You can do so by the model number. I would have to Google this again myself,
but you can do this just as easily, just search for "How to check if my iPhone
is new or refurbished" or something like that. The model numbers start with a
certain letters if it is a new or refurbished phone.

Hello Sieghard,

In my case, I was handed the original box from which I removed this device,
said box having the devices ID numbers and such on it's label. This is what
prompted me to ask about the phone as I assumed it would be a refurbished
model. I was told that, had they any refurbished models, then I would have
been given one; however, as it turned out, they did not so, hence my new phone.

Now, as to your statement, I must ask, how on earth did you determine that your
replacement device was, in fact, a refurbished model?

I have been told that my replacement phone was new when in fact it turned out
to be refurbished. I am not saying this is the case with yours, but this has
been my experience in the past. On the other hand it doesn't really matter
because for all intends and purposes an Apple refurbished phone is as good as

Hello All,

Well, I took my 8 Plus into the Genius Bar, today and they quicly determined
that the Lightning port had some bad pins. As a result, just 3 months before
my Apple Care Plus warranty is to expire, I received a brand new iPhone 8 Plus.
They were quick to point out that this is a new phone and not a refurbish one.
 So much the better, eh?

To be honest, I was planning on getting a new phone this coming fall but, if I

Hello Fellow iPhone 8 Users,

For whatever reason that I cannot discern, ever since I updated to the latest
version of iOS, I cannot reliably listen to audiobooks / streaming audio/ or,
some days, even audio sound through the included wired Apple Earpods on my 8
Plus, via the Lightning port.

I have no problem accepting that my phone has a damaged port but my inability
to consistently reproduce the issue gives me great pause. And, "yes," I have
thoroughly cleaned the port and I have tested several different sets of EarPods
on the 8 Plus. For the record, none of my EarPods have this problem on any of
my other devices.

And again, this issue did not occur until after the update.

Ultimately, I will take the phone into Apple, as it continues to be under
warranty but I wanted to post the question here, just to see what kind of
replies I receive.

Yes, I've already called Apple and, true to form, they deny any knowledge of
any such glitch. Please be aware that on the very first day that the 8 series
was released, there was a boot-up problem which I immediately identified and
reported to Apple. They, of course, denied the boot-up glitch until about 1
year later when they finally fixed the problem with a later version of iOS.
They continued to deny the boot-up glitch even after hundreds and hundreds of
reports came in from all across the world. Now the glitch was not devastating
and, in the end, it did not impact the use of the phone to the extent that one
would return it to the store but the glitch existed and Apple denied its
existence. Actually, they did finally admit to the issue about 9 months in but
only to beta testers.

Sometimes I feel as though my beloved 8 Plus is seen as being a second-class
device in the Apple orchard.

My point, just because Ap

I thought it was going to explode or something. it took an hour to go from a
small crack to one big enough for a pencil to go into.

as for a backup I had an encrypted one on my computer, and everything was
flawless, passwords and everything. I am pretty happy with how it turned out
even though it took over a week to resolve, oh and they gave me a loner phone
while mine was being fixed. I have n complaints at all.

As for me, I had about a 2-second scare when I placed my original SIM card in

after about 2 seconds, it did, in fact activate and has been working as
expected ever since.

I'll tell you one thing, it is far better to make an encrypted backup of your
phone via iTunes on a computer, rather than iCloud.

Before I took my phone into Apple, I made both an iTunes and an iCloud backup.
I did this in order to see what kind of differences would be the result when
restored, although I already had a pretty good idea.

Well, to make a long story even longer, I can tell you that only from my iTunes
backup was I able to have apps, no longer available from the App Store be
automatically reinstalled to my device.

RE: Resolution to: RE: A Question to iPhone 8 Users, Regarding Streaming Audio to the Apple EarPods Through the Lightning Port After Updating to the Latest iOS Version

2019-08-13 Thread M. Taylor
Alia,

Wow! That sounds awful.

I'm so glad you finally got up and running with a new device.

As for me, I had about a 2-second scare when I placed my original SIM card in
my replacement phone and was told that it could not be activated. However,
after about 2 seconds, it did, in fact activate and has been working as
expected ever since.

