RE: Lightning Port Keyboard

2020-03-05 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I’d try an apple magic keyboard,

You can run them from a computer with a usb to lightening cable,
So I can only assume they might work with a lightening to lightening cable
connecting the board to your phone.

Hi All,

I've been toying with using a lightning port powered keyboard with my SE
iPhone, but it seems that the keyboards I'm finding are mainly geared towards
iPads. I have a blue tooth keyboard, but would like to use the lightning
keyboard when we're on the road, this way I can keep it in the vehicles and not
have to mess with batteries. Does anyone have any recommendations for such a
keyboard? All input will be greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.

Hi Fazil,

Initially Set mail as No Limit to fix email disappeared on your iPhone and
follow the steps below to make it work:
1. Go to Settings > Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars;
2. Tab on your account and look down for Mail Days to Sync;
3. Set it as "No Limit".

Or you can try rebooting your phone and check if the issue is fixed

Else Remove / Logout your email account, reboot the phone and log in again
with your account

Hope this helps

He’s pretty sick right now and we don’t know exactly what’s going on.

We’ll have a round table discussion perhaps talking about our favorite or most

Pizza is $5 and if you want to purchase a drink from Carol and Mike it’s 50

coke, diet coke and coke zero.

Please let me know if you plan to come so I have an accurate count.

God bless!

working. Also learned that if u pay before your autopay due date, you can save
another $5.00. This is just a one time promo. But, as far as I know the
"double data" promo with autopay sill work every month till you change plans or
something like that.

Shirley,

I'd strongly suggest you talk to someone at Verizon at 888-294-6804 to see if
you're getting the best plan at the best price before switching to another
carrier. I have no idea what you've been getting for $245 a month but I'm
assuming that doesn't include any phone purchase obligations or I expect you'd
be unable to switch carriers. I was recently paying $51 a month after tax and
fees for a postpaid plan with 1GB of data with Verizon. I did not have autopay
set up for that plan. When I asked about a Verizon prepaid plan a week ago this
past Saturday, I was told they currently had a promotion to double your data
for a new account. I had to go in and set up a new Verizon online account with
a different user ID but you'll have to do that anyway if you change carriers. I
ended up with a 6GB of data prepaid plan for $43 a month after tax and I also
selected autopay to charge my monthly amount to my credit card which saves me
an extra $5 a month. I'd see if you can get a better deal before changing
carriers.

Because our bill has been $245 and I can't keep paying that and T Mobile
doesn't charge that much.

Re: G5?

2020-03-05 Thread Kelly Pierce
Even if 5G iPhones were available now, carriers are not meaningfully
deploying it yet. In my neighborhood on the north side of Chicago,
construction crews are digging trenches in the street to lay new fiber
optic cable for Verizon for 5G service. Apparently, fiber optic cables
need to be connected to cell towers for the lightning fast data
speeds. My alderman says Verizon should finish this week.

Re: How do I get rid of Bump Bump Braille ?

2020-03-05 Thread Flor Lynch
I got it from the main App Store, not the iMessages App Store (where you get
stickers, etc.), and I couldn’t find it in the iMessages App Store anyway.
When you compose a message it appears in the options in the same row (near
bottom of screen) near Dropbox. Double-tap opens it; and double-tap-and-hold
also selects/opens it.

Yes, I gathered as much aftgerwards, but wasn’t sure whether that proviso
referred to the screenshot of it that may be viewed in iMessages only, or
the thing itself. I myself haven’t heretofore got rid of a sticker pack
either; so I think that would be something maybe good to know or learn how
to do. .

You cannot find it because it is a sticker pack for iMessages, not an app.
In the app store it says:Only on iMessage So, however one would get rid of
a sticker pack, is how you would do that.
I have no idea since I've never tried to deal with a sticker pack.

Re: Question About Transferring From One iPhone Carrier to Another

In most cases, switching carriers is as easy as inserting the sim card for the
new carrier. This assumes the iphone is unlocked, if the phone is locked to a
particular carrier you will have to get it unlocked first.

Re: Question About Transferring From One iPhone Carrier to Another

2020-03-05 Thread Mike Arrigo
There is some debate to this, but I have read that at actually has the best
network. It's probably a toss up between at and Verizon. One thing is for
sure, t-mobile definitely does not have the best coverage although their
service is really good. I switched from t-mobile to at a couple years ago
because of t-mobile's smaller network.

Re: How do I get rid of Bump Bump Braille ?

Yes, I gathered as much aftgerwards, but wasn’t sure whether that proviso
referred to the screenshot of it that may be viewed in iMessages only, or
the thing itself. I myself haven’t heretofore got rid of a sticker pack
either; so I think that would be something maybe good to know or learn how
to do. .

You cannot find it because it is a sticker pack for iMessages, not an app.
In the app store it says:Only on iMessage So, however one would get rid of
a sticker pack, is how you would do that.
I have no idea since I've never tried to deal with a sticker pack.

Re: Ring Door Bell

2020-03-05 Thread Terri Stimmel

Re: Ring Door Bell
Hello everyone,

Thank you so much to Cristoble, Holly, and robin for offering their
knowledge regarding the ring doorbell and how it works. I really
appreciate it. I have
read all the responses from others who had some questions as well. I
didn't respond right away, because my boyfriend and I were getting
settled in to our

new place. It's certainly been an adventure.

We talked with our landlord and he doesn't have an issue at all with us
getting a ring. I was concerned about this, due to us renting. But he
even said

he would be glad to install it for us. So I am very grateful.

