I have spent a lot of time thinking about life in Mayberry prior to 1960.
It is probable that Andy and Barney were the same age because they talk
about having the same teachers in school. Also they both supposedly graduated
in 1945, according to the first class reunion sign.

I was watching the final season of Gomer Pyle USMC last night. In the episode
where Sgt. Carter visits his mother in Witchita, his mothers house looks
strangely likes Andy's house on the outside! It had a different color of paint
but that was the front porch for sure!

I've always wondered how Andy got the stains off his uniform when Virgil
knocked the roast onto Andy's lap. When Barney is ready to go out the front
door, Andy's uniform is clean. I always thought it would have been funny if

Yesterday my sister and I visited the George W. Bush presidential library
center in Dallas and I must tell you that I was certainly pleased to see our
beloved sheriff listed on the Medal of Honor display; there was even a photo of
him receiving that gorgeous award from Pres Bush himself. I felt
Black and White vs.. Color? and Andy's Anger.
Still it was all so real. No episodes contrived, all very true situations in
life.
I think the writers sensing the change of times, were doing their best to
keep up with it since the show was supposed to be taking place in present
times
. It seems whenever
Andy's busy or not feeling well, or even having to sleep in the daytime, the
whole down seems to machine gun him with numerous problems or one big one.
Goober seems to be the worst offender, and Warren would've had anyone's stress
level up, especially in the bingo episode.

When the Taylors got ready to leave for Mayberry, Aunt Bee bought Opie and
Andy a matching set of shorts and short sleeve shirts. Andy and Opie tried
them on. That was a little startling to see Andy's bare arms. Do any of
you remember another time when Andy wore a short sleeve shirt? I
Andy's bowling shirt was short sleeved so we saw him in that. Seems to me
I remember him sitting on the porch one time in short sleeves, but I cannot
remember which episode it was.
I think he always wore long sleeves because he had knobby elbows.

Hey, Mayberry friends. All the talk about Andy's old home being demolished
brought this to my mind. I posted this before but it's been 3-4 yrs. ago so
maybe our newer members may enjoy reading this. We spent a week at NC's Outer
Banks on a summer vacation in 2009, and it's a great place

turned into a museum. But, after some considerable thought, it made perfect

1 episode 22) on YouTube. I was shocked and appalled at the blooper I saw!
Goober was selling shoes door-to-door and went up to Andy's house. There was a
