These guys have a software defined radio using Wimax 802.16e, that will go

FDD could be a good thing. Separate transmit and receive would allow you to
deal with white space channels that are not contiguous. With separate TX and
RX you could actually make use of the first adjacent channels. The HAAT
rules and power/antenna gain limits apply to transmitters. If you have
that bad, we can all work
towards making the best of these changes and start working them to the WISP
advantage. The people who become the most successful are the ones who

One idea that we could all think about is separate transmit and receive
frequencies. WISP's are so used to half duplex radio systems they sometimes
forget about that concept. This would allow you to make use of non
contiguous channels and your latency would be real low.

So just let the market pressures dictate this. A WISP can switch upstream
providers if they are being treated unfairly. It may not be cheaper but they
have that right. Upstream providers are in the business of selling bandwidth
