[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1784438] [NEW] Safer handling inside of OperationLogMIddleware when object is unserializable

2018-07-30 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

function _get_request_param() in
https://github.com/openstack/horizon/blob/master/horizon/middleware/operation_log.py#L169-L190
returns a json dump of params that is not always serializable.

I'm proposing a better handling of the return statement when the object
"params" is unserializable.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1600229] Re: With only one key pair it should be selected by default in AngularJS Launch Instance

Title:
With only one key pair it should be selected by default in AngularJS
  Launch Instance

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Opinion

Bug description:
In the Launch Instance panel (not the new AngularJS version) when you
create a new instance and you have only one key pair, that key pair is
selected by default for the instance creation. If there is more than
one, anyone is selected by default an you have to select one if you
  want.

In the new Launch Instance panel in AngularJS this is not the
behaviour. when you have only one key pair it's not selected by
default, you have to selected it.

This may cause some unexpected user experience, because a lot of users
have only one key pair and they were used to not worry about to select
key pair when they create a new instance. Now, with the new panel
(AngularJS), they report issues because the instance was not created
with their "default key pair" and they can not SSH it.

I would like to suggest to come back to the same behaviour, for the
key pair selection, that we have in the not AngularJs version of the
Launch Instance panel. At least make it configurable via
  local_settings config file.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1639958] [NEW] Behavior of down arrow key in dropdowns is inconsistent across Horizon

2016-11-07 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

Dropdowns on Bootstrap lets you cycle through its item using the "Down"
arrow key, but this behavior is not consistent in both Django and NG
panes - actually seems to not work at all on NG panes, focus area for
next releases.

How to reproduce:
1. Go to Project->Images/Admin->Images.
2. Expand any dropdown inside the resource panel - could be the one that shows
"row actions".
3. Press the "Down" arrow key.
4. Go to a Django Pane and repeat last steps, see that the event does cycle the
items in the dropdown.

Actual result:
The "event" won't "activate" the next item in the dropdown. It does not cycle
(this on NG panels)

Expected result:
There's a keydown event attached to the element containing all items. This
event should let you cycle through all the elements in the dropdown when the
user hits the "Down" arrow key.

Learn more: http://getbootstrap.com/components/#dropdowns and in the
"Bootstrap Theme Preview" "http://yourhorizon/developer/#/buttons; pane.

Note: Fixing this issue could drastically improve the UX of Magicsearch
since all Facets and options are displayed using dropdowns - you cannot
select any of those options using ONLY the keyboard (you need to click
them).

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1638178] [NEW] MagicSearch does not filter by localized options

2016-10-31 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:

1. Set a different language than English (Tested with Spanish)
2. Go to Project->Compute->Images
3. Open filters and select a facet with options, e.g. "Status".
4. A menu opens with a set options (note: translated options). Type "activo"
(spanish word for active).
5. See that no matches are found since "activo" is not a valid filter option in
the API.
6. Try using "active" and now it works

Showing the localized options might confuse the user as they may think
is a valid option but it's not. However, I believe we should keep the

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1329415] Re: pagination and fixed filter will not work together

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Yahoo!

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329415

Title:
pagination and fixed filter will not work together

Status in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Have several images
I have 2 Public and 5 Project images as displayed in Admin > Images. Please
see (A) in attachment.
  2. Now if you go to Project > Images, you will see at the top 3 buttons. For
me it says: Project (5), Shared With Me (0) and Public (2)
  3. If you click on those, they will show you the images in those categories
(see (B) in attachment)

  4. Now, check-out this patch: https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+bug/1252649
to enable pagination on Project > Images
  5. Go to Settings and set Items Per Page to 2
  6. On Project > Images, it says Project (2), Shared With Me (0) and Public
(1) (see (C) in attachment)

=> This is not accurate though. This is applying those filters on the
*current items* displayed on the page. With pagination enabled those
  are only 2 items.

