Because these aren't built yet, the image in my mind is for us to
stick up above the blades...meaning the windmill tower itself would
be higher than it normally would be, or we'd add an extension to make
it so. Well, maybe that's an unrealistic daydream.

The SPA942 is a great phone for the money (not quite as nice as the Polycom
501 which isn't much more $. Regardless of which you use, an Asterisk PBX
is the easiest and best solution for a system that size. Not only can
connect your SIP handsets and 4 analog sets, you can build an IAX or SIP
trunk to a provider such as Triad Telecom for SIP origination and
termination. Let me know if you need any help.

Sorry to be off topic here folks, but I trust all but one of you. :)

I am looking for a small office VoIP phone system. It needs to support
at least 4 Analog (outside) phone lines and at least 16 or so SIP based
phones. Most of the Phones will be on a LAN in the building with about 4
phones off-site.

I was looking at the LInksys SPA9000 coupled with the SPA400 to do this
but I am always leery of Linksys stuff.

Can any of you lead me in the right direction? Off list is fine and I
can put together some synopsis when I get everyones info.

thanks!

They had the nerve to tell us basically the same as your letter but in our
case the actually disassociated numbers and business (when someone tried to
call) were receiving "this number is no longer in service"
OH THIS WENT OVER WELL let me tell ya

And of course NUVIO recites the same rhetoric."we are not experiencing
network issues"

Lets get in touch to find out what is going on.

Any idea when Nuvio is going resolve the call routing and
voice quality issues which have plagued the Nuvio service
over the past couple weeks? Our subscribers are dropping
like flies. The problem is not with our network as our subs
are switching to other VoIP providers and their service is
working flawlessly.

It could be that Nuvio isn't watching Level(3) as L3 changes it's BGP
tables twice a day.
Or it could be they are experiencing outages.
TW Cable had a statewide DNS failure on Friday (all day).
XO had a bad outage this week.
Could be a billing issue.
Could be lots of things

I am sorry for this off-topic post but I need a favor. I need to know
what e-commerce solution works best for an application where a company
has several sales people/outlets and we need to track sales by each
agent's referring web site. All transactions will go through one
shopping cart and merchant account. Ideally we would like for the
referring web address of the agent to automatically populate the agent
identification data field of the sales report generated as each agent
will have their own unique web address. I would like for agents to be
able to see their sales via a web login database. Is this something that
a merchant account will track for you? I would assume I would need to be
able to track sales locally on the shopping cart end and be able to
reference merchant account data to make sure it all balances. This will
be my first e-commerce site and it is a big one. We need to track sales
by agent for commissions. Can anyone help with this? I will gladly pay
for consulting if this is complicated to setup. I just need help and
have very little e-commerce background. Please send me your thoughts on
this off list. I am sorry for off-topic post.
Thank you,

Hey folks,

I thought I would see if there was anyone left to "maybe" help me out
with these expenses. I hate to ask for money, but I really need some
help!! So many of you have been excellent and I (we) appreciate all of
you so much. We are still plugging away down on the coast installing
gear and have been without stop since the second day after Katrina hit
8-29-05. Jeffery Allen and Don Castella have been at the Helm for the
last two weeks allowing me to try to catch up on some "WAY PAST DUE"
contracts here at home as well as network trouble.

We have enabled thousands to connect to the internet, installed a
multitude of VoIP phones and rebuilt, cleaned up hundreds and hundreds
of PCs and notebooks, installed an OS on almost all of them and now I
have been asked to provide internet access to a whole city Govt in Pass
Christian before leaving the area. I did take on that responsibility
once it was explained to me that the satellite people are going to
charge them $6K for next months service starting on the 1st of next
month. The city is broke (and so am I) and has no tax base right now as
everyone/everything has been washed away. I know that the city will get
some funds sooner or later, but who knows when?

I have an 18 wheeler trailer down in Bay St. Louis that has to be
returned here to Monroe. La and the tractor to pull it will cost me
another $750.00 to get it home as thats what I paid to get it pulled
down there. I also have to pay rent on that wagon as it was just donated
for 1 month and we have been using it for two months. I also have a
$1600.00 cell phone bill that is going to eat my ass alive!! I also
bought 4 more Tranzeo TR6000's APs and antennas out of my pocket to
complete the coverage in BSL and Waveland as well as the Port of
Bienville where a lot of the people work and the businesses out there
are yet to have any connectivity until we completed that link. I was
going to let Hancock County come get me in a helicopter today (as they
offered)(to keep from spending an additional $200.00 in gasoline) but I
have too much stuff down there that I need to haul back home in my
pickup truck.

I have been trying to "wind" this thing down, but the need is still
everywhere. The whole city of Pearlington has two (2) working BellSouth
phones in it that I know of and I will be damned if I will allow that to
be. If you guys could help me out I will see to it that these people are
taken care of. I said early on that I would loose my pride and ask for
help - - I generally would eat dirt before asking for help, but the
circumstances are out of my hands and I am just "tapped out" of funds.

