Check /etc/sysconfig/hwconf to see if your modem was detected. If it
was, then you probably already have a link between /dev/modem and your
modem. (If the modem was not turned on when the system booted, it
probably was not detected.) If it was not detected, but you know what
port the modem is on, you can run modemtool to create the link.
