to this list seems to
have attracted many people to talk as much as is done here. Its a
shame because a lot less stuff would be ignored if this place was a
forum, people would be able to respond to links with a one word prely
such as 'cool' without fear of anybody moaning, and the original

willing participants to use in a Holiday Video Creation Contest. The song is
called "My Thanksgiving Prayer" and I have already made one music video vlog

for Veterans Day.
The prize is you get linked from my site and we all talk about what a genius
you are. When you finish your version, link back to this entry letting us know

use it in any way you wish, whether it's to make a memorial to your family, a
person, your job, your country, your favorite beer... whatever gives you
pleasure. The song is very sincere so it works well if you want to use it in an
ironic context.

I wanted to add that if you play the song from the
site itself, you only get a small portion of it. You have to download it
to get the full version. Check http://steveshack.blip.tv/file/get/Steveshack-VeteransDay2005Mpeg675.mpgto
see how he used it and to hear the whole song (in this particular file, with the
military sound to it)

[videoblogging] Suggestions, please

2005-11-18 Thread BevSykes

I could use some help.

I am designing a web site for my former boss, who
would like to include a brief (~20 sec) video on the page.

This is the page: http://pelvicsupport-aesthetics.com/urinary

I have used 3ivx encoding and my boss is unable to
get the movie to play for him on two different computers that he has
tried. What is my best bet for processing this movie so that it can be
seen by the maximum number of people? I would ideally like to have it play
imbedded in the page itself, but the site is hosted by yahoo, which does not
allow for uploading of movies, so the movie is hosted on Blip.

(IF you respond to this message, could you respond
to me personally as well as to the group, please? I have had videoblogging
turned off and just now turned it back on, but yahoogroups doesn't always begin
sending emails immediatelyand I'd hate to lose a response.
Thanks!)

3ivx should work if you do single pass instead of dual
pass. Verdi isthe compression guru, but we followed a PDF he put out
and use 3ivxfor all our videos. We've found that the quality is
better and thefile size is actually smaller than standard MPEG-4.

Thanks for the comments, Richard. I've found

bigger files than QuickTime, at least what I've compressed so far)

says that it's doesn't contain links to the URLs of the movies. I'm not
quite sure how you do that. When I to go Feedburner to create an RSS feed,
it says there appears to be no "style" associated with the link and I don't know
what that means either. Can anybody enlighten me?

[videoblogging] Videoblogging for Beginners

2005-09-20 Thread BevSykes

I've been chatting with a couple of rank beginners,
like myself, who, while we find this group interesting, also find that most of
the time we are in wy over our heads. I know that I've suggested
before a spin-off group for beginners like us, so I've just started one.
If there are any other floundering newbies on this list, check out:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Vblog/

(of course there's nothing to check out yet--I just
started it). My statement for the group is:

"There is an excellent discussion group for
videoblogging. But it's designed for people who know what they're doing. This
group is for those of us who are just starting out, who are still struggling
with what exactly IS an RSS feed anyway? It's still good to join the other group
for to learn at the feet of the experts, but for those of us who can't
understand 90% of the content, this is the group for us!"

I will be curious to know who (if anybody) decides
to join this group!

Re: [videoblogging] What's the True Potential of the Videoblogging Community???

2005-09-05 Thread BevSykes

This whole disaster has demonstrated once again how worthless the
mainstream media is.Things were so bad on the ground in NO that even FOX
news reporters were calling bullshit on the scumfucks like bill oreilly and sean
hannity back in the studio trying to put the bullshit Bushco spin on
things.

I found that film clip on the 'net and when I went
back to get the link, it was gone (I don't know if it was deliberate or
accidental). Fortunately, I had downloaded it, so, despite my abhorrance
of people who post copyrighted material, I did post it to YouTube, at http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=597C0KPlb3w.

I am already seeing the spin doctors at work,
praising Bush for "leaping into the situation" and "directing all departments"
to make New Orleanstheir top priority. Very nice, but where was he a
week ago? (Oh--that's right. On vacation and attending fund
raisers. Now I remember.) I have a feeling it is going to be the
vloggers who are going to write the REALhistory of this disaster,
and it is the vloggers who are going to make it impossible to whitewash the Bush
administration's complicity in the death of thousands of people in New Orleans
and other Gulf coast communities.

Re: [videoblogging] How to have a group conversation...was Re: Narrowing Our View Of Video Blogging?

