Hello Janet,

I'm glad you got your iPhone to talk again. Turn the rotor till you come to
sounds and swipe up or down with one finger to toggle sounds on or off. If
you don't hear sounds in your rotor, but you hear other things like hints,
headings, punctuation, etc. go into your settings, go to general,
accessories, and voiceOver. In the voiceOver settings, go to rotor where
you'll see what has actually been selected. If sounds is not among your
rotor selections, double-tap on sounds to put it into your rotor. Hope this
helps.

I think I might know what could possibly be the issue. When speech volume is
set to 0 in the rotor, you wont get speech unless you're using Alex for some
reason. He will speak if the rotor volume is below 5 percent. So here's what
to try. Make sure your phone is unlocked and turn the rotor and flick up
once each time you turn it. I'm not sure how many things you have in your
rotor, but 10 times of turning and flicking up once might get you to the
volume. A lot of people have lost speech and got it back by doing this.
Actually I've given this advice to several people here on this list over the
years and they've had success with it.

Hi Jannet, try to do restart to your iPhone. To me it helps. I have this
issue but it made it for a while but come back for a few times. I think
that you need to report to Apple accessibility for your problem. Try to
deactivate and activate voiceover again and see if it solves the problem.

I think I might know what could possibly be the issue. When speech volume is
set to 0 in the rotor, you wont get speech unless you're using Alex for some
reason. He will speak if the rotor volume is below 5 percent. So here's what to
try. Make sure your phone is unlocked and turn the rotor and flick up once each
time you turn it. I'm not sure how many things you have in your rotor, but 10
times of turning and flicking up once might get you to the volume. A lot of
people have lost speech and got it back by doing this. Actually I've given this
advice to several people here on this list over the years and they've had
success with it.

RE: iPhone not talking

2019-02-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
When it doesn’t talk, have you plugged in a headset to see if it is talking via
the headset, it should be a wired headset.
Most likely somehow the volume drops to 0%, if it talks on the headset make
sure it’s unlocked and on the home screen, then unplug the headset and
repeatedly press the volume up bugton, do this at least 6 or 8 times and see if
you hear Voiceover.

Hi guys, this morning I switched my iPhone on and it was fine for about two
hours. then all of a sudden it has stopped talking to me. I switched it off
and on again and it said portrait and stopped talking again. I have checked
that the speech is on and that the voice over is on and also that it is not
muted. is there anything else I can do before I take it to a shop. the reason
I know things are happening is that I am using a braille display and I can read
what is on the screen. Hope someone has a suggestion, Janet

iPhone not talking

2019-02-05 Thread Janet Bell
Hi guys, this morning I switched my iPhone on and it was fine for about two
hours. then all of a sudden it has stopped talking to me. I switched it off
and on again and it said portrait and stopped talking again. I have checked
that the speech is on and that the voice over is on and also that it is not
muted. is there anything else I can do before I take it to a shop. the reason
I know things are happening is that I am using a braille display and I can read
what is on the screen. Hope someone has a suggestion, Janet
