I have seen the “desensitized” as well, BUT, only for my older Win7 + 2GHz
1.5GB Pentium Mobile laptop (ca 2005). It is only when many signals are present
AND the program was running for +4hr. Sometimes the decode takes 4-5 seconds.
I only run WSJT-X, Dimension4, Chrome (3 tabs), no

Interesting
I could not work them. Zero propagation in the east coast. Weak in the west.
However
Signals from W7/KH7Z were:
- if only one signal (i.e. CQ), he was -21 to -18
- if 3-5 signals, all signals were between -12 to -08.
Contrary to logic. Maybe, the close proximity to the

Almost all countries use a ‘prepend’ designation:
- DV2/W8NET, when I’m in the Philippines
- VE3/W8NET, when I’m in Canada
But, if I’m in a another area of the USA:
- W8NET/M
- W8NET/MM
- W8NET/7
Your example is:
- K1ABC/VE1

Better:
- VE1/K1ABC

First, no propagation in northeast OH for the first test. Bummer.
Second, maybe I’m confused (as usual):
- I thought signals below 1000Hz are ignored? Many are. Some are not.
- I thought the Hounds were expected to transmit above 1000Hz and the Fox
would ignore below?
BTW, I checked “Rx All Freqs” AFTER I made the screen cap.

First, awesome program. Thank you.
Attached you will see one example the issue.
Environment:
Win7 Pro Svc Pack 1 - 32bit
Intel Pentuim M 2.00GHz
1.50GB RAM
At first, I thought someone was pranking me. Then, I saw it BEFORE I had
transmitted. In my example, I had not been on for 3 days.

Hi all,
Puzzling. FT8. I have seen this, maybe 20 times in ~2 weeks. Always on 20m and
40m. Here is a fictional example:
144330 -14 -0.1 1550 - CQ K1ABC EN91 ~U.S.A.
144330 -16 -0.1 1552 - CQ K1ABC EN91 ~U.S.A.
Another:
013545 -6 0.2 445 - CQ W9XYZ FN51 ~U.S.A.
013545 -8 0.2 447 - CQ W9XYZ
That’s BRILLIANT!

Ok
I called IZ0CUV
He responded with -13
I didn’t decode his report
He didn’t hear his response
His next transmission I heard was his CQ - and was GREEN.
No 73 or RR73. No log entry.

Joe,
Ramblings from Kent, Ohio:
- as this was a “mock contest”, I think was a: 1) good indication of
functionality, and 2) not a good indicator of contest conditions. Because we
had a small sample of stations for “congestion” in a contest, we need more real
life contest conditions.
Check your Windows 10 updates first. I had the same issue. Now, no problem.

And, in your 7300 mod level needs to be 35-50% or less.

No!
FT8 is WAY MORE sensitive! (~8db)
FT4 is awesome for MORE contacts (i.e. contests).
I’m sticking with FT8 for QUALITY.

Joe (and the team),
First, the last (new) rev of WSJT-X is WAY FASTER to decode a busy band. THANK
YOU!
My suggestion: Because I made thousands of FT8 contacts (especially on 20m, 30m
and 40m), a huge amount of the CQ decodes on a busy band are GREEN (confirmed
QSO for call/band/etc). Even
Hi Steve,
I didn’t calculate everything - and thank you for doing “my work” for me. ;)
In the real world, we need more empirical data to support my thought = FT8 is
superior for weak signal/DX/“valuable” contacts (and, of course, “value” is
purely subjective). We know is “better”
Allen and Andy,
Yes, it is not required. However, many stations (especially fox and hound)
MUST receive a 73 to acknowledge a contact for a card.

For clarity: I am trying to set it to the UNCHECKED function.
Checked or unchecked, it is still the same: “Enable Tx” is OFF when a QSO is
complete.
