Landmark Media is thinking of attending mid winter ALA in January (who wouldn't
want to get out of Chicago in January?). Would love to know from all of you
who usually attends in the way of media exhibitors and buyers. We know it is
not as heavily attended as mid summer but can
Because there are few programs, the exhibits are the big draw when
attendees are not in business meetings. And many sections are meeting
virtually for Midwinter so it is possible that those of us going will
have even more time to visit the exhibits.

I think I can do it in two sentences.

I didn't realize it was in Chicago. Well, my question then is, why shouldn't I
be there? The ALA is only 3 blocks away from my office. Maybe I'll see some
Video libbers there! Would love to see some other media libarians.

Dear Collected minds,
Our photography faculty member is asking me to replace the Great Photographers
Series on VHS with DVD. The series were published by Media Loft. I found a
website with this name. But it does not have a catalog of DVDs and they did not

I agree that it is pretty clear. I would just lift some text from the law.
That way you'll get the text about face-to-face teaching activities of a
non-profit educational institution without adding criteria that are not
explicitly in the law. You may need to reword what it says about where
Uh, I was planning to attend it in San Diego. Since when was it moved to
Chicago or have I completely misunderstood this threat? It's been that
kind of day---off to a late start and then victimized by the health
insurance industry once again. Don't get me started!

Yes. In my previous position as a media selector for a large library
district (a job I left 6 mos. ago) one of the primary searches I used to
locate media was the UPC number. ISBN's for media were not reliable and
oftentimes not even listed on the vendor sites.

Randy,
You'll have to check the DVD releases of the smaller distributors. I suspect
for companies that distribute educational titles, ISBN is very prevalent.
For indie distributors such as New Yorker and Zeitgeist and Oscilloscope,
I'm not sure they do. I started adding the optional ISBN numbers
