RE: Apple Watch Questions

2019-12-28 Thread Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND
Thanks, Anna. I had set it for 70 seconds, but I didn't realize that dropping
my wrist would override that.

I don't know how others feel about this, but I really wish there would be an
option to turn off the sounds with voiceover as there is on the phone.

Other than that, I am really liking my 5th gen watch.

Pam

Hi Pam,

I don't know of any way to turn off VoiceOver sounds or change how loud they
are. To control how long the watch stays awake, open the Watch app on your
phone, choose General, then Wake Screen. You have the options of it staying on
for 15 or 70 seconds. Choose the option you want. The watch goes to sleep if
you drop your wrist, so don't do that if you want it to stay awake.

Best,
Anna

Re: Apple Watch, questions about answering calls on regular series

2019-07-25 Thread Wayne Merritt
My thoughts exactly. I kept my Series 2 and gave the Series 4 to my
wife, since this is her first smart watch. Previously, she was getting
the extremely cheap/budget watches from Amazon that cost $30, and
usually did not last very long. She's thrilled with her new Series 4
watch. I'm content to wait until September to see what's announced,
and then either get the new Series 5, or get the Series 4 at a
discounted price. By the way, thanks for the replies to my earlier
question.

RE: Apple Watch, questions about answering calls on regular series

2019-07-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Lois,

Do you think it's wise to buy a series 4 now when we are less than 2 month from
most likely a series 5 watch? My wife and I have the series 2 as well and at
this stage I find it frustrating no end because it's so slow, it locks all the
time when I'm in the middle of doing stuff and often I don't even put it on any
more because of all that. We were talking about ordering series 4 watches last
September, then we had lots of other stuff going on and it just wasn't a
priority and at some point we decided we would wait until this fall because in
my opinion the Apple Watch is still a new enough device and category for
significant changes to occur sort of what happened in the first 5 or 6 years of
the iPhone. I certainly would not buy a watch now until I know if there is a
new watch this fall.

Yes you definitely can answer on your watch. It works very well. You won’t have
to worry about any extra charges. The watches that have cellular service, you

I can't tell you the difference as I've never owned a series 2 watch. What I
can say, is that the audio on the watch series 4 is quite easy to hear.

Re: Apple Watch, questions about answering calls on regular series

2019-07-24 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
As long as the watch is in range of your iPhone you can make and receive calls
on your watch. The calls are carried by your phone so there are no extra
charges.

Hello,
All your voiceover settings are found in the watch app on your phone. Open the
watch app on your phone and go to general/accessibility/voiceover. To adjust
the volume of voiceover on your watch do a two finger double tap and hold then
move your two fingers up or down on the screen.

RE: apple watch questions

2017-01-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Stephanie,

I wonder if the vibrations you describe happen when you double tap the screen?
In Watch OS 3 if the screen is locked and you double tap you get the time
silently via vibrations. Right now it is 11:01 AM, if I, for example, double
tap my watch right now I get one long vibration which indicates 10 O’Clock,
then I get one short one which means 1 hour past 10, then there is a brief
pause and then I get a single short vibration which indicates 1 minute. If it
were 11:13 AM I would get the long and the short for 11 O’clock then a pause
and then one more long (every 10 minutes is indicated by a long vibration) and
then 3 short to indicate 3 minutes so 13 minutes in total.

Complications are apps in a way, but not all apps can be complications.
Complications are those items or apps you can add to a watch face, e.g. the
time, date, apps like weather, Phone, timer, stop watch etc.
If you customize a watch face either in the watch app on your phone you find
that most watch faces can have either 3 or 5 complications you can customize
and each one has a list of items/apps to choose from.

Sieghard

Re: apple watch questions

2016-03-27 Thread Chuck Dean
Hi, I have the 38 mm stainless steel watch with the stainless steel
Milanese band. I like it a lot! It is, however, a fairly expensive watches
as it cost $705 delivered.

I got the 38 mm because I have small wrists, and the 42 mm would have been
too big on my arm.

I was originally considering buying the gold watch, until I saw the price
tag.

The thing I like most about my watch, is it prevents me from pulling my
iPhone out of my pocket 50 to 60 time today. I can check the time, weagher,
stock quotes, my calendar etc. etc. on the watch. I also had an app RSS on
Watch which I really enjoy. It gets me small news blurbs from all around
the world from all sorts of different feeds.

I also use Apple Pay almost every day.
Good luck!

Chuck

Re: apple watch questions

2016-03-27 Thread Jenny Wood
Hi Sarai,

I received the Apple Watch Sport for Christmas, and love it so far. I have the
smallest model, which I personally like, because I can’t imagine having
anything bigger on my wrist. I have the silicon band, but I wouldn’t mind
getting a woven nylon band one day.

RE: apple watch questions

2016-03-27 Thread Merv Keck
I got the sport with the smaller screen. I think they call that the 38 mm.
size. The band that comes with it has a very plastic feel but they make a lot
of other bands that can be purchased as well. I am very surprised at how light
this feels. It is so light and fits so snug against my arm I honestly forget
that it is there. Now let's see how long it takes them to come out with a new
generation of Apple Watch since I just got mine. Laughs!

Hi,
I purchased the sport on Friday, two days ago, and so far I am enjoying it

The Sport works great for me because the price was right since Apple cut it to

Re: Apple Watch Questions

2015-08-14 Thread Brent Harding
As for NFB Newsline, probably not until they make a watch app. As for
starting and stopping with the NLS app, I would have to check that out. Some
phone apps allow you to use the play and stop controls, and some don't. I
recall having Netflix or Hulu switch to a seemingly random song when I hit
those buttons.

Subject: Apple Watch Questions

I have not yet gotten to an Apple Store or Bestbuy for a hands-on with the
watch. My questions here are because I am not sure they will have staff
knowledgeable enough in the areas of concern to me, and maybe someone here
will be kind enough to help.

I have two apps I really use a lot on my phone. One is the NFB NewsLine app.
Will I be able to swipe and flick on the watch screen to read a paper. I am
pretty sure there is not an app for the watch yet

Likewise, I use NLS BARD Mobile. I haven't checked for a watch app in some
time, but don't recall hearing of one. Will I still be able to start/stop
reading on the watch face.

I am not really sure how the watch works in terms of requiring an app or
just being able to operate the iDevice remotely. Many thanks for any
assistance.

Eric

Re: Apple Watch Questions

2015-08-14 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

The Now Playing screen on the watch will let you start and stop playback of
BARD Mobile once you've started playback in the app on your phone. The Rewind
and Fast Forward buttons take you to the previous and next section. There's no
way to hold down those buttons to rewind or fast forward in small increments,
though, the way you can do with the buttons on the phone or with the controls
on your headphones.

Best,
Anna
