my setup:
old mac clone with os9.1
g4 powerbook with os x.8
i'm that far that from the powerbook i can login as user (same name
password as in os91 logon)
a window opens and shows all harddisk available
now if i click onto one of the hd's it gets greyed out but i cannot
find the icon
did anyone ever came across this:
Safari seems to be the Web-browsing choice of a new generation,
leaving the good-for-its-time Internet Explorer far behind and
relegating Mozilla and derivatives to experimental use. But are you
getting the most out of Safari or just using the bare minimum
in my case
after loading the webpage, i had the offer to download the video,
which i did (Bono's speech)
95meg later i unzipped the movie to a m4v file which played fine in
quicktime.

in 1979 i bought an appleII+, 32kB ram, used it for 5 years
1984 a apple IIc came onto my table, was in service for 10 years with
upgrades to 128kB ram, 4 disk drives, clock microsoft basic card
(is actually still working)
1994 mac classic (b/w screen)
just a general hint:
if you use the laptop w/o battery, you should borrow a ups to secure
constant 240v supply, the battery serves partly as spike catcher thus
your laptop is more stable with battery inserted...
w/o battery the laptop reacts on variations spikes in the power supply

i made the jump to os tiger.7
result i lost a lot of comercial/expensive software .had to !buy!
upgrades in the range of total nearly $1000.-
so check first if all you progs are tiger-proof or if you can get
updates/upgrades for an reasonable price
you may consider 10.3.9
i normally close the lid again, wait a few seconds to see the
breathing light in the lock button, then open again and hit a key
bear in mind tiger is a sluggish animal (as from my
