RE: utility of an iPad as a productivity tool
I'd like to check this out. I'll be trying on my iPhone, but in Windows 7 with IE8 and JAWS 15, I get to the page, find the Play/Pause button, but nothing happens when I hit either Spacebar or Enter. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Robert Carter Sent: Saturday, December 21, 2013 8:20 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: utility of an iPad as a productivity tool Hi, I love Jazz and recently discovered that one of my favorite Jazz radio programs has a live stream through Stanford University. I recently bought a refurbished ipad mini and really like it for the following reasons. The speakers in it sound so much better than the speaker in my ipod touch 5th generation. With it's larger battery, I get a lot of extra playtime over my ipod touch 5th generation. I mainly use it as my main reading device. -Original Message- From: Joe Sent: Friday, December 20, 2013 8:21 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: utility of an iPad as a productivity tool For a visually impaired person, perhaps. I ended up liking the iPad enough that when the new much faster and thinner iPad Air came out, I gave the iPad 3 back to my department and purchased the iPad Air. I do agree that having both an iPhone and an iPad is a luxury. If I could only afford one, I would choose the iPhone. Having them both is certainly the best of all for me. So a bit of a trade-off between charge time and duration of useage. She still likes it though. Agree about use of mBraille on it, though I sold my 1st gen Mini in favour of a second 4S phone. I can't see enough for the bigger screen to have offered anything useful, so let itgo. Oh, if you use Mbraille, you can type with your fingers straight across the screen. Low vision users often like the larger screen for viewing magnified images or other low-vision apps, but for a blind person that does not matter. RE: utility of an iPad as a productivity tool
For a visually impaired person, perhaps. For a totally blind one, none. I'm going to post about my experiences to my blog soon, but long story short, I just recently gave mine away because for me personally, the iPhone and iPad were redundant. To each his own, but if it's an educational setting with a limited budget, I wouldn't do it. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alex Hall Sent: Friday, December 20, 2013 6:27 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: utility of an iPad as a productivity tool Personally, I don't think the iPad offers anything the iPhone does not in terms of apps.
