I don’t understand that either.

Lots of people have said how much they like it on this list.

I wrote a review on amazon.

Is that the place you are looking?

The Fopydo book-reading aid does a great job of keeping a book open and you’re
not obliged to use KNFBReader for scanning if your book has a complex layout.
I’ve scanned books with complex medical and scientific language using the
Fopydo with excellent results.

In my opinion, the Fopydo Stand with Book Reading Aid is the best bet for books.

The ScanJig Pro Plus can be used with books, but it won't help you keep the

If you're not looking for a high level of document fidelity or high level of
accuracy, then KNFB reader and alike will help you quickly scan daily mail to
determine the difference between junk and important mail.

If you're looking for accuracy in your scanned books, you should probably stick
with a flat bed scanner and K1000 or OpenBook. I've tried to scan a textbook
page with KNFB reader, and it just wasn't practical to use this method to scan
the book. I did not try any scanning aids, but I doubt it will make much of a
difference when it comes to a textbook as the level of accuracy and fidelity
should be much higher for a textbook than a novel. Maybe you'll get good
results in near perfect conditions, but you're asking a bit much for this type
of app if you think you can use it to scan and read a textbook.

Thank you both for the responses.
Fopydo Book Reading Aid, can be also used for print sheets, not just bound
book?
Thanks,

In my opinion, the Fopydo Stand with Book Reading Aid is the best bet for books.
The ScanJig Pro Plus can be used with books, but it won't help you keep the
pages open the way the Fopydo system does.

2016-05-25 Thread Carla Savage

Hi James,
I use the Scan Jig Pro. I really like it as it can be used with multiple
devices and it is a nice and strong plastic box. It works really well with the
KNFB Reader and my iPhone 6.
Hope this helps,
Carla.

Do you have the link to the video. I have the stand and book holder but I’ve

Thanks for the link to the video. Actually, if you let it play past the end,
another video comes on, and he's speaking louder and more clearly. I had the

RE: Fopydo Book Reading Aid?

2016-01-03 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Chris,

Before we take this off list, I suspect others may have issues too.

It sounds like you separated the stand from the reading aid. The stand needs
to be bent over in half and the end with the long tab sticking out is pushed
into the slot so that the stand forms a shelf with the strip of microsuction
tape on the top.
It is like you are opening up the stand so that it is about two feet long, then
bending it back at about the 1 foot mark, then bending it again at about 18
inches and pushing that tab into the slot.
When you are done, the metal legs sit on the table and the rest forms a nice
flat shelf for the phone. There is a half circle notch in the shelf that you
place the camera a little in front of so the camera is pointing down on your
document.
Now, to use the stand and the reading aid together, before setting your phone
on the shelf, the metal legs fit into holds in the end of the reading aid so
that the reading aid is now the bed for your book or document to be on and the
phone will point to about the middle of that platform.

If that doesn't help, let me know.

Richard

Subject: Fopydo Book Reading Aid?

Hi folks.

Did anybody else go for the Fopydo Bookreading aid during the crowd
funding campaign?

I received mine, but must be missing something really simple in the
assembly instructions. I can't figure out where my phone goes.
Rather than clutter the list with back and forth posts, can I talk to
someone who has this thing off-list? I'd like to describe how I have
this thing assembled and situated, and hopefully figure out what part
is confusing me.

Currently, I have the foam pads extended out to the sides and rotated
so the foam is facing the stand. The surface between the foam pads
is flat on my desk. I assume what I want to scan goes between the foam pieces.

. Two metal pieces are rotated so their ends contact the table, and
they support a hinged piece of cardboard, currently slanted at about
45 degrees. The metal pieces are in front of me. The cardboard hinge
is at the rear..

Instructions on the Fopydo Website talk about a shelf for my phone to
sit on, but all I find is a notched slot maybe four inches in length,
and the end of my phone definitely doesn't fit in it. That whole
surface is on about a 45 degree angle, so my phone won't stay put if
I try and rest it there either.

Signed, perplexed, even though I got a good mark in high school
geometry class years ago. LOL

Chris

Hello Chris,

It sounds as though you have it right. The foam pads stop the pages from
turning by themselves. Don’t squeeze them too tightly against the top and
bottom of the book and you should be able to turn the page while KNFB Reader is
speaking the double page you just scanned.

I put the instructions into French for my list members and one person has
already successfully set up her stand. My instructions are much more concise
than those on the website which I found a bit confusing too.

Cheers,

Hi Richard.
Thanks for getting back to me so fast.
I'll reply in line below.

I think that is likely. I am usually pretty good with angles and
other such things, but the instructions on the Fopydo site just
aren't doing it for me. Perhaps if I had already owned the stand and
was just adding the book reading attachment to it, I would have
understood immediately.

It sounds like you separated the stand from the reading aid.

Oh wait, ok I've pulled the base and the stand apart. I see that
strip of adhesive.
I've located that interior folding section and inserted the tab into
the slot.

Update: I sent someone a link to that video where tom is
demonstrating, and they corrected what I was doing wrong! I had the
two metal legs facing exactly opposite to where they should be, so
the stand was jutting way out to the side of the base, and the tape
was definitely not on the top of the stand. It is now though, now
that I have the metal legs oriented correctly.

I'm pretty sure I could not have figured this out reading the written
instructions alone. Perhaps we should attempt a rewrite of them, to
send to people who buy the stand and book reading aid? Or are the
instructions clear enough to other folks?

Re: Fopydo Book Reading Aid?

2016-01-03 Thread Richard Turner

No, the foam pads should be at the top and bottom of the book so the two pages
are positioned with the right or left edge of the book against the stand. The
foam pads gently press against the top and bottom of the book so the pages
don't flip on their own.
It takes some experimenting to get the right amount of pressure.
Your description made me think you have the foam pads against the left and
right edges of the book where they won't be able to hold the pages.
Also, if the book, opened up, is more than about 12 inches, or more than about
a half inch thick, you may need to raise the stand an inch or more.
HTH,
Richard

Hi Christina.
The video does not show it being assembled, but
it does show it being used, with a phone sitting
on top and an open book on the base. If your
husband tries following the written instructions,
but glancing at how the finished assembly should
look in the video, he should be ok.

The video is on the fopydo website, but it's also on youtube at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBx41Vo6cdE

Boy, I had to get out the expensive headphones to
hear what he's actually saying!

Fopydo Book Reading Aid?

2016-01-03 Thread Chris Smart

LOL
