To me Warren's character was just plain annoying (I know, I am treading on one of the rules, but he ASKED!) However, I have often thought if they had downplayed Warren's role and focused more on the other citizens, working Warren in where he would be an ensemble player but not such a major role like Barney was, then he might have worked in more naturally to the fabric of life in Mayberry and not been such a glaring addition. Just MHO. Hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing!
