Re: Fopydo scanning stand with book attachment

2015-12-21 Thread Richard Turner

Hi Mary,
It does surprisingly well with the curviture of the spine. Nothing perfect, but
better than I expected.
Make sure that the stand legs are inserted into the base.
And, make sure the way the stand is setup that the microsuction tape strip is
on the top. that does help the phone not to slide.
HTH,
Richard

2015-12-21 Thread Brian Albriton
I've had the first issue for sure, being knocked in to the status line.
I've also noticed that my Bluetooth braille display, still shows the
screen I've exited when browsing safari. In other words, I'll press
the home command and the sfari screen still shows abd us ecgied bt
voiceover. I have to do the Bluetooth back button command to update
the screen. It doesn't make the phone unusable but it is pretty
irritating.

If you got the book reading aid through the kickstarter, it should have come
with a stand without those microsuction tabs on the legs.
Yes, those tabs are really hard to take off, and even harder to put back on.

I have used it with the touch, but I mostly use the phone for scanning.
No, it isn't very sticky, but it does provide a little traction. If one wasn't
careful, you probably could knock the phone off.

Re: IOS 9..2 Issues

2015-12-21 Thread Tom Lange
Hi. I've definitely had the focus loss issue where focus gets placed on the
status bar. When that happens I have to go into Control Center, then press the
Home button to return focus to wherever I was. I'll definitely have to report
that to Apple Accessibility.

Re: Fopydo scanning stand with book attachment

2015-12-21 Thread Mary Otten
I suspect the stand is going to work. I was just curious about using it with
the touch. Since the touch is a little smaller than a 6S and certainly smaller
than a 6S plus. It seems like it might be a good fit.

Re: Ibod shuffle, is this what i need?

2015-12-21 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
I didn't follow this whole thread about Apple TV, Air Express etc
but I see no reason why to use it just because Voice Over speaks.
If you need to play music over the big speakers, no matter is it
wired or wireless connection you simply can start playback and
disable Voice Over completely with tripple click Home or just mute
the speech with three finger double tap. After you finished with
listening just re-enable Voice Over with the same shortcut or if you
just muted the speech, double tap again with three fingers.
And about the iPod Shuffle. If you listen to the music on it with no
interfering you don't hear Voice Over and you can even advance or
skip tracks with no speech feedback. But, it has only 2 gigs of
storage and it's not what I'd called the luckiest solution for home
listening. It's more than nice to carry around but I'd prefer
something with more storage for usage at home. And, it can only be
connected via cable, it has no wireless connectivity.

Hi,
You can't get the attachment until he has filled all the KickStarter orders,
then he will make it available to the rest of the world and it will be on his

Make sure that the stand legs are inserted into the base.
And, make sure the way the stand is setup that the microsuction tape strip is on the top. that does help the phone not to slide.

No way to flatten that curvature here. Hence my question.

2015-12-21 Thread Mary Otten
The Book attachment was a kick starter project. That is over. You could, for
around $40, get the stand including the book reader attachment through this
kick starter. I believe the gentleman who makes these plans to make that
available on his website, or maybe on Amazon at some point. But apparently that
has not happened yet I assume everyone who ordered it through the kick starter
has received theirs by now.

Re: Hulu Update For Apple TV 4th Gen

2015-12-21 Thread Lisa Belville
The last version I have is 4.50 released on August 26. This is the one
where they claimed to fix VO issues. The latest one in the app store is
4.71 and was released on December 16. I stopped upgrading after the 4.50
update because I really couldn't tell any difference in VO functionality.
Nothing is as good as it was back in 2014.

I haven't even looked, but what version is Hulu up to on IOS? I am using
version 4.6.5 and because the VoiceOver accessibility is so great, I won't
update that particular app until I have no other choice. I am running this
version on IOS 9.2

I stand corrected. The iPhone app is excruciatingly painful to navigate with
the latest update. It was fine a few updates ago. Ugh. At least it works on
the apple TV now, so I don’t have to use the phone any more.

Hmm, have you started using Hulu recently? I originally signed up in 2014

just typing in shows I watch into the search field, but this is a bit
cumbersome.

2015-12-21 Thread Kimberly
I have seen a bit of choppiness though I am using Samantha with the compact
voice. It seems to occur just after I switch screens like when an email first
opens. There's a very brief hesitation before VO starts speaking again. It's
not a show stopper, but I never noticed it before this last update.

Re: Reviving a Dead Touch

2015-12-21 Thread Aleeha Dudley
You might try telling Siri to turn voiceover off. Then once it does that, tell
it to turn VO back on. Otherwise, try pressing the home button to wake the
device, swiping up with two fingers, then repeatedly pressing the volume up
button to try to get speech back.
If all else fails, you can turn off find my iPod from iCloud.com.