I plan to purchase the ring 2, sense I can get the rechargeable battery.
Also, while I will use the ring with my iPhone, I am very happy to know
that I
can use it with my echo dot as well. I was willing to purchase an echo
show if I needed to do so. But glad this isn't the case.

Thanks again for all the help, and thoughts. It's very appreciated.

It finally ended up dying on me last year (beyond the warranty).
TO my surprise, when I reached out to Ring, they replaced it after

because with this replacement, live streaming and everything else has
worked perfectly fine.
You can talk to whoever is at your door via the app and review your

Something you may want to consider and if I had to do it over again, I'd
probably opt for the Nest Doorbell is that with the Nest, I believe
there's facial
recognition. I know there's a big uproar with privacy issues and big
brother and all, but being blind, being able to tag people I think would
be super
useful. Right now with the ring, it's just the motion sensor alert. In
my case, my wife is sighted so it's not really an issue, but if you're
by yourself
or don't have a pare of working eyeballs always available, this might be
something to give serious consideration to.

Hello everyone,

Who here uses the ring door bell App?

How accessible is it with an iPhone?

What are some things you like about it?

And what are some things you dislike about it?

Are you able to speak to the person at your door, without having to
actually open the door?

Also, is this system wired in to your home?

I am possibly considering getting this. But I want to learn more about
it first.

Thank you,

Email Messages Disappear?

Hi, list.

I use the native email client of iPhone8. I notice that the messages in my

setting that hides these messages after certain period of time or they are
gone permanently? Can I retrieve these messages? If yes, how can that be
done, please?

Thanks!

Re: Looking for A Simple Unlimited Voice Recording App for iOS.

I have used the voicememos app to record things. She just needs to hit record
and then do a three finger double tap to turn speech off on voiceover. She can
then record what she wants and end recording by a two finger double tap. At the
beginning of the recording she will hear speech off, but that is it.

RE: Question About Transferring From One iPhone Carrier to Another

2020-03-05 Thread Alan Lemly
I wouldn't recommend buying a new iPhone from a computer store you do business
with. I'd recommend buying directly from Apple using the Apple Store app or
going to an Apple Store. You can sign up to get the Apple Card which results in
a 3% discount on the iPhone and it is unlocked and you can pay interest free
over 24 months. They also let you trade in an existing iPhone. I'd also caution
against believing everything you read on this list because a lot of
misinformation is posted.

We thought about going to a computer store that we do business with, buy them
there and still keep our wireless carrier. Any thoughts about that? I wouldn't
have to pay Verizon anymore than I already do by doing it that way.

We thought about going to a computer store that we do business with, buy them
there and still keep our wireless carrier. Any thoughts about that? I wouldn't
have to pay Verizon anymore than I already do by doing it that way.

Postpaid plans are required when financing a phone through your carrier and I
believe are paid for the previous month's usage. Prepaid plans can't be used to
finance a phone purchase and are paid for the following month's usage. Other
than those main differences, the cell coverage should be the same under either
plan. Autopay is when you sign up to pay your monthly bill automatically by
providing a credit card rather than going in each month and paying manually. It
saves you an additional $5 a month whether you have a postpaid or prepaid plan.
Being able to get 6GB of data plus unlimited calls and texts for about $38
after tax was a no-brainer for me especially since I've been very happy with
Verizon.

I'm not sure what you mean by postpaid versus a auto pay plan. I just pay my
bill by phone each month and if I'm paying say for a phone and iPad, then the
amount is the same until they are paid off. I think I'm getting 2 GB.

RE: Question About Transferring From One iPhone Carrier to Another

2020-03-05 Thread kitty hevener
Shirly, you may want to askabout prepaid services. That is actually what I
have with Verizon. Again, if u buy from a local store, just make sure the
Iphone is not locked to a given carrier. You could verify by double checking
the imei number with apple. I suggest this to keep u from going through the
nightmare I went through when I was bringing a phone to Verizon.

Hello,

Verizon does not lock phones, so you should be good to go.

Thanks.

Hi Shirley,

Before switching to Tmobile you will have to call Verizon and have them unlock
the phone so that it can be used with any other carrier.

And yes, you can use the same passcode on your new phone.

RE: Looking for A Simple Unlimited Voice Recording App for iOS.

2020-03-05 Thread Richard Turner
Any recording app is going to pick up VoiceOver unless you either use
headphones, or mute speech while recording. If she plans to email the
recordings, she needs to keep them under 5 MB or possibly 10 MB depending on
the ISP limits for attachments.
All recording apps will record until your iPhone runs out of memory.
You can tell Siri to record a memo, but I don't think you can tell it to stop
recording. I've never tried but I suspect that once the mic is being used to
record, Siri is unavailable.
HTH,

Headphones with no microphone will allow her to use the built-in microphone.
The Voice Memos app on the iPhone is simple and quite good.

Hope everyone is having a blessed day!

I'm trying to assist a friend with a project she's taking on.

She wish to write a book, but is going the ghostwriter route.

Her plan is too record all of her thoughts via voice recording app on her
iPhone 8.

The problem she's running into is that her voice is being recorded, but so is
VoiceOver. That isn't acceptable, especially when someone else is listening to
the recordings to take notes.

Can someone suggest too me a simple voice recording app for iOS that can be
stopped and started with Siri?

If no such app exists, something that is easy too operate if Siri is
disabled/turned off. Maybe by hitting the up (Start) or down (Stop) volume key?

Having no time restrictions on how long the recording can be would be nice too.

Any suggestions?
