Yes, we see 6-8db fluctuations during temperature changes... but that's
an 18ghz frequency thing, not specific to Trango. We also saw the same
changes with our Dragonwave 18ghz links.

RPS is off. We learned this lesson early on.
I've been pinging the other side all night and I'll see a few packets
get through occasionally. 200 packets made it through out of 2
last night.
Still hoping someone has some ideas!
Never mind about the few packets getting through. I think that is
just OSPF changes and it seeing the other end of the link.

Members and WISP followers,
We would like to better understand some of the challenges that many of you
face on a daily basis as we continue to fine tune the Regional Meeting
Agenda. As you know the 1st Regional Meeting is scheduled for July 21st and
22nd in St. Louis. We have been pleasantly
Anyone had any issues with a GFCI outlet (not breaker) tripping? I've
had several outages on this tower and want to stop it. Personally, I
dont think the GFCI is necessary as the box is in a class 6 NEMA
enclosure. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Any chance RF Energy is getting in to the wiring? I had a GFCI breaker with
a coiled cord trip every time I would use my VHF ham radio gear.

Rick,
You've done a fantastic job getting great vendors, putting together a
wonderful track, and a beautiful hotel venue!
Being a Mom Pop WISP has made it a real challenge to get away from
town, ESPECIALLY during thunderstorm season. I'm keeping my fingers
crossed the weather is kind and I can
Anything is possible. It's a metal enclosure. The only thing in it is
a UPS, small switch, and the two, small transformers that power them.
Short pigtails lead to the LP's which connect to the coax on the
outside of the box. I'm debating whether to replace the GFCI or talk
the owner into letting
I am also trying to figure out a way to get there. Between the weather and
other variables it's hard to make an early commitment. If I can go it will be a
last minute decision. I think you might find out that other people may be in
the same predicament.

If the current flow is different between hot and neutral it will trip.
Some things to look for:
Loose neutral wire on the outlet or in the breaker box. Yes, it can
be at either end.
Attached device leaking current to ground.
A little bit of water somewhere. I have on in my house
Good deal Jeremie. I know the unpredictable weather can toss curve balls at
our businesses this time of year. I had surmised that quite a few operators
would not be able to make the decision till the last minute. I'm just
trying to get a feeling of whether people are writing this event off or
I recommended the show to alex with axxcelera. Not sure what his decision is.

There is a big difference in the quality of GFI outlets. Menards has GFI
outlets for $6 and they have ones for $30. The $6 are the old story. You
get what you pay for.

We have had problems over the years at sites using GFCI's. In all cases we
removed them and hardwired the equipment.
Way too many service interuptions with them in place.
Obviously you need to maintain code but there are always ways around it.

GFCI's around here trip every time the lightning flashes.
I won't use them to power radio gear.

They may have saved your gear tho. We do use them on installs in industrial
yards, ports, etc. and there I'm quite sure they saved several camaeras,
swiches and power supplies from an untimely demise.

1. From our experience doing shows, the 500 mile radius drive in crowd will
wait until the last possible minute to book - heck, many will decide the day
before whether or not they can attend - in addition, we've found that almost
30-40% of your sign-ups will come in
Check the install. GFCI is ground fault. It should always trip if the
ground is open. If not tripping, there is another ground path.

With total and absolute respect for the board, we had an online discussion

The timing is also weird because the summer, at least for me, is the

There's a cheap way to get to Vegas from anywhere in the US, especially at
that time of the year.

I voted for Las Vegas as well. If you can find a time when things aren't
busy (in Vegas), stuff is really cheap.
