Re: sorting facebook posts by most recent

I'm having the same issue.
I just checked, and though my screen recognition is turned on, it's not
selected to work with FaceBook.
I hope they fix this soon or someone finds a workaround.

Re: Renaming Echo

2022-07-19 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
> Hi, everyone.
I just renamed two of my echo dots, both fourth gen.
All I did was go to the Alexa app, then devices, then all devices.
Once there, tap on the name of the device you want to change, then on device
settings.
You'll see your current device name, then VO should say edit name. Double tap,
delete what's there and type the name you want, then hit return on your
onscreen keyboard.
The name should be changed now. At least, that's what worked for me, so
hopefully it'll help anyone else who wants to rename their echo.

I tried sending them an email when I was having a different accessibility bug,
but never got a reply.
I've sent them tweets before though, with mixed results.
Let's hope they get this fixed soon, doing lessons without being able to see
what you're typing is frustrating.

FYI and a question.

2016-12-01 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
Hi, everyone.
Recently someone was asking about how to hide and show the onscreen keyboard of
an iphone while using a bluetooth keyboard.
The responses I saw all had to do with the apple bluetooth keyboard which I
don't have, so I was wondering how to do it with my logitech k810.
For anyone else with this keyboard, the answer is to press F12, and VO will say
keyboard visible/keyboard hidden. Just thought I'd pass that along for anyone
else who was wondering.
Now, for my question.
Using the k810, is there a way to skip between tracks while music is playing?
I've figured out how to play/pause music and increase/decrease the volume, but
moving from track to track is still a mystery.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

I've tried to add to an existing file using the dropbox ap with no luck.
I didn't see anything about editing in the dropbox ap itself, so if this can be
done that'd be a bonus.

Hi everyone.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of an ap that will let me edit files that are
stored in my dropbox without having to download them first?
What I want to do is open a document within an ap, edit it, and have the
changes save directly to dropbox, the way you can with a computer.
Is this even possible? If so, which ap can I use?
I'd prefer a free ap if possible.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Re: Weird itunes mystery.

2016-05-21 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
Hi, Mark.

You're right, you can seriously screw up your computer if you go
messing around in the registry and don't know what you're doing. So
no, it's not something I feel comfortable trying.
Litterally all I want to do is copy my existing music library to my
ipod, I hardly ever even make changes to said music library. If there
was a way to copy the exact music from my iphone to my ipod I'd do it,
like yesterday.

I'm running ios9.3.2 on both my iphone 5 and my ipod touch 5g.
I litterally just connected my phone to itunes 11.4 and it synced,
with absolutely no problems.
However, when I connect my ipod, running the same version of Ios,
itunes pops up the this ipod cannot be used because it requires itunes
12.2.2 or later error message.
So yes, I'd say there's a mystery here somewhere.
Also no, I don't have any IPSW files downloaded anywhere, at least not

Another interesting thing i forgot to mention yesterday.
I put my ipod into DFU mode just to see what it looked like, hit
restore, and it offered to restore to Ios9.1, I believe it was.
I didn't do it, of course, because as far as i know apple isn't
signing that version anymore, so I think restoring to it would brick
my ipod worse than it already is.
Why would a DFU mode restore offer a firmware Apple isn't signing?

Yeah, it is super weird that one device works while the other doesn't.
Also, yay, someone else who thinks the way I do about xp. It suits my

All I use itunes for is putting music on my devices, so because one of

Thanks for the good luck, I hope I can get this working, ugh.

Alan,

Everything I've googled does support the idea that ITunes 12.x is
required, that's why the fact that my phone will sync is such a
mystery. Not that i'm complaining, of course!
I can connect my phone, it pops up in my sources list, and I can add
music to it, which is all i use itunes for.
Yeah, if I do call, the people at apple will probably hear the words
windows xp and start laughing. Well no, but everyone else says xp is
outdated, not secure, bla bla bla. It works just fine here, I have no
issues, I'll update when I'm good and ready.
Hopefully I can get this resolved, it's kind of annoying to have an
ipod and not be able to play music on it. I mean sure I could copy my
library to dropbox and use that app to play music, but that kind of
defeats the purpose, IMO.

At least I can still use the ipod for apps...

Also, wouldn't restoring my ipod from my icloud backup just put all
the same information back on it, basically recreating the same

Re: Weird itunes mystery.

2016-05-20 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
I don't know, because when I connect my ipod to itunes it immediately
pops up the message about not being able to use the ipod because it
requires a newer version of itunes.
When I cancel out of the message, my ipod isn't even listed under
sources, so it's like itunes doesn't even see it.

Weird itunes mystery.

