RE: Mysterious ringtone problem
Hi Jenny, Well, I guess there must indeed be something wrong with this ringtone. I can import it into my Tones library just fine and it plays just fine, but when I check it to sync it to my phone it doesn't seem to show up. If I look at On this iPhone from inside iTunes and check my tones it also shows up there, but it says copying in front of the name. It's almost like it's still copying, but the iTunes sync finishes and it's just not working. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe try to redownload it. I'd rename your existing file and after you download it again check the exact size and see if it's the same as there is always a chance something got corrupted during the download. Re: Question concerning NFL Audio Pass
Cheryl, I didn't mention the name as I looked awhile back when this thread first started and couldn't seem to find the app in the app store so I believe it may have been removed but it still works, it is called Pro football radio, yes, generic and a search will pull up a ton of apps, but not the one I have. My wifi connection is fine but I still notice major delays when listening to games on this app as well as on MLB At Bat. Additionally I am in NYC so not in the middle of nowhere where wifi might be slow, not sure why I always have such a delay and this has been the case on my 3GS, 4S, and now the 5S. Thanks for the info. On Aug 19, 2014, at 1:38 PM, Cheryl Homiak cah4...@icloud.com wrote: You don't mention the name of the app you are using. There is a delay but there shouldn't be that much of a delay unless something is slow in your area or with your network. Usually with MLB I get the notification of the play at the same time it happens or not more than 30 seconds before. But maybe there are a lot of variables that determine this. -- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! Has anyone compared the NFL audio pass feeds to the T.V. and is there a delay? I assume there is as MLB At Bat which I subscribe to also has a significant delay, it must just be streaming audio has a delay. Was curious about this? Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear
Hi Rob, that's why I recommend the OtterBox commuter series I do not have this problem at all. I'm able to touch the top of the phone and it's able to stay off the speaker for a brief amount of time. Yeah I was there to make a button to but unfortunately they don't have one. There is one, but I don't know how well it works when you hit it. You pretty much have to hide the keypad in Waterford to work. I've had cases where once in speaker mode, it wouldn't shut up at all and a full bus heard everything. Hi Christina, I did not think that was the case. Pretty much what they're saying is if you lock the screen I guess while the phone is in headset mode it won't go to speakerphone I will have to try this and see. I also think that also hangs up a call if you don't have a headset plugged name because I know I'm able to do it while using in the my Bluetooth headset war my Apple EarPods. Re: Rhapsody Or Spotify, Opinions?
I am not sure. I never use the online version of Slacker. The last time I tried Slacker Radio on my mac it was not accessible. It's probably flash based. I believe Slacker's policy is that you can only download to one device due to licensing agreements. However, I do not personally have need to download to my computer since it's always connected to our home WIFI. I do appreciate the option on my iPhone though, since sometimes I cannot get a good signal. :) Christina On Aug 20, 2014, at 11:05 AM, Hank Smith, and Seeing-eye dog Iona hank.smith...@gmail.com wrote: can you download for off line listening on computer or is it just mobile devices? My husband used spotify and prefers slacker Radio but I have never used Spotify personally. In both Spotify and Slacker Radio you can create a station based on an artist like in Pandora. My husband felt that Slacker did a better job of this. Plus in Slacker you can customize your artist created stations with sliders of different options. For example, Lets say, you create a station based on Maroon 5. Under the related artist tab you can fine tune the slider from zero percent to 100%. If you choose zero percent, then that station will only play Maroon 5 songs. If you choose all the way to 100% then Slacker will play many more artists similar to Maroon 5. :) Slacker has 3 subscription options. from free all the way to $9.99 a month. The premium version allows for songs and albums on demand. You can also make playlists and download them to your iPhone. You can also download albums to your iPhone as well for offline listening. Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear
One other way around this would be to use a Bluetooth ear peace that would route all audio through the ear peace. The Plantronics Bluetooth Legend is what I use because it's hands free and my iPhone 5s can stay in my pocket. The ear peace when a call comes in will announce the callers name assuming during setup you authorized permission for the legend to access your contacts, will say the callers name followed by the 2 choices you have. Answer or Ignore? Just say answer and the ear peace replies with answering call and puts the caller through. No fooling around or annoying switching back and fourth. And if you need to have the phone in your hand, with the screen curtain turned on, not only can't people see the screen, they can't hear the audio either. Regards, Alan Go Chicago Bears in 2014! I'm sure you're using dictation and Siry is making a right pigs ear of it. I think this is maybe what is confusing a few of us. In short, there's no real command to disable the feature? Every other device I had, made you click a button as a positive assertion you wanted that feature. I hate digital assumptions, and more so when they rule supreme and don't give you a choice in the matter. Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear
There is one way of getting it to work. Note this might be difficult for those with small hands. I just tested it. While in a call and you need to pull the phone way, slide your thumb over the ear piece as you are pulling the phone away and it will keep it from changing to speaker phone. - Original Message - From: Joseph Hudson jhud7...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2014 12:35 PM Subject: Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear Hi Christina, I did not think that was the case. Has anyone compared the NFL audio pass feeds to the T.V. and is there a delay? Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear
