Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. Sieghard, I took your advice and added Alex to the roder, and somehow that solved the issue, but only because I could change the language using the roder, but still couldn't do it the "old-fashioned way" i.e. by just selecting it like I used to be able to do.

Shermeen, yes, you hold down the home and on and off button for about 6 secs. Then check to see if phone is off by using the mute button. If you switch mute on and back off, if the phone is not off there will be a vibration. If it is off, wait for about 1.5 minutes. Since I believe 9.0 the

This is very odd indeed. Alex has had time to download, as I confirmed he was downloaded, and then deleted and downloaded him again. But it's not just him. I can't seem to use anyone else, either. A hard reset is when you hold down home and lock simultaneously for goodness knows how long and then

Shermeen, did Alex download? Have you done a hard reset of the phone to clear off the memory junk? When I changed the voice a hard re-boot helped. Ended up going back to Samantha, though. If this does not help, I am still a tech toddler so the experts here will have to help! [LOL) reggie &

Hi all, I have upgraded to 9.3, and cannot for the life of me select a voice other than either the default or enhanced Samantha. I tried choosing alex, and even deleted and reinstalled it, tried turning vo off with the triple home click, but no matter which voice I choose, I always get either