2016-05-20 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
Hi, everyone.
First, before I get into what's going on, let me say that i'm using an
ipod touch fifth gen, and that my computer is running windows xp and
Itunes 11.4.
Yes, I know, my OS is ancient, please don't tell me that.
Now, on to the mystery.
About a month ago, I downloaded an AudioBoom update, didn't like it,
and tried to go back to the previous version.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the right version on my computer, so I
restored my ipod from an icloud backup in order to get my previous app
back.
The restore worked, eventually. The first few times it kept saying it
couldn't copy some of my apps because they weren't available, but I
was eventually able to complete a restore.
I import all of my music from cds, using itunes to sync it to my ipod.
Because of the restore, my music wasn't coppied over.
So I tried to sync my ipod to get my music back, only to be told that
my ipod couldn't be used because it required a newer version of
itunes.
Now, for the mystery. My iphone 5, which is running the exact same
version of IOS as my ipod (when this started it was 9.3.1, and still
happens with 9.3.2), will sync just fine.
i've tried everything I can think of to get this working, with no
success. I even downloaded the IPSW file for IOS9.3.1, put my ipod
into recovery mode and restored with that, no luck.
Now, there is a newer version of itunes that'll work on xp, but I
don't like itunes 12, and because my phone will still sync fine, see
no real reason to update.
Has anyone had this kind of thing happen to them? If so, what can I do
to get my music back onto my ipod? I've even tried various wifi file
sharing apps, but they all just keep the files inside themselves,
since apple won't allow us to copy music to the ipod's internal
library without itunes.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, this is super frustrating.

Apple is calling this "Low Power Mode" and hence I assume Apple has
meant for this to be used once you get your 20% low battery warning and
you want to get the most out of your remaining battery life.
When the low battery warning appears, the option to turn on low power
 mode is on the screen.
You can, however, manually enable it very quickly and easily by telling
SIRI "Turn on Power Saving Mode".
This will display the "Low Power Mode" explanation screen and you can at
that point tap cancel to not turn it on or tap continue and low power
 mode will be turned on.
OK, so I now just tried this again and this time it just turned it on
without showing me that screen, but either way, you can turn it on and
off with SIRI. I do agree, though, that this would be not a bad
additional option to have in control centre.

Where is a good place to suggest things to Apple?

I want to know, why in the world did they not put this power saving
option in control center? That would make it easily accessible to
 toggle on/off.

Would this be an appropriate thing to do via feedback assistant for
 public beta?

 Thanks,

It's not on my ipod touch fifth gen either, i've looked.
Also, you can ask siri to turn it on or off, in case nobody mentioned that yet.

Re: Changing the look of the music app under 8.4 -- is it possible?

2015-09-08 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
OMG thank you, someone else who wants the old app back.
I haven't even looked at the new one because once you upgrade to 8.4
you can't downgrade, so both my phone and ipod are on 8.3.
There are sighted people who can't stand the new layout too, if that helps any.
If anyone does know a way to put the old tabs back that isn't super
complicated, please pass it along.

Re: Changing the look of the music app under 8.4 -- is it possible?

2015-09-08 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
I thought turning off apple music just took it out of the tab order/layout?
Like someone else said, I would love to have my playlist, artists, and
songs tabs back, along with the more option, which could maybe hide
the connect/radio option for those of us who wouldn't use either.
Also, all apple would have to do is create a setting under music
labeled something like show classic view, and that could put back the
tabs some of us want.

That's exactly what I thought too.
I grabbed the pro app when it went free a while back, and when I saw

I have noticed that my Iphone 5 keeps droping the WIFI and found myself
with an overage this month because it kept reverting to cellular. I
have never had an overage before. I turned off the cellular and it still
drops the WIFI. I go to settings and can't find my network. I turn the
phone off and on again, and all is well for awhile. Then it will lose th
enetwork and need to reboot so it can find it again. Has anyone else
 noticed this since iOS 8?

 Thanks.

Scanning books?

Hi, everyone.
I recently bought an ipod touch fifth generation, and was wondering if

Thanks for any help/recommendations, I appreciaite them.

Re: Television Remote for Visually Impaired

2012-09-30 Thread Cheryl LeFurgey
This sounds awesome, I hope you can get it to work.
I've been looking for an app that will control a dvr that works with
Cogeco, that's the cable company I use here in Canada.
I haven't ever been able to find such an app, and would love to have
one so I could use a dvr like my sighted friends.
If anyone knows of such an app, let me know?

This is just a small suggestion that if people are interested in joining any
sort of beta testing team, they should contact the original sender privately
not on list. As far as the discussion of this new item, it is very welcome
on list. I hope that clears it up.

 Hello VIPhone Group

We are building a new television remote for the VI and Blind in
association with the Royal National Institute for the Blind in London.

This remote will be a mobile application for the iPhone and iPad
platforms. We have just secured a partnership with TiVo and are now
 moving ahead with the design.

I'm interested in knowing what features would be the most useful for the
 members of this group.

Please tell me what would make the TV controller experience better for
 you.

I'll keep everyone updated on our progress. Our website will go live in
about a month with me more details.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Does anyone know how to delete messages from your fb with the new
version? I can see my messages but haven't figured out how to delete
unwanted ones.
