[Bug 44864] Translatable category is added to all its translation pages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44864 --- Comment #10 from Seb35 seb35wikipe...@gmail.com --- I wonder if it is a bug, since it behaves exactly as it should ;-) apart the header message on mw:Category:MediaWiki Introduction/kl says: This page is a translated version of a page and the translation is 0% complete. (NB: one word is missing: the name of the original page Category:MediaWiki Introduction). The header message tpt-translation-intro is intrepreted as wikitext, so the is interpreted as it. If you set up a translation on an image (File:) you get the image displayed -- by comparison the translation of Category: pages (quite perfect imho) is a lot nicer than the translation of File: pages (perhaps even it should be hard-disabled on File: pages imho, at least for now). The solution for this bug is then to escape the link with a colon at the start, following what is done on MediaWiki:Translate-tag-page-desc. I am about to submit the corresponding Gerrit patch. I have some questions on it; I comment these on Gerrit since it’s linked to the resolution. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51277 --- Comment #12 from Theopolisme theopolismew...@gmail.com --- Sorry for the bugspam. Now that I've had some sleep, it's probably best to unify the two solutions -- in other words, hijack the link via JavaScript (if JavaScript is enabled) to check for cookies and then redirect. If JS is not available we could either a) just reload the page and do the check for the mobileaction==toggle_view_desktop before every page load and warn them about cookies if necessary, or b) take them to a special page which would check for cookies/display warning if necessary/etc. B is probably more failsafe and would keep us from having to check before every page load, but then again A seems quite a bit easier. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 58793] [Regression] Previously valid fullurl with empty article name now broken
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58793 --- Comment #7 from Bartosz Dziewoński matma@gmail.com --- (In reply to comment #6) I would love to have a Special:Diff/117674067 syntax instead. Similar to Special:Permalink/117674067. But currently there is no better way to link to a diff. A patch for this is pending: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/63395/ . It needs some work, though. Argument #1: It doesn't really matter if you call it a hack. It worked. It did what it was supposed to do. Now it does not work any more. The change broke existing pages. No, that did not do what it was supposed to – in fact, it wasn't supposed to work the way you used it. I have already asked about the magnitude of the problems this caused in comment 3 and have yet to receive an answer, but given that I haven't heard any other reports that magnitude is rather small. Argument #2: A should always be treaded as a core function and never as a template, no matter what's written after the colon. Currently it tries to transclude a non existing Template:Fullurl:, Template:Fullurl:: or worse. This is confusing. This might be a valid complaint. The behavior, however, is consistent with the behavior of other magic words when they are called incorrectly; if we want it changed, I think it should be done in a separate bug. Argument #3: All these are valid URLs: https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=de:Wikipedia:Hauptseite https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=Wikipedia:Hauptseite https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=: https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title= https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=de:Wikipedia:Hauptseitediff=117674067 https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=Wikipedia:Hauptseitediff=117674067 https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=:diff=117674067 https://de.wikipedia.org/w/?title=diff=117674067 That's not true, the third one now results in a Bad title error. The seventh one only works because the 'title' parameter is ignored when 'diff' is given. Let me also note that in the fourth one the empty 'title' parameter is filled with the 'Main Page' title (which is why visiting https://de.wikipedia.org/; works). Therefor all these calls of the fullurl function should create the same valid URLs as shown above: {{fullurl: requires a valid title, and and ':' are not valid titles. As I mentioned, we could add a hack to make that work, but I'd rather not (without at least assessing the impact, see comment 3). [Bug 52053] AbuseFilter doesn't set any of the moved_to... variables anymore
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52053 Sorawee Porncharoenwase nullzero.f...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||nullzero.f...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from Sorawee Porncharoenwase nullzero.f...@gmail.com --- I confirmed that Thai Wikipedia also has this bug. Today I write a filter to prevent all moves from one namespace to another namespace with some exceptions. After testing, I found that almost every move is caught by the filter because moved_from_namespace != moved_to_namespace is always true, as moved_to_namespace is unset. To be honest, I think that this bug is severe because all filters using this variable will not be functional. Imagine some wikis have a filter which is similar to the filter I tried to write today long ago. After some updates, moved_to_namespace is not functional; consequently, the filter blocks all moves. If it is hard to fix this problem, it would be nice to have a patch temporarily removing the non-functional variables. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
