single ear bluetooth earpiece review

2021-08-28 Thread Richard Turner
A few days ago, I purchase an unknown Bluetooth earpiece from amazon because my
trusty Plantronics E50 got lost.
I wanted a single earpiece for those times when I don't need the full stereo of
the Apple Airpods Max and didn't want to spend a lot of money. Like, sitting
in a waiting room, just reading something with Voice Dream Reader ...
I tried a really inexpensive one that was pretty awful.
Then, I tried the GPEESTRAC HSP-B3.
It lived up to the stats it gave which I copied below from the Amazon page.
I easily got 16 hours of usage time over the last three days.
While I normally do not go for the in-ear type, this one is fine.
The sound quality is quite good both on the listening end and talking end.
It has the boom microphone and a somewhat larger section that I assume is the
battery that fits behind your ear. It hooks over either ear and is quite easy
to get positioned for best comfort and sound.
Here are the specs:
*  DUAL-MIC NOISE-CANCELLING--- HSP-B3 Combines two built-in HD
microphones and advanced CVC8.0 noise reduction technology which can eliminate
disruptive background noise without missing any single conversation details
even in noisy place. Allowing you to enjoy high quality music and have a
Crystal Clear chat on Calls.
* ?ULTRA-LONG BATTERY LIFE--- HSP-B3 battery can provide 10 days
standby time and Up to 16 hours of continuous talking time on a single fully
charge. Only 10-minutes charging can offer HSP-B3 two hours working time. In
addition, The magnetic connector design makes the charging process easier by
simply placing the connector near the charging interface to let the charging
time begins.
* ?COMFORTABLE & UNIQUE DESIGN--- Ultimate comfort ear gels are
available in 3 different sizes (Small Medium and Large) to provide a snug and
tailored fit. 180° rotatable ear-hook and 270° flexible boom mic can be
adjusted and rotated for a perfect fit on ears. No more burden on ears even
after wearing it for a long time.
* ?STABLE CONNECTION & CONVIENENT--- Supports Stream
Music/Video/Audio. Hands-free HSP-B3 Bluetooth headset can be connected to 2
devices at the same time and both devices can play music/call/gaming. Providing
fast and stable pairing with any iOS and Android smart phones, tablets,
laptops, MP3 players, PC etc from up to 33 ft away. Easy-to-reach buttons will
let you enjoy real hands-free experience.
* ?100% SATISFACTION CUSTOMER SERVICE--- If for any reason you're not
completely satisfied with our wireless Bluetooth headset, please don't hesitate
to contact us. It's our desire to do our best effort towards your satisfaction!
$39.99 at Amazon
Amazon.com: GPEESTRAC: BLUETOOTH
HEADSET

There is a very slight delay when flicking with VoiceOver, but it is within my
tolerance level.
You have to go through their Product page/ask a question to contact them, which
I wish was easier.
But, in the few days I've had it, I have no need to contact them.
I have not tried connecting to a second device as yet.

I am quite satisfied with this purchase.

RE: Voicemails Aren't Playing Through the Speakers

2021-08-28 Thread Alan Lemly
Open the voicemail message, double tap on the play voicemail button, and with
the message playing, swipe to the playback destination button and double tap.
You should then hear the voicemail playing through your iPhone’s speaker. The
message must be playing before the playback destination button cycles through
the available destinations.

Tried your suggestion being I hadn't tried it in a while. It doesn't work.
Starting play again after removing the phone from my ear still sends the
voicemail to play from the ear piece. There is a playback destination button
which seems to do nothing.

Donna

Actually, you can. When it starts playing though the ear piece, just pull the
phone away from your head and the voice mail will stop. At that point if you
don't have your hand over the ear speaker you can flick on the screen and find
the destination button. If you tap it the message will now play through the
speaker. A real pain but at least it works more or less. I wish you could
make it default to speaker because that is what I prefer.

Mike, It has been a few IOS versions ago in which voicemail messages could be

found that if a person was speaking quietly letting the voicemail come through
the speaker made the voicemail louder. Now voicemail messages have to be

Given how accurate many of the rumours are nowadays I would say that we
certainly do know quite a lot although there could still be room for a surprise
or two.

As for languages I would think that is more a function of the version of iOS
and not the hardware and iOS 15 was introduced in June and the current Beta is
probably very close to what the final release will be.

I assume we'll hear next week when Apple's September event will be, I assume it
will be the week starting September 13.

Re: Multiple Email Addresses in iCloud?

