Re: SBBOD when Yojimbo launches

since i'm experiencing this -- with only 19 items in my database, and
*without* performing any searches -- i'm going to go ahead and write
support about this issue. if i commit to yojimbo, i'll have hundreds
of items before too long, and i'm concerned about the issue worsening
as my database grows.

thanks,

yes, i'm using .mac syncing. that is, i *plan* to. but so far, i only
have yojimbo installed on one machine. but perhaps the app is still
communicating with whatever data is stored on .mac. but even when
i've made no changes to the database -- i'm just opening it to refer
to documents within -- i get this problem. but i suppose it may still
be comparing data. i wish it could do so without preventing us from
interacting with the app

Are you using .Mac syncing? Typically this happens as Yojimbo is
catching up with syncs that occurred in the background.

If not, write to me directly, and I have a couple questions that
might help us narrow it down.

you may have a point, there. i'm one of those guys who likes to keep
the number of items in his dock to a minimum. lol. but i can see the
merits of keeping yojimbo open. still, i'm glad to hear that this
issue is being investigated and addressed. :-)

If you have the unsorted items and untagged items smart collections
active, you might try turning those off. They use pretty expensive
queries.

While it is correct that Untagged Items and Unsorted Items use
relatively expensive queries, I'd be surprised to find out that this
was the cause of a minute startup delay for modest database sizes.

Rather than second guessing what may be going on, if you are affected
by this issue please either takes Steve up on his offer, or write to

about it if necessary.

It is not necessary to write to us about a delay after your initial
search. (We are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.)

Usually, it will only let me get in about three letters, before I get
the SBBOD, and then it takes about 30-45 seconds, and everything
seems fine. I also notice a lot of memory being sucked up when this
happens, so it must be loading a lot into memory.

Thanks for addressing this. I don't know what I would do without
Yojimbo, and knowing that small issues like this are being worked on
is even better :-)

Thank you,
