I assume you somehow selected French as a language preference somewhere. I
would log into your account and check or call Apple /accessibility, I’m sure

problems with sharing rides on the uber app

2019-07-29 Thread martin
Hello: recently I tried getting on Uber using the shared ride setting where
you could have up to 2 persons. Before when I used this I was able to
indicate the number of seats needed. This time I didn't find this feature.
When I requested a ride I was instructed to go to a distant corner to meet
the driver. Not being familiar with the area I was not able to find the
location and the driver left. Has there been a change in the uber appp
recently making this more difficult to use?

Thanks for any help.

Open Voice Dream Reader,

then settings on the bottom of the screen.

Then, double tap on User Manual and it will be loaded into your library.

Open it, and double tap on play.

Or, open the user manual, and at the top of the screen, double tap on document,
and select export all text.

You can email it to yourself as a plain text file and open it on another device
so you can read through it and try things out in the app on your phone.

That's certainly not normal behaviour for Voice Dream Reader. I read books
which are ten or more hours long and it only stops when I use the two-finger
double-tap to make it. Does this happen on other documents you've tried to
read? Perhaps, there's some unusual property of the particular document. One
possibility might be if you have the autolock set on your phone. I have mine
set to never and simply lock my screen manually when I'm not using the phone.
Perhaps, a notification is interrupting the reading. I haven't encountered that
myself. In fact, I've had to pause what I'm reading just to properly check and
hear a notification. I hope this issue can be resolved speedily for you. Voice
Dream Reader has well and truly proved its worth for me.

Re: problems with sharing rides on the uber app

2019-07-29 Thread Andy Baracco
No, the same thing happened to me. Apparently the Uber app underwent a big
rewrite. Also, uber offers two kinds of shared ride services. the first is
the regular Uber pool, but they also have something called Pool Express, and if
you are not careful, that is what you get. This service is cheaper than Uber
Pool, but you are expected to walk to the nearest intersection, and you are
generally dropped off at the nearest intersection to your destination, kind of
like riding a bus. I have not been able to figure out how to avoid ending up
with Pool Express. Personally, I have abandoned uber for lyft because their
app is a lot easier to use.

RE: Reccomendations needed for noise-canceling headphones

2019-07-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Richard,

Are you sure they said “Dogahide” and not “Naugahyde”?
PU leather is in fact artificial, the PU stands for polyurethane and
traditionally PU Leather is made from a part of split leather which is usually
left over when premium leather is made and the Polyurethane is then applied to
it.
This is similar to Polyurethane used for protective and clear coatings on
wooden furniture and it certainly won’t be natural leather touching your ears
with these headsets. Yes, some of the more expensive headsets use a very soft
premium leather for their earcups, but whether this is better or worse I can’t
say, but I do wonder if some of the vegans who completely reject any animal
based food because of the ethical concerns with animal husbandry think of this
when buying their premium headset.

Thanks for the recommendation. These look quite good on the Amazon page. Price
is right.

The ear cushions seem to be covered in polyurethane impregnated leather, which
one reviewer described as “dogahide PU leather.” As a dog lover, I was
compelled to go look on the Web for a definition of PU leather and came away
heartened that that PU leather is indeed leather. Now, no barrier for me to
buying these earpieces.

JAWS 19 and Windows 10 issues with focusing

2019-07-29 Thread jeffclark925
Hello All,

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and having some major issues
with JAWS focusing and navigating screens. If the software has a windows
popping up such as the interruption screen when copying a file. The windows
that asks if you want to skip, replace, etc. the file. First JAWS looses focus
on the window, when I ALT+tab to that window, I am unable to use the PC cursor
to navigate the window and must use the JAWS cursor. Sometimes the JAWS cursor
is unable to properly navigate the window.

Please help, thank you,
Jeff

Re: Voice Dream Reader

2019-07-29 Thread Michael Feir
That's certainly not normal behaviour for Voice Dream Reader. I read books
which are ten or more hours long and it only stops when I use the
two-finger double-tap to make it. Does this happen on other documents
you've tried to read? Perhaps, there's some unusual property of the
particular document. One possibility might be if you have the autolock set
on your phone. I have mine set to never and simply lock my screen manually
when I'm not using the phone. Perhaps, a notification is interrupting the
reading. I haven't encountered that myself. In fact, I've had to pause what
I'm reading just to properly check and hear a notification. I hope this
issue can be resolved speedily for you. Voice Dream Reader has well and
truly proved its worth for me.

