Hi Simon,
Even I face this issue. Though not with Facebook but with whatsapp and
at times with linkedin. I am facing this after IOS 14. I was suggested
to change my Voiceover voice from Samantha to Alex or some other more
stable voice, but the problem has not been resolved even after
choosing Alex.

Kitty,

Thanks for confirming the presence of the 3.5mm jack. I'm perplexed why Amazon
product descriptions do not include a bare minimum of words stating what jacks
are included with their products and which USB charging connection they use.
This sort of info seems critical to me and takes very few words.

I don't have one of the Tribit MaxSound Plus Portable Bluetooth Speakers but I
found no mention of it having a 3.5mm jack on the Amazon website. That doesn't
mean it doesn't have such a jack because I find the worded product descriptions
becoming less and less informative as pictures seem to be taking over this
function. You might go to the Amazon website and review all the product
questions and answers and reviews to see if they say anything about such a
jack. Or you could try calling Amazon Accessibility and asking.

H hi You said that this speaker could connect to the victor stream. I have a
second generation victor stream. I did not know it had Bluetooth capability.
So, does this mean that this speaker also can hook up to an 8.5 mm Jack. Please
advise. John

Andrew, I am not very good with dementions, however, the speaker can be used
with the victor stream no problems. I don't use mine with the victor stream,
but this speaker and a lot of others I know about can be used with the victor
stream. I've got a lot of speakers I'm trying to sell that would be perfect
with the victor stream. I like to use a speaker with my stream and watch
described movies it works very well.

The tribet speaker is a great speaker and I'm sure you'd like it with your
stream.

I had tried that without success. See my earlier e-mail concerning turning off
the me address to solve the problem. Someone else said that the address would
not consistently remain turned off. I haven’t encountered that problem yet.
I’ll keep this thread around in case I get into trouble again.

Thanks,

2020-10-27 Thread Donna Casteen
Hi,

I'm a bit behind on emails. So I apologize if you have received an answer to
your problem.

When composing an email, if you tap on the from field a drop down window will
appear with all emails that you use on your phone to send & receive emails. Tap
on the email address in which you want to send the email from, by tapping on
the email address it will close the drop down window & the selected email will
be displayed in the from field of your out going email.

RE: powering up the iPhone?

2020-10-27 Thread Simon A Fogarty
After a while it will either talk to you if vo is on,
Or if you flick the toggle switch on the side for muting sound the phone will
vibrate

But note you do have to hold your finger on the power button for a few seconds
to turn it on.

Subject: powering up the iPhone?

Hello,

For those who cannot see the screen, how do you know when the phone is powering
up. Sometimes I find myself pressing the button more than once because it
seems like it’s taking too long to power up. Any tips or tricks?

Thanks,

Kim

Being that this speaker has been discussed recently, I wanted to let
everybody know that, as of this writing, it is being offered as a limited
time deal for $41.89. I do not know how long this will last, probably a
while supplies last thing. I think If you search maxsound, written as one
word, on Amazon, you should find it.

Re: Apple TV and direct touch

2020-10-27 Thread Julian
Hi,

I believe that if you do a two finger triple tap on the touchpad of the Apple
TV remote but it will toggle it back to the other rotor options. God only knows
why Apple decided to do this, I see no practical use for taking direct touch
out of the rotor and adding this extra step to the process.

RE: getting content from OneDrive into VoiceDreamReader

2020-10-27 Thread Richard Turner
In VDR, Go to Add.
Then File Browser.
You may have to hit the back button until you get to a screen that has a
locations button, and below that should be things like iCloud, iPhone, Onedrive.
At least that is what is on mine but I have used OneDrive quite a bit, so I
don’t remember if I had to select Locations first then OneDrive.
Once you get OneDrive selected, you will need to then navigate to the folder
where the file is, etc.

I loaded an audio book in MP3 format into OneDrive. It is in a zip file. I
then told OneDrive to share it with VDR. It says it is shared but I now can't
figure out how to see it in VDR.

