I'm surprised that the first one to come to my mind hasn't been mentioned. William Christopher, best known as Father Mulcahy on MASH. He portrayed a doctor and an IRS agent on TAGS, but was one of Gomer's marine buddies. If I recall correctly, his character's name was Hummel.