Well, to make a long story even longer, I can tell you that only from my iTunes
backup was I able to have apps, no longer available from the App Store be
automatically reinstalled to my device.

my battery swelled. you should have seen my phone gap grow. it was kind of
frightening! anyway when I took it in I found out it had a recall on the
processor so it was all done free, and when I got it back we or they or my cell
provider couldn’t get a simcard to work in it at all, so I ended up with a
replacement phone. who knows what I have now! what an ordeal.

To be honest, I was planning on getting a new phone this coming fall but, if I

stay with my 8 Plus. We shall see.

I am so glad that I took the phone in and had it checked out.

Subject: A Question to iPhone 8 Users, Regarding Streaming Audio to the Apple
EarPods Through the Lightning Port After Updating to the Latest iOS Version

My point, just because Apple denies knowledge of something, means nothing.

Okay, now that I've got that off my chest, (big smile), that's about all for
now.

All replies greatly appreciated.

I remember reading a post on one of those TechCrunch or The Verge or Lifehacker
sites maybe two weeks ago that gave a cheat sheet on how to tell what type of
iOS device you've got by the first letter the IMEI or serial number starts with.
I off hand don’t' recall exactly how it went, but I'm sure a quick internet
search will bring it up.

Have you tried other headphones with your phone? That might help to see if your
port is damaged. Also if you are using the lightning EarPods, your charger
wouldn’t work if the port was damaged.

RE: A Question to iPhone 8 Users, Regarding Streaming Audio to the Apple EarPods Through the Lightning Port After Updating to the Latest iOS Version

2019-08-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I couldn't have said it better, Alan, and also no issues here on my iPhone 8
although I am on the iOS 13 Beta now for a short time. I had no issues with
wired Earpods, again, I am like you and use them most of the time and I went
through the entire public beta cycle of iOS 12.4 with no problems.

Mark,

I use wired Apple Earpods almost exclusively with my iPhone 8 running iOS 12.4
and have no problems with them. You don't really describe the nature of your
problem and I would think that would be helpful in trying to ferret out the
issue.

Subject: A Question to iPhone 8 Users, Regarding Streaming Audio to the Apple
EarPods Through the Lightning Port After Updating to the Latest iOS Version

My point, just because Apple denies knowledge of something, means nothing.

Okay, now that I've got that off my chest, (big smile), that's about all for
now.

All replies greatly appreciated.

I tried the program again tonight and had to reinstate the internal station

Netatmo users: hold off updating to the latest version

2015-11-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

This morning I had an update to the Netatmo app in my list of updates.

For those who own a Netatmo Weather Station I recommend you hold off
updating the app for now. When I read the description "The app has been
given a new look" I was a bit worried and in fact there seems to be a bit of
a step back since currently Voiceover won't read minimum and maximum
temperatures any more. It does read everything else and it's laid out a bit
differently, but since I was quite involved with the Netatmo head developer
in initially making the app accessible, I want to contact him and bring up
some of these issues. Hopefully their commitment to accessibility is still
there and they will fix these items since I assume it's not that big of a
deal.

Best regards,

Sieghard

RE: Netatmo users: hold off updating to the latest version

2015-11-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Barry,

I actually can’t think of any unlabeled buttons in the last version, could you
give some examples I could pass along?

No, not sure about the warranty. As a retailer myself who sells a lot of higher
end product which comes with various warranties, I must of course say that if
it didn’t survive the winter why you didn’t try to deal with this as soon as
you noticed it wasn’t working. I do also think that is says in the instructions
the outdoor module should of course be outside but that it should be kept out
of direct sunlight (that can skew the temperature reading) and out of the rain
and, by extension I would think it should also be kept out of the snow.

I just brought my rain gauge inside today since while it may still rain a bit
in the next couple of weeks and occasionally throughout other winter months,
for the most part it will snow from now until the end of March and it will
often be below freezing and I just can’t see how it would be good for the rain
gauge if it had mosture inside which would then freeze, thaw, freeze again and
so on.

Regards,

Sieghard

Updating itunes to latest version

2014-02-06 Thread Wendy Alling
Hi all,
I had problems updating itunes to the latest version and had to uninstall
and then reinstall itunes to get it fixed. Now with the latest version
installed, I can't get my songs sorted properly. I want them sorted
alphabetically and I don't see that option. Can someone refresh my memory
on how to sort songs alphabetically? Can you still do this in the latest
version of itunes for windows?

have you tried a control+J? You should be able to tab and find a sort by combo
box.