Any advice?

Thanks.

If you have VoiceOver on, it just requires patience.
Hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, then wait.
After 60 seconds or so, if nothing has happened, try again.

Yes Richard, sorry yes I did know that that recommendation came from Mark and
you just forwarded it on. It’s very strange what’s happening with the printer.
It had before the said it was even complete grabbed a piece of paper and rolled
through and spit it out so we know the rollers work but Wyatt now says the
printer is jammed when there’s nothing in there jamming it and it why it won’t
grab the paper is unknown. We tried to use the virtual feature through the app
to contact HP but it said nothing about any flashing red lights only about
green ones and other colored ones. So I could not answer our question. Anyway
we know it has to do with the paper feet. I’m wondering if the printer is
defective. It shouldn’t be if it had already been capable of grabbing one piece
of paper from the stack and rolling it through once already. Anyway it’s
disappointing. The printer though is a beautiful size. I love the size. Let’s
see if I can get it working.

grab the paper is unknown.

Re: Apple watch question

2020-10-27 Thread Julian
Hi Jan,

I agree that it seems silly that Apple asks us periodically to sign into the
Apple Watch when the iPhone is nearby and should theoretically serve as
verification. However, they do what they do. When you have your phone close to
your watch and you were asked to sign in, check your iPhone screen or perhaps
in the notification center and see if an option comes up to use the on screen
keyboard on your phone to complete this process. That is what I ultimately
ended up doing to get past it. It's similar to using the iPhone on screen
keyboard to fill in edit field on an Apple TV. Hope this helps.

Wayne, that is good to hear. That means it is living up to Apple's claim.
That is why I ordered one, which I hope I'll get by mid November.

I love mine! I'm still figuring it out, as I have only had it for a few

I would have to agree with others, in regards to the battery life. I
think it could be much better. I have to charge the watch every day. I
tend to do this in the middle of the day, or early evening. This way I
can wear the watch to bed.

I use the watch to track my exercise. It's been very helpful for me in
this way. I also use it to help track my sleep. I've been diagnosed with
non-24. So knowing how much sleep I get, really helps. Even if it's more
of an estimate.

It took me a while to get used to the feeling of having a watch on my
arm. Also, it took me some getting used to the band. Eventually, I do
plan to purchase a different band. I think I finally found one I would
like more than the one that came with my watch.

Also, I recommend purchasing a good protective cover for your watch. I
have heard that the face can get scratched easily. I purchased a
protective cover for mine, as soon as I got it.

However, I purchased a cheap one, and it now has a couple of small
cracks along the edge. So I am in the process of replacing it.

I think you will really enjoy having a watch. Sometimes I find it easier
to check messages on my watch. As well as respond back to them. And when
I am by myself, I will take a call on the watch. It's nice to be
hands-free.

I hope this helps you in making your decision. If you do decide to get a
watch, I really hope you enjoy it.

RE: The magic fix to the iOS 14 Voiceover focus issue and all else which plagued me

2020-10-27 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
I guess I at one time turned it on and like you, turned the setting to off.

I’ve still found an edit field or two where VO gets stuck, but nothing like
before. Also, the text editing issues with dictation and the dictate bug also
appear to be gone for me.

Maybe it just sounds like it, but when you say toggled to off do you mean that
it was off or that you now turned it off? For me at least this needs to be off
and maybe that along with a complete reset of the phone and setting up as a new
device also helped, but I have yet to find any place where Voiceover gets stuck
or jumps around. I can now finally start to like iOS 14.

Well, well, would you look at that. All the sudden. Everything or at least
everything I’ve played with so far has become much more stable.

I have still encountered a situation or two where VO still gets stuck on an
element (the Amazon seller app for example), but no where nearly as much as
before with this keyboard setting toggled to off.

Thanks for the tip.

