Hi all
I would like to ask you which Internet banking app in the UK is user friendly
and accessible for iOS users? Which you could recommend?

Hi!
I heard Jambox some time ago and I didn't like its sound. Some time
after that I was visiting www.speeddots.com to inform about the
tactile screen protectors. They had at the time some other portable
speaker, i can't remember the name right now which sounded far
better than Jambox in their podcast.
Try to visit the site and check out is it still available.

Re: siri dictation ulternitive?

2016-07-06 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
I wouldn't know about English but dictating in Croatian could be
better. I'll try some tips suggested bellow but, from my experience
Google Voice Input works far better for my language than Siri
Dictation.
Besides, it's not just the matter of understanding dictated speech,
it is also about he size and complexity of used dictionary. If the
dictation doesn't have some words and phrases in there it can't type
it down and my opinion is Google did a better job with it.
On the other hand when I dictate in my iPhone I can dictate
punctuation and it is displayed as punctuation. When using Google
Voice this is still not supported for my mothertongue so...
It is best to try it out for yourself.

RE: siri dictation ulternitive?

2016-07-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I assume you are talking about dictating in English? I am just curious as to
whether you are a native English speaker and if so, are you from the US or from
England or another country? If from the States, doo you have a strong dialect?
I personally find dictation for the most part works quite well, but I did
notice that results are almost always slightly worse if you use a Bluetooth
headset. It works best with just the phone or with the Earpods.

I just did a test in the messages app. The first couple tries, the first letter
did not speak the word.
But, as I went back and forth, sometimes it spoke the word on the first letter
and sometimes it did not.
So, this is a bug, at least so far as it is inconsistent.

the live game is on I can't figure out how to go about listening to it. All I
am hearing is the interviews with the various people but not the actual live
game. Thanks.

I think I found a really weird VO bug.

2016-07-06 Thread englishrider91
I was typing a text message to my husband, and I believed I had mistyped the
first letter in the text field, so went back to check, using the characters
function of the rotor, and VoiceOver did not give me the military term for the
letter. I forget what the name for this is, but the letter I typed was V, and I
did not hear the word Victor, as I expected. I just got VoiceOver saying the
letter. I turned off VoiceOver, and turned it back on again, then tried doing
this again in the messages text field, and the same thing happened. I even
tried opening notes and doing it there, and got the same results. But when I
typed in the to field for this email, I got the expected behavior of VoiceOver
announcing the word after the letter. I'm going to see if the same thing
happens with the subject and body of this email.

Everything worked as expected when I checked the subject and body fields of the
email, so I'm not sure what's going on. Can others test for this, particularly
in The messages and notes apps, and report back?

 Hey guys,

I thought i would throw this out there to get some input. Someone
asked me the other day. Does anyone know on this list of anyone
who is blind working for apple? I've actually been asked that
question many times and it would be interesting to hear of anyone
who has or is working there, especially from an accessibility perspective.

said new password was wrong. Tried it everywhere else and it's still working
fine but spotify kept sending me to a page to rechan forassword. I uninstalled
spotify plus all relevant data on mz braillenote and it logged in fine next
time. However uninstabbling spotify on my phone did not bring the same result.
Is there something else I need to do? Please help.

Re: siri dictation ulternitive?

2016-07-06 Thread englishrider91
Before you go looking for alternatives, I'd like to point out something that
you might not know about. I don't know how far this goes back in the
generations of iPhones, but since I got my new 6S, i've noticed that I get much
better dictation results when I talk near the earpiece part of the iPhone,
rather than the bottom, near the speaker, like I used to do with my old iPhone
4S. Since then, my dictation has improved beyond all recognition. I remember
hearing somewhere that the microphone placement had changed. I think it was in
a podcast by a guy named Neil, who was testing all the different iPhone Mike's
with and without the processing that Apple puts on them. Anyway, just thought
I'd let you know about my discovery.

Thanks,
Ari

I also had this issue with helping a client set up family sharing. I found that
if you find the link on the bottom of the screen, and then double tap and hold

the Braille Monitor later this year. They often reprint convention
speeches and presentations.

Hey guys,

I thought i would throw this out there to get some input. Someone
asked me the other day. Does anyone know on this list of anyone who
is blind working for apple? I've actually been asked that question
many times and it would be interesting to hear of anyone who has or
is working there, especially from an accessibility perspective.

2016-07-06 Thread Wayne Merritt
According to an AppleVis podcast, the app will be free through the end
of the year. I used it to see what my thermostat was set to, which is
not always easy to tell, even for my sighted wife. I sent off my
recorded question, and all three responses came back with an accurate
answer. MY wife said that we might use BeSpecular from now on, grin.

Re: A Word of Caution Ab Family Sharing

2016-07-06 Thread Kimber Gardner
I had a similar problem with the continue button when I was trying to set up
family sharing. I too called apple accessibility and got the problem solved
only by clicking on sign in with another Apple ID. The funny thing is, after
clicking that link, I signed in with the same user id and everything worked.

In a similar incident, I was ordering a phone of or my husband and was unable
to click the button to accept the terms and conditions that was essential to
completing the order. I had to sign onto apple with my laptop to click the
button.

working forapple

2016-07-06 Thread Jed Barton

Hey guys,

I thought i would throw this out there to get some input. Someone asked
me the other day. Does anyone know on this list of anyone who is blind
working for apple? I've actually been asked that question many times
and it would be interesting to hear of anyone who has or is working
there, especially from an accessibility perspective.