2005-09-01 Thread BevSykes

 I think the
volume of posts here are a problem. My email is virtually
overwhelmed. It will only get worse. I agree that enthusiasm for
vlogging and posting here can be counterproductive. I won't have nearly as
much time after I get my new computer in a few days and have to work at vlogging
rather than just talking about it.

I think this group is probably going to have to
divide itself into diverse threads. For instance, those interested in
Node101 have started a separate group where discussions about Node101 can be
more effectively focused.

I'm wondering about the value of starting a
separate group for beginning vloggers. While I have found much of interest
and learned a lot from this group, the way it has mushroomed in just the short
time I've been a member and the explosion of technical information has buried me
in e-mails, most of which I can't follow at all because they are way beyond my
technical expertise. I'm wondering if there are enough other people in my
boat that a "vloging 101" group might help move some of the traffic off to its
own group and leave the more advanced to have discussions here.

Just a suggestion.

Re: [videoblogging] Katrina Vlogs - Where Are They?

2005-09-01 Thread BevSykes

I am somewhat surprised overt
he lack of Vlog postings, but those onsite are no doubt more concerned about
coming out alive than shooting video .

I was surprised myself until I thought about it and
realized that anybody who is THERE to film probaby has no way of getting to a
computer to get it posted. Or at least, as you point out, that would not
be the top priority.

Re: [videoblogging] QuickTime 7

Thanks for the link to the .pdf file. I have
downloaded it and will read it.

Unfortunately, I can't remember which "option"
button I was looking for. It was while going through the tutorials and
trying to find the QT7 equivalent. I was following instructions from the
help file and it told me to do one thing and then click on the option button,
but when I did that, there was no options button. But I'll pay closer
attention next time.

Thanks again for the pointer to the
file.

QuickTime 7 that:I recently upgraded to QuickTime 7 Pro.
Yesterday I took advantage of the 24 hour "free pass" on Lynda.com and
began to run the Quick Time tutorials (available only for QT5
Pro). The problem I'm having is that by the time QT got to 7,
they'd changed all the commands, or so it seems. I can find some
of them in a different format, but I can't find all. You'd think
that in a more advanced version you would be able to do all of the
things in previous versions. An example is that in QT5 you can
skew a section of your video, but I can find no "adjust" command in
QT7. There are a number of other things described in the help
video that I cannot find in QT7. The help menu for QT7 is not helpful
at all. (For example, in one place, it directs me to the
"options" button, which I cannot find anywhere.Anybody
else using QT7 pro and finding this same difficulty, or am I just
being dense again?some have gone. you can't skew anymore but in QT 7
you can scale, change width/height of a video track (breaking aspect
ratio), flip, rotate and so on. In QT 5 (and i think 6) you could also
drag it around the movie window to place a smaller video. Now you use the
offset numbers - what you lose in free form work you gain in pixel
accuracy.the options button you mention. which options you looking
for? Most of the stuff is still there (i can only assume skew got lost
because no one ever used it - I've used QT pro as authoring environment
for 5 years and never used it and still haven't seen any work that used
it, I know doesn't mean isn't useful) so ask away :-)btw there's a
QT 7 manual in pdf which is worth getting. I've got a copy of it

Re: [videoblogging] group breakdown

2005-08-19 Thread BevSykes

Steven, I've spent the past week feeling like I
opened Dorothy's farmhouse door and stepped into Munchkinland...discovering a
world I never knew existed out there. It started with OurMedia and one
thing led to the next, which led to this group and finding so many interesting
people and things and ways of looking at vlogging.

I put myself in your position--just in it for the
fun of it, not expecting to create anything monumental, mostly blog-type stuff,
things to augment what I write in my daily journal, etc. At 62, I'm not
likely to get really very technical or do anything that would be of interest to
most of the vloggers I see here, but learning all this stuff is fun for me and
who knows where it will go...?

I'm curious about demographics. It seems like
the vast majority of the vloggers I've come across have been young (to me)
males. I'm curious about how many women are getting into this--and if
there is anybody past the age of 50 who is finding this as intriguing as I
do.

Anyone like to share what they
  expect from VideoBlogging.

I’m quite new to this group, but
I’ve noticed a group who are very into films, programmes and a professional
level of some very good personal video creation.

I also see some (like myself) who
are just in it to record what they feel like and don’t worry *too* much about the quality (not the
content quality, the quality of the picture, compression and so on). Anyone
  want to comment?

  For example, I don’t see what I
know becoming anything more formal that some video version of my blog. I see
something. I will record a few minutes blog it and maybe add some
  comment.
