RE: Something wrong with Apple Watch and iPhone

2018-05-20 Thread Michael G McKay
Hi! Tom:

I would say that you might wish to check to find out if your iPhone, and Apple
watch are paired. If they are not synchronized correctly, then you may need to
re-pair the iPhone, and Apple Watch once again. Also, my tip concerning the
apple watch would be, always place your apple watch on charge each
evening/night before you go to bed, that way you will be able to keep it
powered up, and working properly.

Hope this helps.

Good evening,
I am not sure what happened, but my apple watch is no longer in sync with my
iPhone. I accidently left it without charging for several days and when I
returned and was able to charge it, it must have somehow gotten reset or
something. It no longer knows who I am via Siri, and my text messages come
through but it's as if the contacts aren't synced because I get phone numbers
instead of names. What might have happened and how can I get it back to be in
sync with my phone and contacts?
Tom

Here's the description from the App Store:

You can also purchase an additional playback capability as an

RE: Phone settings for the 8 Plus

2018-05-20 Thread Bill Outman
I got the raise to wake turned off just now, I believe.

I vaguely remembered the practice area, but thanks for reminding me of it. I
have four years of experience with iPhones, having been a veteran of the 5S.

Another list member addressed the sensitivity problem; I don’t think the zomm
she talked about would apply to me as a total.

I hope this change will take care of the principal issue, though.

I am being prompted to finish setting up my iPhone, and I’m not sure what it’s
asking for exactly. I had found four years ago when I bought the last phone
that I assumed the A. T. & T. store had registered it with Apple and only found
later they hadn’t. I suppose that could be an issue but I also nknow I have
more features available now than the 5S hardware allowed even though they were
showing up in the operating system.

Hello Bill,

Go to Settings, and choose Display & Brightness. One of the options on that
screen is Raise to Wake. If you turn it off, your phone won't talk when you
move it around if the screen is locked.

As for making gestures you don't intend, I would suggest going to Settings,
choosing General, then Accessibility, then VoiceOver. On that screen is an
option called VoiceOver Practice. If you double-tap that, you open a screen
where you can try out the various gestures. VoiceOver will tell you which
gesture it thinks you performed and what that gesture does. Once you get
familiar with the gestures, you're less likely to perform ones you didn't
intend. there's a done button in the upper right corner of the screen that you
can use to stop practicing.

I hope that helps.

Best,

Anna

Also, the touch seems very sensitive to the slightest tap, for instance, when I

What do I need to adjust, and where do I find those settings.

The three finger double tap does not unload VoiceOver, it just turns off
speech, but you still would have to use the gestures of VoiceOver like double
tapping to activate something.
If you ever need to unload VoiceOver, just tell Siri to "turn off VoiceOver"
and when you want it back, just tell Siri "turn on VoiceOver."

Re: List Dropdown Buttons, Update

2018-05-20 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Most drop down menus work as they are supposed to now, with a picker item list
appearing when you double tap that button. But try this if it doesn't. After
double tapping the button and it doesn't work, quickly single tap near the
lower right hand corner of the screen. If it works, The picker item list
should appear. You want to single tap slightly above the very bottom of the
corner. It is more or less where the music icon would be in the doc. If you
miss it, you will have to double tap the button to attempt to start the process
over again, then try it again. This is the work around I discovered in one of
the updates several years ago when the drop down list button really had
problems. I rarely have to use it now.

Hi
I received an email today too from Audible informing me that one of my books in

RE: List Dropdown Buttons, Update

2018-05-20 Thread Richard Turner
Mike,
Is there a particular app that is causing you issues?

I’ve used a lot of apps and/or web sites that have combo boxes, etc., and they
work fine.

You may need to see if once you are focused on that box if you turn the rotor
and find the adjust value option, then you can flick up or down with one finger
to make your selections.

It somewhat depends on how the app developer set it up.

Hi All,

I'm running iOS 11.3 latest on an SE phone. How do I open and make
selections / navigate List Dropdown Boxes? I need to make a selection from
one of these, but can't seem to get it open to make my choice. All help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks mooy moocho.
Take care.

Re: List Dropdown Buttons, Update

2018-05-20 Thread Mike B.
Hi Arnold,

Thank you for your input, and I'll try your way in a little bit, but here's
my work around for now. If I single finger double tap the Site list
dropdown button nothing happens per say, but if I go to the bottom right
hand corner of the screen it says, Messages, and this is as far as you can
go, supposedly! LOL Well, with Messages in focus I swiped to the left,
then swiped to the right, and it's like I go to another page, but there it
is, the label for the other house, so I single finger double tap it, and the
other house is now selected. Thanks again.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Most drop down menus work as they are supposed to now, with a picker item
list appearing when you double tap that button. But try this if it doesn't.
After double tapping the button and it doesn't work, quickly single tap near
the lower right hand corner of the screen. If it works, The picker item
list should appear. You want to single tap slightly above the very bottom
of the corner. It is more or less where the music icon would be in the doc.
If you miss it, you will have to double tap the button to attempt to start
the process over again, then try it again. This is the work around I
discovered in one of the updates several years ago when the drop down list
button really had problems. I rarely have to use it now.

Question for those trying to access the latest Audible sale on your iPhone

2018-05-20 Thread Mary Otten
I got an email today advertising an audible sale which is good through the
24th, two books for one credit. I have access these before on my phone. But
when I double tapped on the provided link, Safari open, and I kept getting a
repeated message about the sale. It is as though there is some kind of flashing
something or other at the top of the page which is continually capturing
voiceovers attention, making it impossible to navigate and understand what is
on the page. Is anyone else experiencing this, and is there a workaround?

Mike,

Is there a particular app that is causing you issues?

