Re: Regarding labeling photos

2022-04-09 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello,

Yes, you can put a description in the text area that will be your caption.
This text area is at the top of the screen.

So you could for example have a general description like “My kitten in the
garden”

If the photo included you and your kitten then exploring the photo you would
hear “Unknown person”. If you double tap here you could add your name to your
image and when exploring your photos any that the system thinks contain you
will be identified as such.

For example one of my photos said “a group of people sat at a table maybe
Malcolm Parfitt”

Because I have labeled my image and I have describe Images on.

Unfortunately you can only name people and not animals. So the caption area
would be your best bet for labelling your kitten.

2022-04-09 Thread Diane Giannetti
Malcolm, thank you very much for that information. So by leaving a caption does
that mean I can leave her name there? I have a kitten and I want to leave her
name so I was a little bit confused because then you said if it was persons or
something like that you could go to the other part and leave the name.

Re: Regarding labeling photos

2022-04-09 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello,

If you open a particular photo navigate to and double tap the Info button.

If you explore the screen now, you have a number of things you can do.

At the top of the screen you can activate a text area to add a caption. Once
added this caption will be read out when you explore your photos.

Additionally when swiping around the screen, if the photo contains people you
will hear “unknown person”. If you double tap here, you can give the person a
name. This is useful, for example I added my name to my photo and when I am
swiping through my photos Voiceover announces that I am in photos even if I am
part of a group.

Hope this helps but don’t hesitate to ask if you need clarification on any of
the above.

Re: Labeling Photos

2020-10-16 Thread Julian
Hi Diane,

I see that dictation slightly messed up the instructions I attempted to give
you earlier. What you have to do is put focus on the item you want to relabel,
use two fingers to double tap and hold until the label element option pops up.
Now you can simply use the on screen keyboard to type in the name that you wish
to give that element and save it and that should work.

Hi Diane,

Tried doing 82 finger double tap and hold on the photo and that should bring up
the option that lets you label that picture.

RE: Labeling photos app

2014-11-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Charles,

If you are a Windows user you can connect your iPhone to the PC with the
Lightning cable. If you have pictures on the phone there is a good change the
Internal Storage folder of the iPhone will open automatically, if not just go
to Computer with the Windows Key+E shortcut, at the bottom of your list of
drives you should find your iPhone. For photos you can open it just like a USB
drive, just drill down through all the folders until you get to your images.
You can then copy individual pictures or select all and copy them, then go to a
folder on your computer and paste them with Control+v.
Just remember to use Control+C for copy, you can't move (Control+x) or delete
the pictures from your computer. If you want to delete them after you copied
them you have to do this from the Photos app on your phone. You also can't copy
pictures to your phone this way so they show up in the Photos app as pictures
or albums, if you want to put pictures onto your phone you have to do so using
iTunes.

Sieghard

Re: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi,

Other people may have a better solution, but I tend to connect the
phone to a computer after each photo, copy said photo onto the
computer rename it based on its contents. Alternatively you could
make a note of when each photo was taken what it was of, then when
transferring them you could inspect the date time that they were
created, matching up each photo to your notes.

Cheers,
Ben.

Yes - they're ordered by date time taken so it's not really a huge
issue if it's just one or two photos. I do quite a bit of eBay selling
so I have to put them onto a computer anyway; I tend to do them one at
a time though so I can be absolutely certain that I'm putting a
MacBook on one of my listings not a glass of homebrew.

Re: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Donna
Hi

Tap Tap See may be able to do what you need. I haven't figured out a way to
label the pictures using the app. The app does have access to your camera roll
and can describe what the picture is. For example if you take a picture of a
pair of headphones Tap Tap See would return a description of headphones or if
the brand can be seen the description may say Sony headphones. Within the app
you have the option of posting the photo to facebook, sending the photo by text
message or email and copying the photo

Camfind can also identify photos in your camera roll, but I haven't figured out
a way to label the photos and there isn't an option to share the photos.

RE: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Donna,

I think it would be good if a lot of people would write to Apple either using
www.apple.com/feedback or the accessibil...@apple.com email address to request
that Apple would implement photo labelling either as a feature for all users or
an accessibility feature. Not being able to effectively label photos in iOS is
definitely a big deal for blind users, but you even find threads where sighted
users ask for this. I wonder how difficult it would be for Apple to add a
feature where you could maybe double tap on a photo and a menu would pop up
with options like Delete, Move and Label or something like that. If it was an
accessibility feature it would maybe be done via the rotor, e.g. swipe down or
up to get to options like Label, Delete, Move etc. Then if you double tap on
label a simple text box would come up similar to the custom label feature which
would allow you to add a text label but without changing the actual file name
of the picture and it's order.

