Title: Message

My name is Joyce Durst, CEO of a security software company called Infraworks and I could not agree more with your assessment regarding the rise in the loss and theft of laptop computers.  And one portion of your conversation truly stood out for me.

"I suppose the encryption process for protecting data is not as pressing as securing the device itself. (At least in the minds of managers who can see the cost of a replacement PC but don't recognize the cost of compromised data).  It is fairly easy to assess the dangers to data that is being transferred...it is more difficult to plan for the potential loss of a data carrying device.   My recommendation to our organization is that we secure the devices that contain the data. And, in so doing, we disable the ability of the information being accessed by a thief."

Unfortunately, we don't have more people that recognize the true value is in the data, not necessarily the hardware.  It has been our experience that those with the desire to steal or misuse data, often have the knowledge and the resources, to break standard solutions to secure devices or data only such as dongles, smart cards or encryption.  For  true data/file security solutions must present the thief with multiple barriers to access and potentially the removal of the data if some, or all, other barriers are breached.

If you would like to learn more about what Infraworks has to offer, please feel free to visit our website at www.infraworks.com, or call me at 512-583-5000 and will be happy to introduce you to our solutions.  Additionally, we are planning on releasing a new product in the next few months designed specifically to protect against the loss of data on lost or stolen laptops.  We would delight in the opportunity to get your thoughts and feedback on our product prior to its release.  Please contact Jeff Blackburn at 512-583-5000, Ext 204. to discuss our upcoming product.

Sincerely,

Joyce
