I think you can freely ditch the /var/spool/cups directory if you like (I've done this on servers --- but not because I'd ever encountered a corrupt one). To recreate it, all you need are these two directories: drwx--x--- root lp /var/spool/cups/ drwxrwx--T root lp /var/spool/cups/tmp/