Subject: The magic fix to the iOS 14 Voiceover focus issue and all else which
plagued me

Hi,

So, finally I am again a happy camper although I probably did not even have to
do the complete erase and reset on my iPhone 11 and then setting up as a new
device which I just did a few days ago hoping it would help fix some of the
issues I had.

Here is a bit of background:

I bought an iphone 8 64 Gb two years ago and this year I did not participate in
the iOS 14 public beta throughout the summer because I really needed my phone
to work and could not take chances with strange issues. I finally upgraded
about a week or two after iOS 14 was released in september and promptly
regretted it when I experienced the many focus issues people were talking about.

I then recently took advantage of a pretty good promotion my provider offered
on the iPhone 11 which already had iOS 14 on it when I received it, but all the
issues were the same.

For one thing the Today View was broken, then there was the mildly annoying
issue in the App Store where you had to swipe right twice if you want to
install updates (the first time it seemed like Voiceover said "Update", but
then focus would immediately jump back to the app description). And finally I
was unable to share anything any longer unless it was by text or iMessage to
one of the contacts which show up in the list of recently contacted people in
the share sheet. As soon as I selected to share by Mail, WhatsApp or Facebook
the following screen where the selected app would open was completely
inaccessible with Voiceover typically stuck on Cancel or something like that.

Finally I had an issue which most others did not seem to have and that had to
do with something very annoying when typing on the on-screen keyboard in most
edit fields. What would happen is this:

Assume for example I open a message conversation and double tap on the edit
field to reply to somebdy who sent me a text or iMessage (it did not matter
which it was).

As soon as I double tap on an iMessage conversation field Voiceover would say
this:

Message, text field is editing, iMessage, character mode, insertion point at
start

Now assume I want to start by typing "Hello", so I type the upper case H and I
hear Voiceover say the following:

Message, text field is editing, H, character mode, insertion point at end

I now type the "e" of the word "Hello" and hear Voiceover say:

Message, text field is editing, He, character mode, insertion point at end

I type the first l of Hello and Voiceover says:

Message, text field is editing, Hel, character mode, insertion point at end.
This continues with the second l and finally when I type the final o I hear:

Message, text field is editing, Hello, character mode, insertion point at end

Next I put in a space and it again repeats:

Message, text field is editing, Hello, character mode, insertion point at end

You can see the pattern, each time I typed a letter Voiceover repeated the
entire message about "message, text field is editing, character mode and
insertion

point and in between it said everything I had so far typed.

Re: Voice Over and the Locke screen

2020-10-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
Have you restarted your phone recently? I try to shut mine down and
boot it up once every 7 to 10 days to minimize any issues. Also, I
reboot my phone after installing a new update for the same reason.

Re: What do you like about your apple watches?

2020-10-27 Thread Richard Turner
Wayne, that is good to hear. That means it is living up to Apple's claim.
That is why I ordered one, which I hope I'll get by mid November.

himself,” and we forget that only grace can break the cycle of ancient hatreds

Hello there,

I love mine! I'm still figuring it out, as I have only had it for a few
months now. I have the series 5. I didn't realize there was even an SE
version, until reading this thread.

Just for accuracy's sake, I just forwarded Mark's recommendation.
You may need to call HP to sort this out.

Subject: HP Printer Set Up

Hey all,

I’m trying to finish setting up my new HP laser printer and it says the set up
is complete and we’re trying to print a test sheet. We’re getting an error
messege saying i cant print until this is resolved. It says look at the printer
to see what is wrong but all there is on the printer is a red flashing warning
light. We have no idea what this means or how to fix the problem. HP Laserjet
M15w this is the model that Mark and Richard recently recommended.

Re: What do you like about your apple watches?

2020-10-27 Thread CrazyEyez
I'm also getting an apple watch.
I'm leaning toward the 6 because of the somewhat faster processor, blood oxygen
tracking, and the ECG.
Most likely I won't be using those features extensively, but i'm keeping the
watch for 2 years at least, so why not start with the best I can get at the
time.

RE: powering up the iPhone?