2021-08-28 Thread Kliph
Yes and yes. If you have one you have to go to the website
iCloud.com
To create what they call alias’s. The nice thing about it though, is you can
choose what email to send from, and they all bring mail into the same in box
unless you sort them to a different folder.

Rumored Apple event date

2021-08-28 Thread Richard Turner
According to an article in Apple Insider, the invites to the event will go out
on September 7, and the event will be September 14.

I'm sure like every other Apple event it will be at 10 AM Pacific Time.
We probably won't hear anything official from Apple until September 6 or 7.
September 6 is the US Labor Day holiday, and Apple usually doesn't hold an
event that next day, so the 14th makes pretty good sense to me.

IF you have access to NFB Newsline, Apple Insider is one of the options to read.

HTH,

RE: purchasing iPhone 13

2021-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Given how accurate many of the rumours are nowadays I would say that we
certainly do know quite a lot although there could still be room for a surprise
or two.
As for languages I would think that is more a function of the version of iOS
and not the hardware and iOS 15 was introduced in June and the current Beta is
probably very close to what the final release will be.
I assume we'll hear next week when Apple's September event will be, I assume it
will be the week starting September 13.

RE: Transferring from Iphone 8 to Iphone XR

2021-08-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You should have the option to use Quick Setup if you do a full reset where you
choose to delete all settings and content because this will set your phone back
to the way it was when you first received it where you have to press the side
button 3 times to start Voiceover and then start the setup.
I am not sure why this isn't working for you or where you may be missing a
step, when I did it for my iPhone 11 and my wife's 11 Pro it was quite clear
although it may take a bit of trial and error to line up the code you have to
scan.

Sieghard, As mentioned earlier, I've set up several Iphones but never had one
which used the contact message. On my Iphone 8, I purposefully changed the
setting in camera from Video to Photo when the first contact didn't work,
assuming it might have been the Video setting. Nothing changed when I set it to
Photo so that wasn't the problem.  My first attempt might have been sloppy as
the Swiping instead of the button is new to me. I now have it practised and
mastered.

Having accomplished this mastery, I decided to try again after starting from
scratch and setting up the XR as a new phone; still no luck.  If one only gets
one chance despite starting from scratch, I consider this a serious bug.

Mike, It has been a few IOS versions ago in which voicemail messages could be
listened to through the speaker. I wish Apple would bring the option back. I
found that if a person was speaking quietly letting the voicemail come through
the speaker made the voicemail louder. Now voicemail messages have to be
listened to by putting the phone to the ear. I don't like this, because
sometimes I miss the first few words of a message, due to the few seconds that
it takes to start play & bring the phone to my ear. As for the voicemail
transcript, for me, all of the transcript is never there. I find the feature
useless for the most part.

Donna

Hi All,

I'm using an SE 2020 iPhone running iOS14.7.1. I rarely get a voicemail, but
yesterday I did get one and when I tried to play it nothing would come through
the speakers. I was able to read the voicemail using the transcription
service, but would someone please tell me what setting I need to change to get
the voicemails to come through the speakers again? Or, tell me what settings
to look at? All help is greatly appreciated, thanksmooy moocho.

Stay safe & take care. Mike.
Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say: "Close Enough!"

RE: purchasing iPhone 13

2021-08-28 Thread Carolyn
How long will it be before there is a new SE? Battery would be my concern too,
and what would be the main differences between an SE and a 13 mini?

I thought about waiting for the new SE. My concern is that it will have the
same small battery.

You really sure about that?

As there are rumours of a new SE with larger screen for next year,

I guess it’s one we need to wait and see.

Hi, just curious on thoughts would you upgrade from a SE2020 to a iPhone 13?
Why or why not?

Re: Voicemails Aren't Playing Through the Speakers

2021-08-28 Thread Donna Casteen
Mike, It has been a few IOS versions ago in which voicemail messages could be
listened to through the speaker. I wish Apple would bring the option back. I
found that if a person was speaking quietly letting the voicemail come through
the speaker made the voicemail louder. Now voicemail messages have to be
listened to by putting the phone to the ear. I don't like this, because
sometimes I miss the first few words of a message, due to the few seconds that
it takes to start play & bring the phone to my ear. As for the voicemail
transcript, for me, all of the transcript is never there. I find the feature
useless for the most part.

RE: Voicemails Aren't Playing Through the Speakers

2021-08-28 Thread Debby
Hi Mike,

I have never known voicemails to come through the speakers. I only hear them in
the ear piece. I have never heard of a way to get them in the speaker. If there
is a way, I know someone will chime in.

Take care and stay safe!

Mike.
