You can always play dumb and pretend you are on windows when you are on a mac,
that will waste several minutes of their time trying to walk you through how to
switch on remote access for them (or whatever it is they want you to do), when
you sense their frustration levels rising you tell them
Have you got a spare modem/router that you can try instead of the one you are
currently using? Also it will be worth logging into your modem and checking if
its internal firewall is switched on, if its on turn it off and retest your
browser.