Anyones financial help would be greatly appreciated - -except for RICK
HARNISH!! He has already donated GREATLY and I appreciate you Rick. You
have a heart made out of Gold and a compassion for folks that is bigger
than you are. I have a PayPal account set up and when this is all over I
am going to take the time to sit down and put all this into words along
with personal thanks to all who have kept us going. All the donations of
gear from manufacturers have made this campaign a success as well and
Trango Broadband is the biggest single gear donater of all. Pacific
Wireless has provided 90% of the antennas. They just came up with all
the gear I needed to heat up the Pass Christian city Govt!

If any of you take offense at my asking for donations - - - please
accept my humble apologies, but I can take any crap and wise cracks you
can dole out - - its about the people down there!!

I will no longer hookup ME systems unless I can use DHCP with a

Here is what ?I sent...

Auctioning off the TV channels is not acceptable to us.

We are a rural WISP supplying 20,000 homes with ABSOLUTLY no other option.
These frequency are vital in the non line of site issues facing WISP today.
900MHz is simply not as effective as once thought. Our biggest hurdle is
the natural, beautiful landscape that makes living in the country so
attractive. Our options to solve the problems are to put up towers. Trying
to put in more towers makes no sense as there could never be enough of them
to properly penetrate these vibrant green hillsides. We need the TV
frequency. The physics of the frequencies making up the over the air
television bands make them ideal for broadband deployment.

The goal in America is Fiber to the home. Weather it is physical fiber or
wireless fiber makes no difference, just put us on the same playing field.

WISP have proven their salt. Most recently with the hurricane disasters
relief efforts, and having the ability to bring in, in some places, the
absolute only services (VOIP & Internet)to help locate and reunite the
devastated victims in the most trying of situations.
We are experienced, we are determined, we are professional. We are what make
up rural Americas connectivity. Hardworking entrepreneurial men and women
willing to do what big business would say does not make economic sense.
We went into rural areas deemed unprofitable by the RBOC's.
Are rural Americans just to sit back and let technology pass them by just
because of the location they choose live. We have shown it can be
accomplished effectively, efficiently and at a cost all can afford.

Do not ties our hands, Help us help Rural America. Give WISPs these unused
television channels and we will get broadband access to every American near
and far.

If you are on other lists please forward this message to every
unlicensed list you know of so we get 100% of this industry to do this
PLEASE! This will take about 5 minutes of your time and it may make
history for our industry.

The FCC has had an open Notice of Proposed Rulemaking" called 04-186 -
Unlicensed Operation in the TV Broadcast Bands. They have tried to stall
this proceeding out because the NAB - National Association of
Broadcasters does not want anyone to use TV channels but them. In fact
the NAB has even stooped to putting out propaganda in the form of a
video docu-drama portrayal of a Grandma who cannot watch TV because the
evil unlicensed operators were messing up her TV reception with their
demonic unlicensed broadband operations (ok I embellished a bit).

Here is the deal. If we lose this fight it is not going to be over a
lame video showing a grandma losing her TV stations from our efforts. I
am gonna kick some NAB ass before I let that happen.

GO RIGHT NOW TO:
http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/upload_v2.cgi

A from will appear magically in your web browser. Fill in the blanks
with your contact information. Use the guide below for specific lines to
help you with items you may not know how to fill in correctly.

1) Where it says "Proceeding" type in 04-186
2) For the "Mail Correspondence to" line click on "Name".
4) and 5) Leave Blank
11) Check "Late Filed" check box.
12) Select the drop down for "Statement for the Record"

The other lines not listed above are things like your name which I will
assume you guys have covered. :-)

Then type your comments about why you need those TV channels for
broadband. Give good reasons and do not argue with the FCC. Just tell
them why you need the channels. Use good grammar, use correct spelling,
be as good a writer as you can even if it is only one sentence. I want
to see 500 comments from the WISP industry on this NPRM over the next 5
days. Let's bury them in so many comments in support of this NPRM that
the FCC cannot deny us this ruling.

Here are some thoughts that may help motivate you to do this right now:

How would you like to serve up broadband that operates in 100% of the
proposed theoretical coverage area around your AP with no significant
line of sight issues? How would you like to use common off the shelf
cable modem type devices with minor modifications as CPE for these new
magical APs? Then pay attention and do what I ask right now and do not
try to micro-manage this effort. Just speak up right now! Today! Not
tomorrow! We need solidarity on this one. Let's get it right and get the
message out loud and clear right now.

Be prepared to hear negative comments ab

If we need to go as far away as Houston to get a backhaul we can get one

from EV1 Servers (http://ev1.net). Koree Smith, my previous Sysadmin, is

working there in Houston and he says we should be able to get as much
bandwidth as we need there. It is a massive data center with multiple
fiber backbones into the location. They also have redundant power
systems in place. They will not go down. It is a long distance from
there to the proposed affected areas but it is at least an option we
have if needed. This does not answer Marlon's question but it does give
us an option for getting things back online.