There are a bunch of apps in the app store which allow you to add labels to
pictures, but I think most are meant for sighted people who want to add
artistic tapes, stamps and widges to photos which may or may not contain a text
label. A Google search for Labelling photos in iOS 8 gives you a number of
results and it seems that an app called labelbox is well regarded and has
already been updated to take advantage of iOS 8 extensions. It's a large app,
over 100 Mb, and it's free with in-app purchases. I did download it, but so far
have not been able to get anywhere with it. I guess apps like this which are
heavily focused on visual effects might be more difficult to make accessible
and of course many developers may not even think about that. I wrote to the
developer of Labelbox and mentioned the potential usefulness of his app for
blind iOS users and if I receive a reply I'll post it here.
The main problem with I think all of these apps is that you have to open the
photo in order to see the description and I think what a blind user really
would appreciate is a label which would be read along with the date the picture
was taken when you go through your listing of pictures.

Another app which comes to mind is Photovoice. This has been discussed before
and I believe there might even be something about it on Applevis. This app
allows you to record a voice label in your own voice, but once again you do
have to open the photo in order to play this label. It basically converts your
picture to a small video file in order to allow for the voice label. Here is
the app store link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photovoice/id492150568?mt=8

Another app which does basically the same thing is called SpokenPhoto, but I
can't say anything regarding whether it is accessible or not. It is, however, a
free app whereas Photovoice is 99 Cents. Photovoice also has not been updated
since January 2013 which is almost 2 years. SpokenPhoto was updated in April
2014 which is a lot more recent. Here is the link for SpokenPhoto:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spokenphoto-give-your-photos/id491723663?mt=8

Good luck,
Sieghard

I have not been following this thread, but I have had no trouble labeling

In iOS 8.1, my previous labels are there and creating new ones works just like

I have not been following this thread, but I have had no trouble labeling
photos or videos since iOS 7.1.2
In iOS 8.1, my previous labels are there and creating new ones works just
like before.
I use the standard gesture of a two finger double-tap and hold and enter
text in the field and or delete what is there and enter something new and
then double tapping on the done button in the lower right corner.

 Hi Donna,

I think it would be good if a lot of people would write to Apple either
using www.apple.com/feedback or the accessibil...@apple.com email address
to request that Apple would implement photo labelling either as a feature
for all users or an accessibility feature. Not being able to effectively
label photos in iOS is definitely a big deal for blind users, but you even
find threads where sighted users ask for this. I wonder how difficult it
would be for Apple to add a feature where you could maybe double tap on a
photo and a menu would pop up with options like Delete, Move and Label or
something like that. If it was an accessibility feature it would maybe be
done via the rotor, e.g. swipe down or up to get to options like Label,
Delete, Move etc. Then if you double tap on label a simple text box would
come up similar to the custom label feature which would allow you to add a
text label but without changing the actual file name of the picture and
 it's order.

There are a bunch of apps in the app store which allow you to add labels
to pictures, but I think most are meant for sighted people who want to add
artistic tapes, stamps and widges to photos which may or may not contain a
text label. A Google search for Labelling photos in iOS 8 gives you a
number of results and it seems that an app called labelbox is well
regarded and has already been updated to take advantage of iOS 8
extensions. It's a large app, over 100 Mb, and it's free with in-app
purchases. I did download it, but so far have not been able to get
anywhere with it. I guess apps like this which are heavily focused on
visual effects might be more difficult to make accessible and of course
many developers may not even think about that. I wrote to the developer of
Labelbox and mentioned the potential usefulness of his app for blind iOS
users and if I receive a reply I'll post it here.
The main problem with I think all of these apps is that you have to open
the photo in order to see the description and I think what a blind user
really would appreciate is a label which would be read along with the date
the picture was taken when you go through your listing of pictures.

Another app which comes to mind is Photovoice. This has been discussed
before and I believe there might even be something about it on Applevis.
This app allows you to record a voice label in your own voice, but once
again you do have to open the photo in order to play this label. It
basically converts your picture to a small video file in order to allow
for the voice label.. Here is the app store link:

labeling photos

2013-11-15 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi, all. Some time ago someone sent information about how to label photos
with voice over. I know you double tap and hold to bring up the text field,
but can't remember the exact steps. Could someone help refresh my old
memory, please? Do you have to be in the photo before you label? Thanks
very much.

God bless!

RE: labeling photos

2013-11-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You can use the custom label feature of Voiceover. Find the picture you want
to label, do a 2-finger double tap and hold to bring up the custom label
dialogue. Now type the name you want to give the picture in the text box and
then tap Done at the bottom right of the keyboard or Save which is 2 flicks
to the right of the text box.

No, they do not, I think they may even go away or at least used to, if you
move the picture to a different album.

Labeling photos tips

2012-09-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I am posting to macvisionaries and viphone since this question might concern
both.

Did a search on viphone archives and read about photovoice to add audio labels
to your pictures on iphone. IS there an other way to do this so you change the
actual name of the photo in your camera role? I tried renaming a picture in
iphoto on mac but it still showed up on phone with useless img X name.
Assuming I would use photovoice to audio-label, how can I ultimately change
actual photo names?

I use mac with ML and iphone.

Thanks

Ioana