2020-10-27 Thread Richard Turner
If you have VoiceOver on, it just requires patience.
Hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, then wait.
After 60 seconds or so, if nothing has happened, try again.

Hello,

For those who cannot see the screen, how do you know when the phone is powering
up. Sometimes I find myself pressing the button more than once because it
seems like it’s taking too long to power up. Any tips or tricks?

Thanks,

Kim

Re: powering up the iPhone?

2020-10-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
I wait about 20 seconds after pressing the power button. It usually
comes on after that. Actually, I have also plugged the pone into power
to help it come on reliably, versus pressing the power button and not
really knowing if it powered on.

Re: What do you like about your apple watches?

2020-10-27 Thread Terri Stimmel

Hello there,

I love mine! I'm still figuring it out, as I have only had it for a few
months now. I have the series 5. I didn't realize there was even an SE
version, until reading this thread.

It's nice to be hands-free.

I hope this helps you in making your decision. If you do decide to get a
watch, I really hope you enjoy it.

Re: What do you like about your apple watches?

2020-10-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
I've got a Series 6 watch. I was excited about the blood oxygen
monitor and have found it useful. Prior to the Series 6, I mostly used
the watch for vibrating the time and tracking other health items like
steps and heart rate. Now though, I am using it to track sleep in
addition to monitor my blood oxygen. If you can afford it, I would
recommend the Apple Watch SE, since it has nearly everything on the
Series 6 minus a couple of things. Plus, it will run a lot better and
be more stable with VoiceOver than the cheaper Series 3.

Good luck,
Wayne Merritt

HP Printer Set Up

2020-10-27 Thread deidre muccio

Re: Accessible sleep app for Apple Watch.

2020-10-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
I would also recommend Sleep Watch. I haven't yet paid for the premium
features, which seem to be comparing your sleep patterns with other
users and perhaps other things. For what I want to know, the basic
offerings get the job done. I get sleep reports each morning where I
can look at my total sleep, amount of restful time, sleeping heart
rates and any dips in heart rate, and other things. Also, Sleep Watch
automatically tracks sleeping when you go to sleep; there's nothing to
turn on or off, which I like. The Sleep Watch iPhone app is completely
accessible with all buttons labeled, from what I can find anyway.
There is an Apple Watch app but I haven't looked at that very much.

Good luck,
Wayne Merritt

Re: apple watch, V5 Vs. SE

2020-10-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
Dean,
If you can pay $275 for the Series 5, why not pay $279 for the Apple
Watch SE? The SE has all things in the new Series 6, except for the
blood oxygen sensor and ECG monitor. Another question is if the Series
5 includes a watch band. If that's the case, then the Series 5 may be
worth it. A basic band comes with all watches, but if you want
something more than the sport band, you will likely have to pay extra.

Be well,
Wayne Merritt

If you are talking about when VoiceOver says, "direct touch areea" you just
turn the rotor until you hear Direct Touch, and flick up with one finger to
turn it on.
When you leave that app everything goes back to normal.

Tribit Maxsound for $41.89 On Amazon

2020-10-27 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Being that this speaker has been discussed recently, I wanted to let everybody
know that, as of this writing, it is being offered as a limited time deal for
$41.89. I do not know how long this will last, probably a while supplies last
thing. I think If you search maxsound, written as one word, on Amazon, you
should find it.

RE: The magic fix to the iOS 14 Voiceover focus issue and all else which plagued me

2020-10-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, I had them in 14.1 as well as in 14.2 public beta 4 which is what I tried
after 14.1 brought no improvements for me. Of course I now know better and it
was simply having this "Full keyboard access" turned on which caused me such
problems.

Sieghard: Did you update to iOS14.1 before you turned off the ‘allow full
keyboard access’ setting? If you diod, did you still have the VO focus uissues
then? (They’re a lot less in 14.1 in my experience than they were in 14.01.)

This happened in most search fields and other edit fields, one place where it
does not happen and Voiceover behaves as
it should is in the Mail app in the message body field.

2020-10-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
