Automated system
To my entire Gmail list -- I'm so sorry, but I absolutely did NOT send my list an invitation to join MyChurch. After I joined, I was prompted to look through my address book to see if anyone was already a member. When I saw no one was, I navigated away from the invitation page and absolutely never hit the invite button. I am quite upset as I just clicked back on the home page and it said 103 invitations have been sent - so my entire Gmail address book was hit. My apologies, but I never hit the invite button and have no idea how that happened. My contact list says 23 people on Gmail - I have no idea who the other 80 people are the automated system contacted. Again, my apologies. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Pettiness in Mayberry
I can see both sides of this one. As a legality, Andy does certainly have the right to protect his name, and to see his name used for political purposes would be one of those cases where I can see why he would want to step in. I had someone make mocking, derogatory images of my website and post them to a Mayberry list, and I certainly made every effort to squelch that. But when you see folks in Mayberry acting petty and heavy handed because they THINK someone MIGHT be POSSIBLY getting in on a little of their action, it is ugly to see them turn petty and even vindictive. It certainly is not the way Andy would have handled things on the show, is it? Too bad real life rarely imitates The Andy Griffith Show. Maybe Hollywood has taken its toll on more folks than just Andy... Flora Subject: Such goin' ons. Such goin' ons. I don't intend to sound blasphemous about this, but it grieves me deeply that Andy Griffith would handle the case of the Wisconsin name-changer-sheriff-candidate the way he apparently has. C'mon, Andy, with all due respect, couldn't you just think back to how Andy Taylor might have dealt with such a trivial matter as this?Maybe Hollywood has taken its toll on you. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Re: Warren
To me Warren's character was just plain annoying (I know, I am treading on one of the rules, but he ASKED!) However, I have often thought if they had downplayed Warren's role and focused more on the other citizens, working Warren in where he would be an ensemble player but not such a major role like Barney was, then he might have worked in more naturally to the fabric of life in Mayberry and not been such a glaring addition. Just MHO. Hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing! Flora in Nashville http://www.ChristianActivities.com/mayberry Subject: Warren To: WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 There has always been criticism of Warren Fergerson, and the comment --it just didn't work out. Can anybody tell me of any actor--past present---that could have replaced Don Knotts (Barney). My answer is there is none--not even David Browning. It's kinda like trying to replace Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright) on Bonanza--it couldn't be done! I have watched all the Warren episodes, and I feel he was very good. He was playing Deputy Warren Fergerson--not Deputy Barney Fife. Does anyone agree with me, or am I out in right field on this.? Re: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 3, Issue 67
I just got back from the Dove Awards (list of winners at: http://www.christianactivities.com/gma), and this year when they introduced the nominees and announced the winners, they would cut to past awards ceremonies with past presenters saying, And the award for ... goes to ... When it was time for the Female Vocalist of the year, one of the presenters they cut to twice was Andy Griffith! I don't know if that will be edited out or not for the telecast (check your local listings), but tonight at the awards show they showed Andy saying, And the nominees are... and And the winner is... I was so excited I exclaimed, That's Andy Griffith! rather loudly! Re: Barney loses Thelma Lou at the high school reunion
I can't help it - I am partial to Nettie. Alberta Walker who played Nettie went on to play Flora Malherbe who was Goober's girlfriend in the color episodes. If Barn hadn't had a little chemistry with Nettie, then Goober might have never had Flora as a girlfriend! But I have to agree, it was a rather shallow flip flop for Barney Flora http://www.geocities.com/barbieintn/Alberta_Nelson_as_Flora.html Subject: Barney loses Thelma Lou at the high school reunion I watched that episode this week, and as much as I like TAGS, I've always disliked that episode, not for the fact that Thelma Lou married (frankly Barney deserved it for abandoning her). But rather for Barney abruptly getting over his grief because a woman he barely knew (Nettie) came on to him. It's shallow writing and it makes it seem as Thelma Lou and all those years together meant nothing to Barney. Re: Mapping New Members
I wanted to welcome our newest members and invite you to post your locations on our Andy Griffith Show Fans map at http://www.frappr.com/theandygriffithshowfans. 225 of our members have put themselves on the map so far, and it has been very interesting to watch the map fill up. The slide show and shout out sections are a fun way to meet fellow TAGS fans. Because there is so much info on our map now, it does take it a little while to fully load, and you have to wait for the link to show up under the map that lets you ask for all 225 pins to load. Right now that link is kind of small and loads up directly under the map. Frappr keeps improving, adding and rearranging features, so every time I get a chance to check back, the map looks totally different! Mayberry Poetry
Kenneth G. Anderson is the only person who responded to my challenge to write a poem about Mayberry places so far, but he wrote a doozy! Re: Star Wars and Mayberry (Danny Taylor)
Don't forget about Princess Crump! From: Danny Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Star Wars and Mayberry The small sleepy planet of Mayberry is on edge of the known galaxy and is sunny and pleasant. It has lakes, rivers, trees and everything Mayberry. Andy still carries no weapons but Barney has a blaster, but Andy wont let him keep the power pack installed. He has to carry the power pack in his pocket. Barney is always installing the power pack anyway and accidently blasting things. Barney likes to show off his highly polished blaster to Asa who has an old corroded blaster with missing screws. Asa tells Barney that he has heard about his blaster. The State Troopers are like Jedi knights and carry Lightsabres and are going from planet to planet catching crooks and generally helping keep the peace When the State Jedi Troopers drop off a famous prisoner (Like say one of the Hutts) at Mayberry for a short time, Barney treats them like royalty. Mt Pilot and Raleigh are bigger, close by planets that have some action and Barney likes to go there sometimes. Anyone feel free to join in where they can and hang on.
