I have some thoughts regarding your email delete problem, but I am far from
being an expert.
You said that you have tried the Gmail app. So I assume you have a Gmail
account. If you are using the IMAP email protocol, I think it deletes the mail
from the server and all other devices when you
That's odd. Well, I'm glad you got things sorted now.

Yes, I found it now. For some reason, it wasn't there when I last had
my Gmail account. Re-adding it brought it back; don't ask me how.

What type of account are you using? I don't Think it would in this case, but
sometimes having certain types of accounts can be a hindrance. I have a Gmail
account, and this setting works there. The setting is sort of buried, which may
be why you haven't found it. You have to go to Mail,

Since you said you tried the gmail app I assume you use gmail in which case you
should be able to specify whether your messages are deleted on the server when
you delete on your phone or not. I am not a gamil user, but I think you may
have to go to Mail settings on your iPhone, then double tap

I don't know how to say this any better than I have several times
already: if I move email to the trash on my iPhone, it goes to the
trash on my webmail account too. I need mail to stay in my archive on
webmail and not go to the trash. I have looked for the setting where
you can change where
Couldn't you just emptied the trash? That would seem like it would solve your
space issue. Also, there is a way to change where deleted mail goes in the mail
settings.

But that one is only good for Gmail. So if you have other accounts, at least as
I understand it, inbox by Gmail is not useful.

I use Inbox by Gmail. I like it better than Outlook, because it seems to
allow me to view all messages in a thread better than outlook does.

Folks,
If you are not happy with Mail on iOS 10, short of letting Apple know after
time of general availability, you will be able to remove the icon for the app
from your home screen. Then you can use an app like Outlook as your mail
client. More information on how to remove Mail and other
Alternatively, is there a way to set up how much mail is kept on the
phone at any given time? I know that all of my mail doesn't stay there
forever, but I don't know how/when stuff goes away.

I have been quite happy with the Mail app up and tell the most recent iteration
on iOS 10. So I have the same question. I'm fine with deleting the app sending
it to the trash forever and ever and ever. But I'm looking for something that's
a little bit more efficient and consistent.