Re: Fopydo scanning stand with book attachment

2015-12-21 Thread Anne Robertson
Oh, if only the US postal service were that good! My Fopydo stand with
bookreading attachment has been bouncing around the Chicago area for almost two
weeks and only departed the US, hopefully for France, yesterday. It seems that
someone couldn’t tell the difference between Yorkville and Orry la Ville,
France! It isn’t Tomek’s fault and he’s been really helpful with this problem.

I’m looking forward to getting my Fopydo but I doubt it will arrive this side
of Christmas.

Cheers,

Reviving a Dead Touch

2015-12-21 Thread SSEric
I have a Touch 5 32gb. Has worked just fine for a couple of years. Last
night I charged it overnight. I used it for an hour or so this morning to
read NFB NewsLine. It sat unplugged and untouched until about 9:30 this
evening. It was paired with a bluetooth speaker I use quite a bit.

When I tried turning it on, I got a buzzing sound. Sort of a lower pitch
burned out florescent tube sound. I had someone view the screen and it was
black. Swiping would not do anything; no voiceover at all. I did get the
buzzing to stop by pressing the power button about 10 times. Seri was
working and voiceover was on, but would not speak and swiping the screen,
pressing volume buttons powering to sleep and awake did not emit any sounds.
I did have Seri play music which I could hear. I did try plugging in earbuds
and could hear the music but could not get anything from touching the
screen.

In my efforts to do anything, I must have turned the thing completely off
because Seri will no longer even work. It was recognized when connected to
iTunes through my PC. I tried resetting, but it said I had to turn off Find
My iPhone in iCloud first. Real helpful. I synchronized things, so it was
being seen, but there still is no sound coming from it and the screen
remains blank.

I should mention I also plugged in the power cord. I could hear the tones
when connecting, but that was the only sound I could get.

Is this thing a brick? Is there anything more I can try? I have never had a
problem with it and do use it all day long nearly every day for reading,
BARD or streaming.

Any ideas will be most appreciated!

RE: Fopydo scanning stand with book attachment

2015-12-21 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Gordan and all,

I just found my note from Tomek, the maker of the Fopydo stand and Book Reading
Aid.

Once he is able to make it available to anyone who wants it, he said “The price
for the book reading aid will be $35 plus shipping and the stand is included.”

So, stay tuned.

Hi!
I just visited he www.fopydo.com and only found two
stands there. The one is for visually impaired and the other for the rest of
the world. Neither has book attachment and there's no word about it there.
Where can I get the attachment, with or without the stand?
Thanks!

No, it isn't very sticky, but it does provide a little traction. If one wasn't

Make sure that the stand legs are inserted into the base.
And, make sure the way the stand is setup that the microsuction tape strip is

That is going to be interesting, given the spine problems that you have if for

pressed down flat against the glass. No way to flatten that curvature here.
Hence my question.

Re: Reviving a Dead Touch

2015-12-21 Thread christopher hallsworth
Please try the following steps.
Assuming the USB cable is still connected to both iPod and computer:

1. Press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons for at least ten seconds.

2. After that time, release the sleep/wake button and keep the home button held
down until iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode. Release the home button.

3. Once iTunes detects the iPod in recovery mode, click the restore button.

Good luck.

Question about reading email on Apple watch with VoiceOver

2015-12-21 Thread Shai
Hello,
Today when reading an email on the Apple watch, the message had a
phone number in it. Similar to IOS, VoiceOver announced the number as
a link; however, VoiceOver just scrolled passed it and I could not
find the number again to double tap and interact with it.
At the moment I have been reading an email by flicking right past the
to and from fields and flicking right again until I hear the text of
the message. Although I am aware that one could read messages on a
computer or IOS device, I was wondering whether there is a VoiceOver
rotor on the Apple watch or some other means of message reading that I
may not be aware of? If the former, how does one envoke this?
Thank you in advance for any responses

Re: Hulu Update For Apple TV 4th Gen

2015-12-21 Thread MamaPeach
I haven't even looked, but what version is Hulu up to on IOS? I am using
version 4.6.5 and because the VoiceOver accessibility is so great, I won't
update that particular app until I have no other choice. I am running this
version on IOS 9.2

I stand corrected. The iPhone app is excruciatingly painful to navigate with
the latest update. It was fine a few updates ago. Ugh. At least it works on
the apple TV now, so I don’t have to use the phone any more.

Hmm, have you started using Hulu recently? I originally signed up in 2014
and it was much easier to use back then. Now I have trouble keeping VO
focused on anything especially in the shows you watch tab. I resorted to
just typing in shows I watch into the search field, but this is a bit
cumbersome.

I don’t find it difficult to navigate on the iPhone at all.

Does anyone know if this update also fixes the iPhone app? I closed my

Update for Hulu on Apple TV 4th gen has fixed accessibility with
VoiceOver.

Re: IOS 9..2 Issues

2015-12-21 Thread Dr. Harshit Jaithwar
Hi, even after disabling always speak notifications, many notifications
Voice Over speaks everything after updating to 9.2, unlike previous ios
versions in which it only speaks number of notifications like one or two
notifications.