DRF Added: the Prev and Next buttons don't work quite as expected here
either. I've included my scenario and notes in comments below.

  Questions:
Do we want to pagination and fixed filter to work together? Or just stick
with what we have now (even though Glance supports pagination)?

  Possible solution:
I don't think we should use the FixedFilter. It seems like we plan on
eventually supporting filtering by column and if we have both FixedFilter and
Filter - that would be confusing. Maybe we can add a 'Category' column and
have Project, Shared with Me and Public as entries. Then have a dropdown menu
with the choice 'Category.' This would be align with the Admin > Instances
filter. Something like this?

The filtering that is currently in each table is only client-side, so
it only filters the table that was loaded into the browser. However,
the Cinder API supports filtering that operates on the entire dataset.
This filtering should be surfaced in the UI. Name and Status are

  https://blueprints.launchpad.net/cinder/+spec/list-volume-types-
  filters

This is how Horizon handles filtering for Nova Instances works, and

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1600004] [NEW] UX: Inconsistent table color in Flavor Popover

2016-07-07 Thread Eddie Ramirez

How to reproduce:

4) Mouse over and out some of the table rows and see how the table that shows
"Flavor Details" changes its background color.

See screenshots:

+
  How to reproduce:
  1) Go to Project->Instances
  2) Locate Size Column (Flavor)
  3) Click on Flavor Name.
  4) Mouse over and out some of the table rows and see how the table that shows
"Flavor Details" changes its background color.

  See screenshots:

  2. http://pasteboard.co/8JWTGTYde.png

- Note: this behavior is more clear when seeing a flavor detail of a row
- with class "even" (tr.even).
+ Note: this behavior is more notorious when seeing a flavor detail of a
+ row with class "even" (tr.even).

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1583319] [NEW] UX: Duplicated view title under Settings section

2016-05-18 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

Go to Setttings -> User Settings OR -> Change Password

There are two elements:

: page-header
: modal-title

Both elements contain the same contents and shown in the same area. I
think only one of those is necessary.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1578046] [NEW] Row actions (button group) shows text in white color, making them "invisible"

2016-05-03 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

Project -> Compute -> Instance

How to reproduce:
1. Launch an Instance that will fail to boot, e.g. try to boot an instance
demanding more resources than available.
2. See list of instances, search for the instance you just tried to boot and
click on "Dropdown button" in "Actions" of its row.
3. Three options are listed:
   1) Lock Instance (white colored)
   2) Unlock Instance (white colored)
   3) Delete Instance (red colored)

The first two options (1 & 2) are impossible to read due to their color
unless you "mouseover". These buttons have .btn-default with color:
#FFF.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1561193] [NEW] Modal windows don't close with ESC key in at least one scenario

2016-03-23 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

When the user opens a modal window and clicks on an element that is NOT
a form input and tries to close the modal window pressing the ESC key,
the modal window will not close.

How to reproduce:
1. Open a modal window, e.g. Try to create a new volume, instance or image.
2. Click on an element that is NOT a form input, e.g "Description Text", or a
white space or any other element that makes inputs to lose focus.
3. Press the ESC key and the modal window won't close.

The modal window DO close if a form input has focus, but if any of those
elements loses focus then using ESC key to close the window will not
work.

[Yahoo-eng-team] [Bug 1559276] [NEW] Doc page not displaying command-line with appropriate styling.

2016-03-19 Thread Eddie Ramirez
Public bug reported:

This page http://docs.openstack.org/developer/horizon/testing.html
contains instructions that tells the user how to start running tests for
the Horizon project.

I've detected two things wrong:
1. There are some commands that are not properly formatted for visual purposes,
e.g. mono-space font, enclosed in a box.
2. Single hyphens are replaced by en dashes,
  $ ./run_tests.sh –with-selenium –selenium-headless should be $
./run_tests.sh --with-selenium --selenium-headless

*See image attached to this bug report*

If the user tries to execute the same commands, he/she will see the