Interesting, I just tried it, and for sure it ended the call, and the phone ended up locked; I suppose the latter is a statement of the obvious. So you have to do all the unlock thing again to get back to the phone app. So now we know why we still use the 2finger double tap and/or feel for the End button in the bottom left corner. We're getting there, just need to work out a consistent way of stopping speaker mode without verbal or tactile gymnastix. - Original Message - From: Robert Doc Wright yeshua.talmi...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2014 9:02 PM Subject: Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear How do you lock the phone after making a call? Re: A question about how not to have your iPhone switch to speaker phone when you take it away from your ear
We just tried this, it kills the call. Getting confused now. How do we get out of speaker mode? apart from putting it back to your ear, which doesn't always work. Re: How do you get voice over to read the keypad buttons when you have the phone to your ear when making a call
First of all, if the phone is up to your ear and the speaker has not been engaged, you don't need to hear what's on the screen to end the call; you can just press the power button. Secondly, if you really must not engage the speaker by pulling the phone away from your ear and you have to enter extensions, etc., the best thing would be to use some type of earphone or headphones. I use a single bluetooth earpiece but there is plenty of variety to explore depending on your needs. Thirdly, you should be aware that at times when you are in call, the screen may show buttons for mute, keypad, etc. and you may have to double tap the keypad button to bring the keypad back up. You really don't want to be doing this while trying to maintain the phone to your ear anyway and again, an earphone szstem would be the best way to handle this. Finally, while I don't have time to check the information and outline this now, it is possible to edit phone numbers and put in commas to allow for an apropriate pause after the number connects and then dial the extension if this is a phone number where you always have to enter the same extension number; this will also work with keypresses other than extension numbers. Googling and/or looking through the archives should get this information for you. -- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! And now, every day: This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. RE: Rhapsody Or Spotify, Opinions?
Hi Christine, According to some review I read, Spotify has more songs. Here is an excerpt from one review which was done on May 23 last year and others seem to agree with these numbers: At the current time Spotify advertises having over 20 millions songs while Rhapsody has over 16 million. This is more music than you will ever listen to and both libraries are continually growing. It’s likely that you’ll find songs missing from both, but both products allow you to add your own music to the library. I don’t know how available Rhapsody is in Europe, but Spotify is big there and they are now just starting to offer service in Canada as well. Due to our copyright laws here music services here have been pretty limited, neither Rhapsody nor Pandora are available here and so far neither is iTunes Radio. As I said, Spotify is now just starting up. We did have Rdio and Slacker before and also Beezar but those are less popular. RE: A Question for iPod Nanno 7th Generation Owners
Hi Mark, If you set Time on Wake to On, the iPod Nano (sixth and seventh generation) is supposed to display the clock after you wake it up rather than to show the music player with what was last playing. Take care, Sieghard -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of M. Question: What does the General Settings option called Time on Wake, do? Toggling this setting does not appear to make any difference anywhere or in any way, so far as I can tell. Re: Rhapsody Or Spotify, Opinions?
I didn't know you could add your own music to Spotify! I definitely need to find out how to do this! If anyone has ifnromation, please share! Thanks. Sharonda On 8/20/14, Sieghard Weitzel siegh...@live.ca wrote: Hi Christine, According to some review I read, Spotify has more songs. Here is an excerpt from one review which was done on May 23 last year and others seem to agree with these numbers: At the current time Spotify advertises having over 20 millions songs while Rhapsody has over 16 million. This is more music than you will ever listen to and both libraries are continually growing. It's likely that you'll find songs missing from both, but both products allow you to add your own music to the library. I don't know how available Rhapsody is in Europe, but Spotify is big there and they are now just starting to offer service in Canada as well. Due to our copyright laws here music services here have been pretty limited, neither Rhapsody nor Pandora are available here and so far neither is iTunes Radio. As I said, Spotify is now just starting up. We did have Rdio and Slacker before and also Beezar but those are less popular. Re: How do you get voice over to read the keypad buttons when you have the phone to your ear when making a call
I have some little motorola hx550 single bluetooth earphones that have several options for how you have them on or in your ear. This doesn't work for everyone but I can comfortably hang one on an ear without having a bud in my ear or anything and it can be quickly opened and positioned and taken off my ear and closed. So I don't consider it inconvenient. These are old earphones so I'm not necessarily thinking people would flock to get them but they work so well for me that I just keep using them. They can be paired and connected to two phones at a time but I find this doesn't work quite as well for me. My point isn't about my particular choice of earphone; I'm sure there are plenty of solutions like that out there that don't isolate you from or muffle your environment significantly while using them and aren't bulky or time-consuming to connect and disconnect. Could I humbly and politely ask that some people consider shortening their signatures
I know, I am not the moderator. Not even close. And I know I could skip the long signatures. But I really can't if I want to read the string of messages as they are connected to each other. It just takes more time to wade through many lines of text I don't need to hear. For those of us who get hundreds of messages per day, spending time reading through each long signature is simply slowing down the number of messages I can respond to. Remember, I am asking politely, and not because of anything the signature says. So consider this just a request from a very busy person. RE: ringtone problem fixed
Hello Sieghard, I'm not Tom but what I was going to do for her, yet Tom beat me to it, was to simply import the ringtone into a sound editor such as Garage Band or, in my case, Gold Wave. Then, simply resave the file as an AAC / ringtone file. I'm guessing that is what he did. I am looking forward to his reply.