RE: What is the apple accessibility phone number?

2019-07-29 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chris,

A Google search for "What is the phone number for Apple Accessibility" provided
the following as the first (featured Snippet) result:
Featured snippet from the web
Contact Apple Support
If you have a hearing or vision impairment, call (877) 204-3930 for direct
access to Apple representatives who are trained in providing support using
accessibility services.
Just for your information, searching Google for "What is the phone number
for..." and follow that by whatever company you are looking for or even
specific company division often gets you exactly what you want when you want it.

In my experience, your work around is about as good as it gets.

I hope I'm wrong.

Subject: JAWS 19 and Windows 10 issues with focusing

Please help, thank you,
Jeff

RE: Anyone who uses hearing aids, please read

2019-07-29 Thread Lynda Ingraham
Hi Steve,

If you are still within your trial period, I would seriously look at the Oticon
brand. Another helpful resource may be the state agency that serves blind and
visually impaired people in your state. Even though you may not be eligible for
services, you may be able to find out whether there is a specific audiologist
in your area that has worked with individuals with both a vision and hearing
loss. Having an audiologist that understands the unique issues blind hearing
aid users experience is invalualbe when selecting the right pair of hearing
aids and the subsequent programming of the aids.

Best,

or two companies? I have so appreciate all the understanding and help my

find the form again, and I really, really hope we can meet with this company.
Sounds like they would make some money if they helped us.

Voice
Dream Reader has well and truly proved its worth for me.

you will find different programs requesting your contact information you have

When I went to WhatsApp, it asked for my permission for something and I said no

Making boost in-app purchase in Crafting Kingdom

2019-07-29 Thread Wayne Merritt
All:
I have gotten a coworker turned onto the Crafting Kingdom game from
metal Pop Games. I first installed it several years ago. My coworker
wants to make the in-app purchase to increase the boost length of time
and remove ads. Where would he go to do this? I thought it was in the
Castle but we could not find it earlier when he was showing me. I made
the purchase early when playing the game and don't honestly recall
where I went to do it. Even though the game has not been updated in
quite a while, I still love playing it and completing quests. Crafting
Kingdom and Land of Livia are the two games that I play and check on
daily.

Many thanks,
Wayne

I started using the scanner by grabbing a piece of mail, and seeing what it

For the contacts whose number is showing but not their name, you may need to

include the international code what’sapp won’t be able to read them as the
correct contact. You can definitely save your local contacts without the

Thanks again, Tara.

Actually, most of the names that WhatsApp is not reading now for the couple of
days, have been there for years and years and WhatsApp has been reading them
just fine until a couple of days ago.

The number are saved in international format.

Thanks!

I guess you’ll have to go to settings and then privacy and then contacts where
you will find different programs requesting your contact information you have
to enable WhatsApp. When I say settings it’s the iPhone settings and not the
WhatsApp settings.

Hope that helps

Hi, list.

I have logged out of my iPhone8 this morning and then logged in back in 5
minutes.

When I went to WhatsApp, it asked for my permission for something and I said no
without hearing it.

Now WhatsApp is showing just the phone number of my contacts, not their names.
I want to hear their names, what should I do in order to hear their names,
please?

Thanks!

Re: Voice Dream Reader

2019-07-29 Thread Richard Turner

My basic approach is to read the user manual, especially for Voice Dream Reader.
There are good podcasts on both that have been done by
Applevis.com

Thanks Michael. I am not a Book Share user so that’s not an option.

I will try scanning a piece of mail later today.

Thanks.

I started using the scanner by grabbing a piece of mail, and seeing what it
could do. It was pretty straightforward. If you are a bookshare membered, that
might be a great place to start with voice dream reader.

Good Morning All:

A couple of weeks ago I bought both Voice Dream Reader and Voice Dream Scanner.
I haven’t tried to use either one just yet so am asking what would be a good
starting point?

Many thanks for all suggestions.

Can anyone tell me why it stops reading every 5 plus minutes? I was having it
read a document that was 28 minutes long and it kept stopping and I had to hit
play twice to get it to continue?