I’ve used a lot of apps and/or web sites that have combo boxes, etc., and
they work fine.

You may need to see if once you are focused on that box if you turn the
rotor and find the adjust value option, then you can flick up or down with
one finger to make your selections.

It somewhat depends on how the app developer set it up.

Best,

Anna

RE: Question for those trying to access the latest Audible sale on your iPhone

2018-05-20 Thread Kathy Kalaluhi
Hi Mary
I just tried to access the site by clicking on the general link to view all
books for members. When I reached the page after signing in, I got exactly
what you described. Like it is flashing a sign and it kept reading how many
hours left in the sale. I was able to scroll down a page and swiped to see
what would be read to me and it would read a line and then cut off with that
flashing announcement or whatever you want to call it. While swiping however I
did hear "view all books" and I quickly tapped on it before it would read the
flashing announcement again. It took me to the list of books on sale and the
flashing announcement disappeared..thank god. That truly is annoying. All
I can suggest to you is to do as I did. Once you get to the page where it has
the flashing announcement, swipe until you hear view all books being read. I
scrolled down using the three finger up gesture to get to the next page and
then began swiping. As soon as you hear the word, view, double tap. You will
be tapping on that link regardless of what is being read by voice over. That
is if you are quick enough. Next step, call and complain. Lol
Good luck.

Hi Kathy,
When you say it took you to the summary of the book listing, do you mean it
took you to the page that describes the book that was in your wish list? That
is not what I’m looking for. I have one of those links to, because a book in my
list is on sale. But this is a two for one deal. So you have to access the main
page that shows where all the books are in order to find another book.

Re: Question for those trying to access the latest Audible sale on your iPhone

2018-05-20 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Kathy,
When you say it took you to the summary of the book listing, do you mean it
took you to the page that describes the book that was in your wish list? That
is not what I’m looking for. I have one of those links to, because a book in my
list is on sale. But this is a two for one deal. So you have to access the main
page that shows where all the books are in order to find another book.

2018-05-20 Thread Mary Otten
Thanks, Kathy. Now that I know it isn’t just me, yes, I will call and complain
tomorrow. I might also employ cited help in the meantime to get to that view
all books page and then bookmark that temporarily. What an annoyance. They’ve
never done that before. I have bought lots of things on sales with these two
for one deal, and this is the first time I’ve seen this.

Ran Update to 11.31....Having Issues

2018-05-20 Thread Vivian Conger
After updating to this version, I am having several issues.

The expand/minimize speaking bar comes up - how do I turn this off?

Where do I go to turn off needing to use the passcode for unlocking the phone?

Right now I'm very frustrated with my phone and am sorry that I updated it when
everything was working perfectly before.

Sorry for complaining.

Many thanks.

Re: Direct tv now update is not friendly with voice over.

2018-05-20 Thread Lynn White

I have just run into a problem when playing a show. It seems that all of the
controls have disappeared, including going back to the guide. All I’m seeing
is the status bar and nothing else.

I’ve even gone into control center to look for any options. Getting out of the
app and then going back in does not help. Any ideas.

Also, before getting into this situation, I can’t find a channel listing. All
I see is the guide. This is all on the iPhone 7 plus.

Thanks.

RE: ONE PASSWORD

2018-05-20 Thread R Van Lant
I've finally downloaded One Password to get started with it. I just want to
clarify before I go too far down the time investment, will One Password help me
log into apps on my phone or just websites? Most of my apps keep me logged
into whatever service, but I have a couple apps that won't retain my password
and I am getting really annoyed when I have to go look up the password at home
when I really need the app on the go. It's rather ironic, because these apps
that won't keep me logged in are really innocuous services for things like
restaurant coupons.

I'm not sure how you got 1Password working like this, but it doesn't work like
that for me.

Anyhow, are you trying to now add accounts to 1Password now that you've created
your master password? When you unlock the app with your master password, you'll
see an Add New Item button in the top right-hand corner. You can either press
that, then select the category you want to add an item to, or select a category
from the main screen first, then press the Add button once in that category.
Either way, you'll end up in the same area. Decide on an account you want to
add, like Amazon, and fill out the necessary information. The URL item is
really nifty. If you fill that with the URL from the login page that asks for
your username and password, you can then use the Safari extension to fill out
your username and password when visiting a website. You have to enable the
extension (you do that in the share menu of Safari, I think) and once you do,
all you have to do when you're at a login page that you've added an entry to in
1Password, just press share, then choose 1Password, and log into the app either
by using your master password or by pressing the button labeled Touch ID/Face
ID (if you've enabled unlocking via either of those methods--I have, and I
absolutely love it) and then choose your account. If it's not popping up, your
login URL is wrong. You can't choose from all your accounts--just the one
popped up by 1Password--which is why you need to have the login URL correct
before you can do this.

Anyhow, I hope this answers some of your questions. :)

Thanks,
Ari

RE: Ran Update to 11.31....Having Issues

2018-05-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Go to Settings > Touch Id and Passcode to turn off using a passcode. You will
have to enter your passcode in order to get access to the settings in this
section, once you are in you can turn it off.

I am not sure what the "expand/minimize speaking bar" is so somebody else has
to help you with that.If you mean the "speak selection" and "speak screen"
items then you find those in Settings > General > Accessibility > Speech, here
you can check if these two items are turned on or off.

Many thanks.

Thanks Sieghard. I figured the first one out and will check into the second
one.

Sieghard

After updating to this version, I am having several issues.

The expand/minimize speaking bar comes up - how do I turn this off?

Where do I go to turn off needing to use the passcode for unlocking the phone?

Right now I'm very frustrated with my phone and am sorry that I updated it when
everything was working perfectly before.

Sorry for complaining.

Many thanks.

Vivian
