Was it the episode where the women kind of go on strike and Mrs Campbell
wouldn't iron Otis' clothes, causing him to burn his shirt?

The other night I was watching the Results show for Dancing with the Stars.
One celebrity and her dancing partner have been rumored to be dating. They
had a rough round the night before and were very sad. Also they wouldn't
confirm or deny they were an item. Then on the Results show they found
Ben's post about mothers represented in Mayberry made me think of two of my
favorite mother references. The first one being Fluffy who, despite being
in full view of her kittens, climbed out on to the roof. I love how Andy
says, you know how you feel seeing your mother on the roof. Then there

Besides Mrs Sprague and Mayor Stoner the only other place I can remember is
seeing the name Andrew Jackson Taylor in the yearbook when Barney was
moving his trunk. I think somehow Andy just fits the character better
though.

Johnna, I think Winkin, Blinkin and Nod are great names for your cats.
Although a cat was originally blamed for the demise of their mother, it was
vindicated so I don't think the original songbirds would mind sharing their
names at all.

This may have been mentioned before, but I just noticed in the episode where
Otis was descended from a war hero, Barney and Andy are standing in front of
Dave's Coffee Shop. It seems like Mayberry had quite a few establishments.

Ken, I think you cornered the Mayberry smells. The only other one I could
think of was Miss Jennifer when she mentioned Andy must have come from the
barber shop because she smelled the witch hazel. She had a good head on her
shoulders, if she just wasn't so boy-crazy.

Last night I was listening to radio station KAAM and heard a familiar
voice. It was Andy Griffith doing a promo for the morning show.
He mentioned little Opie's breakfast wouldn't be complete without
listening. If anyone lives around the Dallas area, you might catch it
also. I thought it was

Ken, I have an idea that might help with your visiting relatives. Just tell
them that due to space restraints, they'll have to adventure sleep. If
they're unaware of what that entails, then you can explain it's on an
ironing board between two chairs. That's bound to make someone think twice
One of my all time favorite lines is uttered by Andy, when Barney gets
anxious about Luke Comstock coming to town and Andy is called out to get
Fluffy off the roof. Andy says, Fluffy's got kittens, and you know how
you'd feel seeing your mother on the roof. My favorite line by Barney is
Boooy,
Like Col. Tim, there are so many one time characters that are so great they
make a major impression. Two of my favorites are Clarence Earp and his
manager. I know I've mentioned before that the line Besmerch the name of
Earp is one of my favorites because somehow when you speak these words
Harriet those were great lines! I'd add Citizens Arrest, Citizens
Arrest and several from another great one time character The Pawnee, I
lived among them - they're devils and What time do the Indians eat? Oh,
most any time - 6:30 - quarter to seven.

Ken, you raise some interesting points about Barney as a Deputy. My theory
is that Andy knew Barney well and what he could eventually become. It
just took 15 or 20 years for Barn to become it (I'm not considering the
Return to Mayberry movie). In my mind, Barney caught on and became a
Some of my favorite serious lines are: 1st episode when Aunt Bee is leaving
and talks about how she wished she could do all the things Opie likes, while
her and Andy are looking in at him sleeping. When after Andy sends Opie
and Aunt Bee away while he waits for Luke Comstock, the tension is very
1. Goober and Flora ever got married? In my mind they did and enjoyed
spending time with Gomer and Lou Ann.
2. When Andy and Helen moved back to Mayberry, they were able to buy the
Williams house? The white one with all the big trees? If I remember
correctly, Opie was living in the house he grew
On my way into work, I saw one of those little hybrid cars. It was red and
looked kinda like a space pod. Then I noticed the license plate said
Shazaam and I realized if Gomer were to have got a look at that car,
that's exactly what he'd have said.

What more could he want?
Well, interest in a prune pitting operation would be nice. He'd have to
take a look at that.
Then there's the option of a skinny widow, who owns a bread truck.

Also the Minister who forgave Aunt Bee for wearing a wig.
That's a good question about Mayberry After Midnight. I guess that
newspaper column was ahead of it's time too.

Other possible late night Mayberry activites might be: Aunt Bee getting up

All the Mayberry activities people have written about sound like such fun.
I'd add going to that boiled dinner at the fire house, I always wondered
what exactly was being boiled - taters, cabbage, MEAT? Also helping Andy
try to coax Fluffy down from the roof. For some reason those things have
Sylvia asked about Goober and Howard growing up in Mayberry. I believe they
